Any news about new 3000 series with miners limiting From EVGA ?

New graphic cards, new series means NEW HOPE for us to buy an EVGA card
...

My guess here is that EVGA will release new part numbers for the limiter-enabled version of the same cards we have queued up for already, then just transfer us all over to the new card at some break point when their stock of old SKUs runs out.  Just a guess, but they would be wise to do this.

I believe your opinion is OK

Re: New EVGA.com Notification Checkout Process 2021/05/13 08:52:33 (permalink)
I’ve been playing video games a long time (dating back to the early 80s on the Apple ][e). With the advent of multiplayer games, whether it is taking over the Stanford Brain Imaging Lab for a LAN party or running cable down my childhood home’s hallway, over the couch, into the dining room, etc. so that each of my brothers could have his own “private” set up for our battles, shooters became my game of choice. Doom, Quake, BF 1942, I played them all.

I have distinct and fond memories of playing Joint Ops with my eldest brother…this (very buggy) game came out (in 2004) right around the time gaming voip began hitting mainstream adoption (Ventrilo was the voip of the moment). Our Thursday night sessions incorporated a variety of regulars from our gaming squad, including an old, crusty gamer named “Swampy”.

Gruff and sharp-witted, Swampy loved to fly the in-game helicopters. And by “loved”, what I mean is, it was the only thing he did. However, his Internet connection was intermittent and his skills…by the third vodka of the night…diminished. But he would insist. His in-game service was infamously labeled, “Swamp Air”. He would eventually adopt that moniker over voip when we called for an extraction or otherwise required his services.

Collectively, all of the members of the Notify queues do not have enough fingers to count how many times my gaming group’s avatars would clamber aboard a helicopter only to have it blow up upon take off as Swampy inadvertently slammed into the ground, a mountain or another vehicle. Or having successfully navigated across the entire map, Swampy would unceremoniously drive the helicopter’s nose headfirst into Valhalla.

“Swamp Air” came to define my Joint Ops experience for more than a year. Those on voip would curse Swampy, demand a refund, ask for our next of kin to be notified, and/or beg to be allowed to take the stick next time. Sometimes Swampy flew hesitantly; sometimes confidently…but, regardless of his disposition, the vast majority of his flights would result in a squad wipe. Multiple times a night.

Some Joint Ops nights generated epic stories of valor and virtual heroism detailing how our ragtag group of avatars miraculously survived the Swamp Air flight, was inserted into enemy territory, and proceeded on to an unexpected (and, unfortunately, infrequent) victory. Other nights would end in rage quits by more than a plurality of our gaming group when Swampy had a string of unsuccessful (and unexpectedly short) flights in a row. Nights full of laughter, banter and comradery…how fortunate we were to have found each other in this wonderful medium of video games. #EmergentGameplayForTheWin

The expansion pack, Joint Ops Escalation, was a bitter, bug-ridden disappointment. My gaming group eventually migrated to Battlefield and stayed together for many of the years that followed. I still occasionally play PUBG with them (they carry me and my crappy 3-year old laptop fps). I lost touch with Swampy around the time of BF3…but were I to hear that broken-blacktop voice crack over my Discord channel, I’d hope he’d honor my Swamp Air frequent-flier miles; I’ve got a bunch.

As much as I want my card from the queue, I really hope that this inadequate supply of gpus isn’t depriving a whole generation of their first experiences with WASD gaming. To me, these memories are priceless. Throughout this process, seeing posts and PMs of parents securing cards for their kids’ rigs…and thinking about what joys lie ahead for them…those notes warm my spirit beyond words.

Go get your card.

Why has there been zero movement on the 3060 ti cards? I understand how high the demand is but I would expect after 6 months they would get through the first day of orders. Maybe my expectations are too high

I believe it is the same die as the 3070 (the 3060ti is a 3070 w/some CUDA cores disabled).  As long as they can sell 3070's, that's where the die are going to go.  The 3070 is almost certainly higher profit margin.

that makes a lot of sense. I guess only a few models will make movements at a time? That's kind of lame. I was hoping I was going to be able to buy a card this year. lol

Nice enewt. Very nice. I was never into battle field games, but I have similar fond memories of Tuesday night drivers club races and WWII fighter simulations

From what I have been reading, I guess we should consider ourselves lucky that anything is moving right now. Chips are being fed to GPU makers at a rate that is barely keeping the lights on. Good thing EVGA sells a lot of other products besides GPU's or they would be down to a skeleton crew. Other, more critical sectors of the economy are being prioritized for chips and that's why drops have slowed to what we are seeing right now. It certainly wasn't like this last fall. I hope that none of you really NEED a new card for a job, or something like that. I can understand the frustration if that's the case. Otherwise, hang out and wait with everyone else and don't whine. We are all in the same boat and the whining doesn't help. My goal is to upgrade from a 980SC that has been vacuuming up dust in my tower for almost 6 years now. I'm worse off than most here, but it's okay. As long as this 980SC holds out a little longer I'll be...... wait...... I smell smoke...... shhhhhiiiiiiiiii.....

I've heard that the Best Buy online inventory gets snatched up by the bot's fat f**king fingers before they even get registered. This is genocide!

This is my situation. I've been trying to finish building my new work computer since last summer (self-employed) and this whole situation has been insanely frustrating and stressful. My current work compy is a laptop I got four years ago, and it's been struggling more and more. Even blue screened a couple months ago. Really hoping I can get my GPU before this thing dies, otherwise I'll be shelling out 3 grand to a scalper because I'll have no other choice. I bought every other component 8-10 months ago, GPU is literally all I'm missing. Had no luck with today's Best Buy drops.

Just 13 hours to go on the queue. Sigh. 10G-P5-3897-KR 9/22/2020 1:08:58 AM PT No

coldrain85Chips are being fed to GPU makers at a rate that is barely keeping the lights on.
Previous Nvidia financial report show more profit than before. They should post Q1 report soon.

Use associate code to save 3% on your EVGA GPU purchase! And up to 10% on other products!

Got to the cart on Best Buy, but by the time I selected the store closest to me it wasn't available, a real shame you have to send it to a store instead of your address.

I've heard that the Best Buy online inventory gets snatched up by the bot's fat f**king fingers before they even get registered. This is genocide!

I can say after months of trying, I managed to snag a 3090 FE today from that Best Buy drop with a pick up in South Florida. It was excruciating waiting through basically three layers of verification given that I've failed so many times to get it. Order page says I'll be able to pick up next week. But I was basically there right when everything started to hit. I had resigned myself to trying to get a 3080 ti after several months of being on the EVGA wait list (and over 30 failed Newegg shuffles).

I didn’t even see them being in stock. Though I’m trying the BB drop for the first time, so it’s totally possible that I’ve done things wrong.

From what I have been reading, I guess we should consider ourselves lucky that anything is moving right now.

I've basically signed up for every discord\twitch\twitter tracker under the sun and they all started alerting that stuff was showing up on best buy. I just so happened to be at my desk working and this is probably my fifth attempt at getting a card; so I was familiar with the whole check out process.

I saw them available at about $700 for several hours today. AMD CPUs seem to be regularly available now (well regular being not annoyingly difficult to get).
