For those getting 3090s, I present to you, adding heatsinks to help keep the back of the card happy, phase 1:

This was waaaaaaaay more trouble than it looks like it shoulda been and not as much coverage as I was hoping to get out of the kit I bought, but... for those looking at 3090s specifically, I'd definitely recommend looking in to getting some heatsinks for the back of the card if you can.
I have my card vertically mounted now, with a fan blowing on those lil' heatsinks, just ran a PR run to compare temps stock vs stock to an old run I did when I got the card: Mem1 & Mem2 are 4-6C cooler than the old run, and most of the other temps are 1-2C cooler across the board.
I'm definitely going to be picking up another thing of heatsinks to put some over the VRM areas on the back of the card.
The ones in the picture are applied via thermal tape, by the by.  The whole kit, small as it was, only cost $11, so definitely worth it for that temperature reduction!

I'm generally a fan of EVGA but, if you have to resort to this to get it to run the way you want, it's overpriced garbage.

Scalpers and miners should be immediately removed from the queue and the forums IMO. But for EVGA, it's just another sold copy, so it's all fine as long as money is in the pocket.

Watch the language and personal attacks guys. Thanks.

I think a lot of people have been waiting patiently.  We have some money in our pockets, and we want to give it your company.  We are waiting patiently for a queue to call our number.  We understand EVGA has other business obligations.  All fine.

Some person starts talking about auctioning a card they got from the queue.  I thought that wasn't allowed with the queue system.  Apparently I guess it is.  Then person keeps giving us the play by play of their auction.  Gross.  Then the person thanks someone for using their associates code.  I have to draw a line there.  People do what they do, but the forum allows people to reward people for that?

Come on.  Punt me if you must, but I was the third or fourth person to cry foul at the auctioneer notes of that hybrid card.  It's such bad form, especially since providing cards to your most die-hard fans is taking the back-seat to your retail obligations.. even those that are are only e-retail being bought up by scalpers at an alarming rate.

Yep, and I think I was the first person to cry foul. I didn't push the issue at the time because I know this forum is heavily moderated and I don't come here to hassle people anyway. Telling everyone here about how you scalped a used card on eBay and then following it up with "oh, and thanks for using my associate code" is all kinds of wrong though. I won't sit by and pretend that it's not happening and I'm glad that I wasn't the only one who spoke up.

HOWEVER, in the interest of moving on and lowering the volume I will speak no more on the matter. The individual in question has been blocked, not just for today's episode, but because of the spam posting in general. I did not report anything as spam and don't plan to, but yeah, spam.

Here's to a better tomorrow.

You probably weren't the first person to think it, but I agree.  At the same time, person was probably thinking they were providing a level of information the normal person doesn't have.  I can't hate on anyone for making money.  It's what we all strive to do on some level.  Just know when it makes sense to throw it out to the crowd, and when it might be better to throw it out to some friends internally.  Doesn't mean we don't have the same interests at the end of the day.

I signed up for the notify of the 3978 as well, since that also seems to be thin enough.  Who knows, maybe it'll actually overtake the other one eventually.     I've never dealt with water cooled components before though...

That's the main perk of the Hybrid cards/Hybrid kit, it's a self-contained unit that doesn't need much maintenance.  Other than occasionally cleaning the radiator to prevent dust build up resulting in blockages, you don't really need to worry about it after it's installed.  They also have a pretty low failure rate - and low liquid-loss/permeation, meaning they don't need refilling & won't have liquid-level issues for at least 5+ years.
On top of the better temperatures, it also vacates the hot air the card produces the heck out yer case (out of the radiator's exhaust, and out of the back of the case from the exhaust of the GPU itself) instead of it being recirculated/spewed all over the place like the air-cooled cards do, which is nice for the rest of your system.  I for one dipped my toes in an air-cooled card again briefly this generation, and won't be doing that again - the heat/temperature increase that card caused on my chipset/RAM/M.2s/VRMs of my motherboard was not cool, pun so intended.

The other main perk is if you just keep taking up our oxygen, someone will use your code.  Even though you didn't think to feed back your excess to this forum where there are no fees.  It's all scalp and feed my pocket.  And thank you all for the evga associate code add, it gets me something else for free after I hosed someone over.  But I am not a bad guy, because I upgraded their shipping.

Get on board with shutting scalping down, or shut up.  EVGA has a good system in place.  You exploited it with selling your used product well over MSRP, despite whatever your personal profit was.  That's why Ebay and Amazon don't shut this down, they make a lot of money off people like you.  Feed them, screw the actual user.  Well done.

Mate, I really truly understand you’re frustrated, but you’ve got to let it go. You’ve said your two cents, dabadger disagrees, and neither of you are going to change your mind so it’s time to move on and not make the situation any worse. If you were trying to convince others, I think you’re slowly losing persuasion by coming back time and time again to attack and mock dabadger. You’ve made the best argument that you can and I think if anyone agreed, they would have by now. Constantly rehashing it doesn’t help when the rest of the forum has moved on. So I completely get how upset you are and why you’re upset, but this attitude isn’t helping anyone. Let’s just move on and not make the whole situation any worse.

It's not EVGA's fault in this case.  All the 3090's have memory chips on the back of the board and the only thing cooling them is the back plate.  Maybe under normal conditions you would be fine, but if you are going to push the card (and it's a kingpin, if you don't you wasted your money) then it might need some help :)

Na.  I am not truly frustrated.  I did say my two cents.  I will let it go.  The bigger concern is someone like person keeps saying they are just not getting ripped off by a used card sold over the msrp when they got it from this queue of people frustrated they cannot get a card. Other people said this before me.  It's just lame.  Not to say the person is lame, but they had no sense of spouting off their experience.  I want a card.  I don't need it.  I am not frustrated by the supply chain.  I am frustrated by the people.  Scalpers are the worst.  They do nothing but profit off the woes of others.

Decided this morning that I don't care how much it costs anymore, I'm getting a new card....  But since I'm tired of waiting for the more affordable options and I refuse to support scalpers, I guess that means I'm just going to have to get in line for some 3090s.  Including the Kingpin.

Here's my new notifies in case you wanna add em to the list:

Does anyone have any experience or information about the voucher system at the Microcenter in Yonkers, NY? It’s about 2.5 hours from me, but I’m getting so desperate I might go spend the night there waiting in line.

I would say you could use your Graphics card as a space heater, but you wouldn't be here if you had one .  There is a Blizzard rolling through my part of the midwest and having the extra heat would be nice.

I would like to know which model of card did you get and how much did you end up getting charged in customs when you received it? Also where are you located? What shipping did you use?

I want to get a better idea on how much custom it will cost if/when I finally receive mine.

You made several.  The initial before the last 20 minutes, the last 20 minutes.  You aren't worth my time to go back now and count, but it was at least three.

I think what you should say is like, man, I made a little money.  Maybe not a lot, but I just didn't need that card anymore.  I'm not so much better than the scalpers, because I sold a used card for way more than I bought it for, but I didn't mean to make money.  It is a used product, for sure!  But please know what is most important to me is that you keep using my special EVGA code so I can get something else for free.

I bought a bunch of cards early on so I could sell to my local PC group at my cost (probably 30 or so?). I was able to get things that others cannot. I had at least 3-4 cards that I could not sell, so sold on eBay at Buy it now prices quite a bit higher than retail to account for shipping, taxes, and ebay/Paypal fees. Does that make me a scalper?

I buy finned aluminum plate that just fits the back and drill mounting holes and replace the backplate. Cost me 20 bucks. Works great.

Maybe I shouldn't have cut myself off on case talk. At least that was fun lol. Not a dig at anybody else's cases by any means, I think everyone posted cool ideas, but I will say that I love my bequiet! case. It has a simple and elegant look that I can't seem to get a good picture of no matter how hard I try. I am not a big RGB fan and I like the fact that this case just offered two rows of LEDs I could light the inside of the case with that can be several different colors, but only one color at any one time (no cycling). It's more of a Ron Popeil Set it and forget it type of thing. There are a few pictures in my modsrigs, but I've put in a PSU shroud since those pictures, as well as moved the bottom fan to the top of my CLC-280, slide the front fans up, took out an old HD that isn't in the system anymore and did some slightly better cable-management. The shroud was a royal PITA to get in, but maybe wouldn't have been if this was the Version 2 or Pro that comes with it. This was the "oh we came out with a shroud after you bought your case...for $30 you can have one too" after-thought. I got sick of looking at the PSU cables at the bottom of the case so I sprung for it. Looks amazing. I wonder if I have any pictures on my phone I can update my modsrigs with...hmmm

I would like to know which model of card did you get and how much did you end up getting charged in customs when you received it? Also where are you located? What shipping did you use?

I want to get a better idea on how much custom it will cost if/when I finally receive mine.

There are no customs/duties fees.  You just have to pay for provincial tax and broker fees.  I used next day delivery with the signature option.  I highly suggest that you get the UPS e-mail tracking notification so that you will know when to pay the tax.  For me, the e-mail notification was sent early in the morning, around 3 am or so.  You can pay the tax by credit card through the e-mail notification or through UPS tracking.  You can to this or pay when it is delivered.  These were the options that was given to me.  I payed ahead of time and not when it was delivered.  I'm in the province of Ontario.

I have always been a Performance over looks sort of person.  I had bought the Fractal Define nano s with the solid side panel.  The downside to the case is you get maybe 3-4 mm between the GPU and the PSU.  That's with a true 2 slot card.  A FW3 card with it's red lips wouldn't fit in my case.  Hybrid cards on the other hand, they work really nice :)  My plan was to post pictures it when I eventually get the card (maybe this summer :) )

Hi all, long time listener, first time caller. I am signed up for the FTW3 Hybrid -3988. I am like #35 on the spreadsheet, of course there are more, who hasn't come here. I was looking for the Kingpin -3998 list, but can't find it. Anyone have an idea how long that list "could" be? Looking at purchasing a power supply here to get the Elite status, so I can buy it.

Thanks all. Awesome work on the spreadsheet BTW!!

Greetings just finished with a 5800x build used the ASUS strix b550f board , overall very satisfied with basic plug and play operation , here’s where it gets interesting with the new 5000 series they are extremely picky on ram , I’m now fighting with ASUS and g skill about the ram not clocking past 2133mhz no xmp profile will run , g skill has the ram listed as QVL ASUS does not for the 5000 but does for the 3000 . On a positive note system is still the same except for moving from a 3800 to the 5800 (ram worked fine and at speed with the 3800 same board etc) rocking an old 1660ti (+5/6 fps with the 5800x) till my evga pops up ... just research the ram best of luck

I didnt realize one can beat a horse beyond death but here we are. On another note, I think its stupid that when I block someone, I can still see their posts on the mobile version of this forum.

I'm with you, dude. I keep trying to get us to move on but then it keeps popping back up lol Hope you're doing well though and good luck with drops today! :)

That sounds awesome! I'm really glad you like your case! You gotta figure out the picture thing so we can see it haha I love my case too :) I like that the Lian Li has the PSU in the back so I don't need a shroud, it looks cleaner, and my airflow is better. Hopefully that doesn't sound like I'm trying to one-up you, I just really like it hahaha My biggest eyesore right now is that I have three of the stupid daisy-chained PCIE cables feeding through to my GPU. I need to spring for the bridged 8+8+8 from Cable Mod but it's SO expensive T_T

But on the topic of cases, I still gotta bring up the Motif Monument for $200 USD... .............. .................. Not sure what you're paying for there.

I get the feeling that by the time most of us get anything from the queue, we will have found what we wanted from BB or NE or Microcenter or Ebay or.....and a lot of removed notifies (including mine) will cause the spreadsheet movement to accelerate very quickly through once full production begins/resumes.  When that happens is anyone's guess.
