Oof. I thought there was going to be a 3080 Ti in Feb/March timeframe, so I had waited on queues. Then I heard it was indefinitely postponed from not having enough capacity to even fulfil the current SKUs so I signed up for the 3898 in 1/5/2021. Really hoping they have some breakthroughs on supply capacity lol. Eh, I guess it'll give me some time to break in my RKL set-up before I get 30-series graphics

That would be interesting to see the results of, but SLi is not for me...the extra electrical bill...my first person skills are bad and no amount of increased fps by goin to a SLi is going to materially improve my experience over a single 30 series in my rig...at some point, it does come down to the failing skill of the gamer.

Oh I would only run it for a day or two, I definitely won't be keeping 2 3090s, no point lol  Literally would be just for some Port Royal runs and that's about it, before I sell the 3090 FTW3 Hybrid.
 
Edit: would be $24 shipped, with the $89 retail price being covered by eVGA Bucks... but that's 89 eVGA Bucks I'd be spending on 1-2 days of benchmarking fun.  Meh.

Sounds like a cool experiment.  
 
At this point, I just want the HCs to drop and I want to complete my rig...maybe someday I will have the opportunity to do something along your ideas, but...I am just not there.  Best of luck!

Go for it if you want to improve your benchmark score. As for me, I don't do benchmarks, never had and never will.  I play games.  I did sli once and never did it again.

I used to run SLi for games back when it was actually viable, also ran Crossfire both of R9 290Xs as well as QuadFire with 2 R9 295x2s.  Crossfire at the time was a great experiencing, in games that supported it the scaling was insanely good, even on the ancient 3930K and 2600K systems I ran it on.  Nowadays, definitely not worth it, no developers are putting it in their games now, and if they are doing explicit multi GPU it's through Vulkan or the like so it's not even required to have SLi - not even sure how that stuff works exactly.

Yikes my hopes of getting a 3080 ftw ultra is getting crushed, not a single drop this week and past week they didn't drop much either. Heard jacob say production is gonna increase day by day and its been 5 months since release, wonder when they this " production will increase day by day" come

DIY market gets screwed. It’s too small to compete with companies selling prebuilt computers when there is a shortage of boards. We are the bottom feeders. Shortage in DIY parts propelled sales of prebuilt computers and cycle continues. We have to wait until prebuilt sales drop or production increase dramatically. Have friends that ordered prebuilt and there is no shortage there, at least not to the extent we see.

Don't rely on that ''production will increase'' thing they keep saying: they also said that ''everyone would get a card by the end of October 2020: we are almost in February 2021 and it barely ever moved since launch day. So yeah just ignore what they say, it's not accurate one bit. The cold hard fact is that it's not moving, and barely if at all, and it won't get better anytime soon no matter what they say, and it's been proven time and time again. THAT is accurate.
