After sitting in the queue and then realising I wouldn't be able to purchase a card with my international credit card I eventually had no other option than to take the eBay route for a 3070 for a mate. Wanted a 3080 but the scalper prices are just insane.
Such a shame I had to feed the scalpers but in truth I had no other way of getting an EVGA card :(
I really do not understand why EVGA does not accept International CC. I have bought on Amazon and Ebay with international cards. I was on the same boat as yours. But thankfully, a friend was to carry the GPU for me and he made the payment and all.

I was all ready to pull the trigger on a $1600 3090, but now that there's a 3080Ti (possibly) on the horizon for January, not sure that makes a lot of sense anymore. I think I've just saved myself $600

yeah, I'm in the same boat now also. Especially since the 3080Ti will be released before my position in the queue for the 3080.
totally. I'm not sure the 3080Ti stock would be any better, but at this point, it seems unlikely I'll have a card before January anyway. Of course we don't have perf specs yet, but to me the margin is already so slim bw the 3080 and 3090, the 3080Ti would fit the bill quite nicely, and it's not clear to me why anyone would want a 3090 at that point? SLI capability?

It's quite simple as for the reason: Release something at the 6900XT price point or basically see your 3090 sales go down to almost absolutely nothing unless a user absolutely, positively MUST have 24gb memory. They would get no sales in the high end. If they want to sell a sku higher than the 3080, they had to release something in between.
Doubt it. There are people that will not go AMD regardless because of AMD's rampant driver issues & simply being loyal to NVidia. And the 6900XT does not beat the 3090 without SAM & rage mode, that's something a lot of people seem to be missing. Also, again, the 3090 may have been marketed as a gaming card, but it's intended to be a Titan class GPU, not a gaming GPU, anyone paying that much for "gaming" is nuts to begin with. mokrunka

If NVidia seriously releases a 3080 Ti in January I will giveaway whatever spare GPU I have left at that time. That's how sure I am it won't happen. It literally makes ZERO sense to release a refresh 3 months after an initial release, regardless of what the competition is doing.
