Yeah, unless they were gamers and into computers I would not ask such a favor as well.  Another reason bitcoin payment would be awesome, no restriction or require banks but thats at least a few years from catching on

I think their billing provider has a problem with payments coming from overseas credit cards / paypal as the address won't match up. If so, I'd suggest as a possible solution that you send money to your friend in the US (if you can trust them enough) and then have them log on to your EVGA account and pay for the GPU with their US credit card, so the delivery address matches. You'd need to amend your EVGA account to their address too. I can't guarantee any of this, but from what I've seen in the forums, this may be a workaround.

What about making simple bank transfer payment (not credit card) ?

I don't think that's an option for payment unfortunately. Best thing to do is contact EVGA and see what they suggest.

You'd think with the massive demand, they'd be in full production 7 days a week :/

True. Unfortunately EVGA are limited by what NVidia supply them, and that's where the problem is.

Scalpers are getting worse. Wish there was something that could be done. Personally, i'd leave them with all the cards etc they have purchased to sell on!!

Sp according to TechPowerUp, the 3080Ti is due as early as January at $999. Like everyone knew/suspected, basically a 3090 with 20gb memory.
How in the world is Nvidia planning to split chips up even more? And with the highest end chip with the lowest yield rate at that. What???

Production on EVGA (or any of the board partners) end isn't the issue. It's the abysmal rate in which Nvidia is supplying them with chips.

Board partners have the capabilities of producing thousands and thousands of cards a week if they're supplied with the raw materials to do such.

I don't see how or why NVidia would do a refresh that quickly, they haven't even had time to sell the whole of what's been made for 3070s & 3080s yet.  That'd be a very bad marketing decision by them.  More likely it'll be July or October of 2021.

It's quite simple as for the reason: Release something at the 6900XT price point or basically see your 3090 sales go down to almost absolutely nothing unless a user absolutely, positively MUST have 24gb memory. They would get no sales in the high end. If they want to sell a sku higher than the 3080, they had to release something in between.

If that is true, I might as well just drop my notify right now, or just get the 3080 in February and do the Step Up at that point.

Leather jacket guy lost his mind.
Nvidia must back to TSMC (begging for 7nm wafers) and dich samsung.
Just imagine what beast would be 3080 20GB (TSMC 7nm)

Same bus?? So it's a 3080 with double the vram. That's great, but not sure if my 1440p UW monitor will use more than the 10G the 3080 has in the 2-3 years time I'd have it (hopefully?)

So I finally got my queue position filled (see signature)...  Thanks EVGA, it was a rocky road.  Now it's time for the FTW3 vs Strix 3080 showdown.  I really want EVGA to win this one, fingers crossed.

Good luck and fast queues to all!

I doubt it will be more than 8-10% more performance over a 3080. But people who want/need more than 10gb memory will now have a reasonable go-to in the Nvidia stack besides the ridiculous $1,500+ 3090 which offers terriblel gains price:performance wise.
Plus, the non enthusiast market just looks at numbers (yes, really). They see one has 10. One has 20. Dunno what the the hell this gddr6x stuff is, but this card has more of it, so let me get that one to play at 1080 with lol.

In fact 3080Ti would be a 3090 killer.
Roughly same performance but $600 cheaper.

Haha so true. As long as I don't need it, I won't be a fool for the numbers hype marketing. You're probably spot on about the 8-10% improvements considering the 3090, But I am curious, do you think 10GB will be enough until next-gen on 3440x1440p? I am well aware of the difference between allocated and used, but I wonder what/if games will actually use 10GB in the next 2-3 years

Sure. In terms of price:perforamnce. (Obviosuly.)
It's still not going to take the overall performance crown from the 3090 though.

I don't think anyone is using all 10gb in 3440X1440 or less. But I know people playing some 4k games are definitely using all 10gb. The 3080 really, really should have had at least 12.

That has me pretty shook bro lmfao. Wth was Nvidia thinking? They just wanted the 3090 to be more enticing
