It wasn't half as bad of a rip as people make it out to be.  They say at the end of the video none of this really matters for normal OC, only sub zero.  It's mostly whether they could have provided better components for the price.
 

You pretty much nailed my thoughts on the video.  At the end, I felt like I was a victim of click-bait.  They could have cut the headline differently.  

Plus EVGAs will replace our cards if they go bad so who cares.

What I didn't know was that you can take any 3080 and use a bios update. Well according to that guy talking.

I wonder if they going to look at other cards the same way they did EVGAs.

Cause him saying other cards use better components is one thing, but showing the audience is another.

Plus I always find in depth tear downs interesting.

Also, he stated in the video that the card he was looking at was an early version, as it had the different setup of poscaps, so maybe they have changed other things as well.

It sure did, I sprung for the 3 day delivery even though I don't think my current 650watt PSU in my 6700k/1080ti build will drive it LOL. I planned on doing a full build with this card anyhow, I guess I should have been shopping already for a CPU and what not ahead of time. Oh well, time to light my Newegg credit card on fire!

Holy unsolicited advice, Batman...I struggled between an 850 and 1000w PSU and eventually settled on a 1000w Seasonic (EVGA 1000w was sold out at the time).  Why did I "go big"?  I just wanted to sleep at night and wanted to try some decent overclocking....  Good luck on your component safari and, again, Congratulations!

An early morning drop suggested that we might be in store for the fabled and elusive “30 Series tsunami.”  But it was not to be; the heavy surf receded by lunchtime to a smooth.  The day concluded with a smooth glassy finish with only a periodic ripple on which to focus.
 
Nevertheless, some within the queue benefited from drops of 3090s (Straggling FTW3 Ultras and XC3 Ultras), 3080s (FTW3 Ultras, XC3 Ultras and making it grand entrance for the queue, a modest supply of XC3 Gaming Blacks), and some 3070 Gaming Blacks.

Awesome. I'm 8 hours and 23 minutes of queue time away from a 3080 FTW Ultra. I can practically smell the card heating up in my rig for the first time.

I just got my notification for the 3080 FTW Ultra, but already have a 3080 XC3 Ultra - got it a couple of weeks ago.  The FTW3 is really the card I wanted though, but didn't think they'd get through the queue this quickly.

After sitting in the queue and then realising I wouldn't be able to purchase a card with my international credit card I eventually had no other option than to take the eBay route for a 3070 for a mate. Wanted a 3080 but the scalper prices are just insane.
 
Such a shame I had to feed the scalpers but in truth I had no other way of getting an EVGA card :(

Paypal not available where you at?  EVGA accepts paypal too

PayPal is available where I am and when you pay with it whatever you buy gets delivered to the address in your PayPal account. I did try it for an EVGA t-shirt order but payment failed. To register a US PayPal account I would need a US mobile number for SMS codes and notifications as well as a US bank account.
 
The bummer is my spot in the 3090 FTW3 Ultra queue would have come up recently as well :( Registered on the 5th October

You folks need to make some friends in the states. It can make your life better/easier and it goes both ways. I have a friend in Innsbruck who came through for me over the summer. I was looking for an adjustable height desk for one of my kids and I wanted it to be wood construction. No plastic or particle board garbage. There is a company in Austria that makes KILLER wood furniture, including kids furniture. They have a showroom in LA, so I called them up and asked how much and when could I get the desk. Well, due to some stupid red tape BS the company can't ship children's furniture to the US because blah blah blah. So, I emailed my friend in Innsbruck and asked him if he could step in, buy the desk for me, and ship it to me. Done, done, and done.

I have a few friends and family in the States in Cali, Florida and Texas but I don't like asking people for favours. I would rather sort it out myself besides, being forced to wait may very well be a good idea if the move to TSMC goes ahead. 7nm, better yields, lower heat and higher clocks. Next year will be interesting.
