I mean the best shops in my country are selling gpus for $3k+ that should be $1k at most, so yeah...

Luckily Germany and such have a few decent shops that sell at only twice the base price - the tragedy when that's a good deal.

They do, but if these people are buying from a distributor, then EVGA has no say in how many they get.

The worst part is how much ebay makes from this stuff something like 13% I think. They wouldn't do anything to lose that much revenue

This is the worst part of using Ebay honestly. Absolutely crazy percent considering how much volume goes through.

The question is who is buying at those crazy-inflated prices. No way even mining crypto makes it profitable.

I imagine that when the feds are throwing thousands of dollars at people, spending a few extra hundred dollars is more palatable.

Right? From the numbers I’ve heard it can take 6 months or more to pay off a card with mining, and people are out there paying 2-3x msrp

I'm making like $10 per day with my 3090.  Bought it for gaming, but mining while idle cause why not?  At $3,000 that's a little under a year to buy back, but I wouldn't take the bet that you're going to be able to make the same amount then as you are now.

If you can't get them for msrp, don't buy them. Scalpers can't make money if gamers don't give it to them.

It's all about who you know. I wouldn't be surprised if they have friends that work at a retailer or distributor.

Pretty big return on your investment considering people are actually paying those insane prices for the cards. Which only encourages them to keep doing it and raising the prices even more.

Man, I do hate the scalping going on... but these big companies like nvidia , msi, best buy etc need to step up the anti bot/scalp game. They need super teams of white hackers ( maybe some grey ones to do some borderline (Deleted for Foul language) to fight fire with fire.

I have seen pictures of the scalpers and their mass boxes of EVGA cards in their living rooms overflowing into their kitchens in small apartments. Each one has had a grand total of 50-100k in EVGA cards that's if you bought at MSRP, now times that by 300% or so. A delivery guy does not make that kind of money, the fact the boxes are in plain shipping bulk boxes meant for retail/etail or even system builders that CAN bulk order from EVGA where as a consumer cannot. Says something is up.

Do you have pictures of these pictures?

Yeah I'd like to see that as well.   I highly doubt someone living in a small apartment has $100K worth of GPUs unless he just A. Robbed a bank or B. Had lots of bitcoin mined and used that as currency to those websites with bots that possibly purchase from different places to the highest bidder?  idk....

Same. Id bet a larger crypto miner or someone who scalps various things for a living, but I'm sure the pictures are either gone now or didn't exist

That's really insane. I think that Amazon, Best Buy, and others should do something to stop scalpers. I have been for months trying to buy a GPU for my new computers, and it has become an impossible task.

This shortage is the result of poor forecasts by AMD/NVIDIA, plus a global pandemic, length of time require to increase capacity, a drought in Taiwan, and the list goes on.

Essentially no - as long as the specs stay within temp, then I wouldn't expect the card to "wear out".  The only way it would do that is if I was cranking more power than the card can handle or possible mechanical failure from the fans, but all research that I've done suggests that the card will be alright.  The cards these days are made to protect themselves against such wear and tear.  I remember seeing a video where Jay 2 cents was literally holding a heat gun up to the card.
