defensor I can't think of a way they can combat the fraudsters. They more than likely they got them from distributors/retailers.
sadly some distributors in 3rd world countries sell them under the table for jacked up prices and create an artificial shortage as well

fraudsters? Elucidate. If they obtained the cards legally and are selling them, they can put whatever price they want on them. Regardless: The only reason scalpers do this is because idiots continue to buy the cards from them. Stop buying from them. Let them eat losses...they'll stop doing it.... but nope, gotta have my vidya card.

I totally agree with you when you say that people should stop buying from scalpers. As people continue to buy GPUs from scalpers, those scalpers will continue to buy more cards to resell. It is that simple.

This is reason why I play still on my nearly dead rx 580. I want new card and Evga card because I read only possitive feedbacks on them. I could buy from scalper for double price, but I dont want support this kind of behaviour, so still patiently waiting for oportunity to buy one.

4TheLuvOf30 This shortage is the result of poor forecasts by AMD/NVIDIA, plus a global pandemic, length of time require to increase capacity, a drought in Taiwan, and the list goes on.

THIS. Buying from scalpers only promotes what they're doing, and I wish more people didn't give in.

The thing is, I bet most of the people paying scalper prices are miners. It's one thing to sink thousands into a gaming rig, but it's not as bad when you're investing into something that will make you money. Even at the ridiculous scalper prices, they're still making their money back in less than a year.

Serial numbers associated with those cards should be nul and voids. If evga sold those to a retailer and that what happens to the cards then they should be cut out of the loop.

It's crazy thinking about how much money eBay is making from their 10-15% final item value fee, let alone scalpers making a killing like this Johnwcaustin Serial numbers associated with those cards should be nul and voids. If evga sold those to a retailer and that what happens to the cards then they should be cut out of the loop.
Sadly this wouldn't work simply due to the fact that eBay doesn't actually intercept packages (except for the global shipping program), nor do they require Serial numbers on products to be posted as far as I'm aware

I just saw the video on this. As explained in the video, these where sold a day or two after they was made available to the public. I've been fighting like hell to get one for my daughter, its the last piece she needs to complete her very first build she paid with her own money. She threw in the towel trying to get one at MSRP as she learned from me telling her not to pay scalper prices.

Sad. I remember walking into a store back in 2000 to buy my first video card and it brought me so much joy. The cost then was around 300-500 canadian. Now its less about gaming/having fun. The world has turned into such a capitalist greed/money. :( I just wish mining/scalping wasn't part of it.

They arrested 3 or 4 people for price gouging and horde stocking on Craigslist in my area last year. Mostly TP and sanitizer wipes etc so why not? Why? because gpu's are probably not considered essential items.

From that video, At least bot, they still suck for gamers, at least buy the card in a somewhat conventional way while these scalpers making deals with the retailers so that we don't even have a chance on winning the "Who orders first" game. Very disappointed about these bulk graphic card listings

Only if it is for work. You can live fine without a top gaming GPU if you use it just for entertainment. There are other hobbies, older/non-AAA games, etc.

WOW! That has to be a whole pallet's worth of gpu's to one person there in that video. Yes, its really hard getting cards and unless you have family that works at a bestbuy, microcenter, newegg, etc... that can get in and grab ahead of the public your gonna have a tough time getting one as a normal customer. The way electronics usually depreciate its just not worth it for a gamer to pay scalping prices. As people do get thru the queues and more and more orders get filled the pressure will come off and it will open up eventually and normalize. Patience is a virtue for a reason.

It's not EVGA's fault people are scalping the GPU. Just ignore those listing. If I were you, I would stop looking for a GPU on eBay when I know there is no chance you can find a good GPU at a reasonable price nowadays.

For as long as mining on GPU's continues to be very profitable, there will be a healthy scalper market. There is always going to be the occasional gamer who would be desperate enough to spend 3x msrp on a GPU, but I think the majority of people that buy scalped GPU's are miners. As you said, it very easy to make back that money so who cares what the price is.
