Re:EVGA Z77/Z75 Motherboards - BIOS 1.22 Released 2014/04/10 00:46:07 (permalink)
I finally managed to get my FTW to work.
I notice that the system is visibly slower than with my old Sapphire z68 platinum... It troubles me.
All settings on the Sapphire where on Auto, no optimizations, no overclock.
Now it seems that all is delayed of 3-4 seconds, even in desktop tasks.

Is there a hope for a 1.23 or 2.0 final bios to be released? Or even a community modded one?

Again, for the z68platinum, Sapphire released a new bios two months ago.

Is EVGA supposed to be a better manufacturer?

No they will not launch any more BIOS for Z77 FTW 99%.
They have 2 new series Z87 and Z97.
It's bad they didn't launch nice BIOS and for us as for X79 FTW.
I think that was possible. Last BIOS is 1.22.

Lets's hope and pray, that potential customers do some good research into how EVGA treats it's customers, and go and shop elsewhere.
This will mean the demise of this company, which will bring some retribution to it's long suffering customers.

Re:EVGA Z77/Z75 Motherboards - BIOS 1.22 Released 2014/05/23 00:43:43 (permalink)
Excuse me but I think to keep EVGA hardware, about 1h every day and look video clips of EVGA hardware and pictures of old and new generation. I have fantastic collection of EVGA hardware pictures. Simply that make me happy. OK I'm aware I hit probably one of worse motherboard for memory compatibility and OC, but for now CPU OC work well and as I can see graphic cards 2-3 way SLI work OK.
BIOS is simple, old fashioned, better compare to old blue BIOS I call him on previous motherboards of other brands, but much worse than any Z77 series BIOS and than new BIOS for EVGA motherboards. That was second year how ASUS and other have much improved BIOS and EVGA still didn't change almost nothing, like they treat Z77 as revision of P67. They whole year try to update and improve BIOS some things they improve but most of mistakes are made during build and that was no chance to fix. Simply motherboard is build and chipset is treated as P67 and Z68 but Z77 bring lot of new better things, special much much faster memory and they didn't pay attention on that, they forget Intel NET Controler, some problems with Marvell SATA Controller, motherboard unable to read XMP profiles in 90% of cases not even to think about last fastest profile, she don't recognize that at all, no bluetooth everything what people want. They could start production of new series Z77 after 6-7 months, revision but board get really bad status and that would be lose of money. People couldn't sell for 150$ new board. I think people could better sell X58 Classified than new Z77 FTW. Because lot of EVGA customer are concentrate on their graphic cards and cross on ROG boards, many of them suffered with X79 series too EVGA decide to made nice X79 motherboard for Sandy Bridge E and Ivy Bridge E. I choose Z77, I could choose X79 FTW and EVGA allow only to pay 100-150$ for using 1-2 years motherboard and give them new X79 Dark. After 6-7 months when they figure out what make most of problem easy people start to talk about Haswell and 1150 socket and no time for solution.
That new BIOS what I mean as on X79 SLI, X79 FTW and X79 Classified could improve only from visual side, using mouse and etc...
he can't fix nothing.
Now EVGA didn't miss to implement M.2, maybe not in all motherboard but I think and ROG motherboards don't support and that is not real SATA Express speed as we expect 20000Mb/s but again they didn't forget, they pay attention on new things, that give hope for future.

it would be worth noting, that there was a BIOS version 1.24 for the Stinger released in February 2014, dunno why this was done all hush hush...

BIOS 1.24 Updates:
  • Fix CPU LED Temp does not show in UEFI BIOS
  • Add support for Marvell 9182 RAID
Unfortunately no other improvements, RAM speeds beyond 1866 are still out of reach...

So, they fixed the led temp issue when using UEFI for the Stinger but not for the FTW.
It should not be so hard to fix then.

Please do the same led temp fix for the FTW version also.

I can't complain on RAM issue because I didn't had money for more expensive ram than 1866MHz.
I keep on that speed with little lower timings. My board finish her duty, almost 3 years, he full fill what I expect 4.5GHz constant is what I expect from Ivy Bridge, and I have pretty nice processor sample. Not golden sample but far over average.

well thats it with evga for me. My refurbished board is finally dieing on me. Get green light on board power button. Usb ports a beginning to stop working. Cannot get bios 1 to work at all with any of these hiccups. Since people are having problems with their recent boards... looks like i will be jumping the evga ship and on to better things. I know evga has awesome customer support but i think its for a reason. their products suck so they have to have awesome customer support. Can't believe i gave my gigabyte z77 to my brother. that thing was a tank!

I would greatly appreciate this fix for the FTW version, what I have noticed is in EVGA E-LEET Tuning Utitlity the LED on the Motherboard is matching the CPU temperatures that will be about 12 degrees Celcius higher then the package temperature. The Package temperature is about 5-6 degrees higher then the core teperature... I wish I knew more about how these are all related... I'm using a I5-2500k with a stock cooler and stock no overclock... Thank you for your time...

EVGA Z68 Motherboards (E685)
I see that R16 added support for Ivy Bridge CPUs.
Does that mean the following updates (R21 & R22) also support them? or only the R16 BIOs?
Would this include Xeon Ivy Bridges?

EVGA_JacobF
BIOS 1.22 Updates:
  • Improved XMP support
  • Fixed S1 Resume bug
  • Fixed bug with disabling onboard audio
  • Fixed PLL not enabling when under 2133MHz memory clock

Windows Installation
  • Download the correct .zip file below for your motherboard:
         151-IB-E699-KR - EVGA Z77 FTW
        111-IB-E692-KR - EVGA Z77 Stinger
        131-IB-E695-KR - EVGA Z75 SLI
  • First go into your BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
  • Close all open programs.
  • Go into the folder where you unzipped this package and run the appropriate batch file.
    • For Windows XP, Vista or 7 32Bit: FPTWIN32.BAT
    • For Windows XP, Vista or 7 64Bit: FPTWIN64.BAT
    • If in DOS Mode: FPTDOS.BAT
  • Press Y in CAPITAL LETTERS to start the flash process
  • DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR RESET DURING THE FLASH PROCESS
  • After the flashing is finished, the system will automatically shut down. Then power on again and go into BIOS, Load Defaults, Save and Exit.
  • To verify the BIOS flashed properly, go into BIOS and check Overview Tab; BIOS should list as version 1.22 with a release date of 03/07/2013

USB Flash Drive Installation
  • Visit this thread and follow the installation instructions. (Thanks Lvcoyote!).

Warning:
**Do not restart or interrupt your PC while the flash is ongoing
**Do not Flash BIOS on overclocked settings

I downloaded the Bios but the readme for all of them say "for the Z77 FTW" I have the Z77 Stinger and I don't want to ruin my BIOS with the wrong version.

I was able to get 16GB (4x4GB) 2133mhz memory working with the z77 FTW. I had to manually set all the memory parameters I could find using AIDA64 to read the SPD of the memory. Using the XMP profiles lead to the boot looping and error code 55... I hope this helps others with this motherboard.

I've been having boot issues with my Z77 FTW since I switch it to UEFI boot, it just hasnt been making it to BIOS POST.
After headaches with EVGA support telling me to reinstall Windows (I don't know how this would fix it when I can't even get to BIOS with or without the SSD attached) I finally replaced my BIOS chip and got the system working.
Now with my BIOS on v1.22 it can't see my GPT partitioned drive, even though it boots fine on an earlier version of the BIOS.
So now I have to reinstall Windows for a 3rd time with MBR...so sick of this board *sigh*

Sorry to bring back an old tread but I cannot for the life of me (neither can EVGA support) figure out where the CSM settings are in this bios (1.22 or even 1.02) so I can change from UEFI to Legacy+UEFI or just Legacy? Does anyone still rock this ancient thing and recall where it is or how to do it?
