So, EVGA is hazing us?

No, I get what you are trying to say, but I don’t see how it is “paying dues”. Nobody owes EVGA anything. If you are trying to say that waiting is part of the opportunity cost to have what we really want, sure. That’s just the way things work. By that same token, by not releasing the board in a timely manner, EVGA could be losing out on customers. It goes both ways.

Yeah, I see that Gigabyte (a company that I'd have NEVER considered buying a board from in the past) has really brought their A-game with the Designare and AORUS Master (the Extreme is just too damned expensive), and I can buy both right now for ~$270-290.  I still want the DARK, but I also want to know around *when* in "December" it can be expected to be available, because Provantage only has a 30 day return window from the date of the invoice.  I don't think it's out of the question to ask for rough estimates on availability.

If you are looking at the Gigabyte stuff go check out Buildzoids channel here - Actually Hardcore Overclocking
Gigabyte sent him some boards to review, not sure if he has done any of the ones you mentioned above yet though

How is it that my 9900k finally arrives on Tuesday and the two main boards I want to use the Dark and the ASUS Gene are not available, at least not in North America with the Gene and, of course, not at all with the Dark!

Kudos for not supply drivers on CDs...
But I wish more motherboard manufacturers adhered to features mentioned in a video  from Paul's Hardware channel on Youtube (Google "My Top 5 FAVORITE Motherboard Features!")
1) Flush UEFI/BIOS without CPU/Memory (Asus USB BIOS Flashback/Gigabyte Q-FlashPlus) * Most important*
2) Surface mounted Power/Reset
3) LED Post readout/CPU temp - can turn off or match case lighting colour scheme
4) Clear CMOS (Reset BIOS setting) on rear IO - for overclockers
5) Advanced Fan Controls - setup
Gigabtye like Fan stop/custom Fan Curve Speed tuning.
    thermal sensors
    4 Pin Fan Headers.
    Dedicated Fan Header for pump

board mounted overclocking button controls are not useful - can't use when parts in case.

2080 FTW3 ordered this morning with that eBay promo from Newegg.  TIs are too damned expensive, and the way I see it, the less I spend now, the more justified I'll feel if/when nVidia releases a better revision of the RTX cards.

Again, all these expensive components and no word on the board I want to plug them all into.

Seriously - when a company clams up like this, it's usually due to one of two things, and I've faith that EVGA hasn't boned the first:
1) There's a problem with the hardware.
2) There's a problem with the *price*, and they want to hold off on releasing that as long as possible, because they might be undercut by rivals, or crucified by their prospective buyers.

Yup, and that super good deal on the Aorus Master board ends on the 26th. -_-

I know it's not in the same class as the DARK or Xtreme board, but I just spent $800 on a GPU today.  My wallet still feels hot to the touch.

I don't know Buildzoid called the VRM garbage and has also said he has knowledge of the Dark that he cannot share, but that he is quote, "really excited [about the Dark]." I do hope the price point of the Dark is $399, the best board for overclocking at that price point would make it epic!

He didn't say it was garbage, he said it just wasn't "world record overclocking" level (and that it had no business having a second 8-pin connector), and that it was way less efficient than it *should* be with regards to hardware and BIOS tuning.  He concluded with saying that it was still the best "not looking to break records" (or something to that effect) Z390 board he'd seen thus far.

they make a dominator rated to 4000.   It has a kit to add the led lighting though.  I kinda like the vengence with the built in led.  Think the 4000 would be ok too?

Killeen. 4000 will work if your cpu is willing to run at that speed.

Anything over 2666 MHz is considered overclocking. 3200 should work fine, but getting 4000 to run will greatly depend on how good your cpu imc is.

Sajin, is there *any* new (and preferably a bit more concrete) information you can give us about the DARK's availability?  You're the only 'official' that's posted in here in quite some time.

Why announce a product that you can't bring to market in a timely manner? Its been every launch in the last few cycles. I don't get making consumers work hard to buy your wares, but maybe that's part of the marketing machine.

I'm the same way. I want the best chance at the highest overclocks I can get, period. I've been buying Apex boards the last couple gens and have really loved them. Not interested in a 4 DIMM board and Asus has kind of let me down with Z390. No Gene in the states, and they changed a couple things on the Apex I'm not a big fan of. I might give the Dark a chance this round. I've never had an EVGA board but have always wanted to try one. I guess we'll have to see if it's ever actually available to buy.

As of now, I'm just planning to use my M10 Apex until I can either get my hands on a Z390 Dark or the M11 Apex.

Waiting for the z390 Dark as well.... :(  My 9900k will be here tomorrow too.  Been an ASUS fan forever, but their latest offering for z390 seems to have a lot of negativity around it.  Finally after 8 years I'm upgrading from a ASUS RE3 / Intel 980X OC'ed at 4.6.  This will be my first EVGA board...Always been interested, but never pulled the trigger on one.

I have always had great luck with the EVGA motherboards.
Got most all my components now just sitting here awaiting on this new Dark board.
I sure hope I am available at the time they are released to get an order in and get one asap after release.

I almost think the ASUS Z370 Apex is the only alternative, the design idea is the same as the Dark, but who wants to run a legacy chipset.
