Still happens, you enable Turbo Performance and Memory does not set as you did in Bios. I set memory ratio to 1333MHz to have 2000MHz, and still set 800MHz.

Yes, this is expected if Turbo Performance is enabled.

Why is this necessary, Turbo Performance would be a desirable feature if it wasnt for this.  Why do you have to set the memory so low just to allow the 2x bin multiplier on 1 core to show up more?

no turbo performance has nothjing to do with turbo mode, it's just a tweak to make gulftown perf slightly faster. you can call it tweak performance, etc  just happened to think of turbo due to terminology cliches

So the fact that with Turbo Performance enabled (along with Turbo Mode, SpeedStep and CxE Function set to C6 but its Turbo Performance that makes all the difference when it comes to the frequency of the 26x multi) I see my 26x multiplier on Core 0 alot more and without having to specifically load Core 0 on its own, is just a side effect?  Its definitely caused by Turbo Performance, with just turbo mode enabled i hardly see it, infact to make the 26x multi appear on core 0 I have to populously load Core 0 but if i enabled Turbo Performance i will see it appear pretty much constantly.

Alot of other people are seeing this also, those with 920's are seeing the 22x multi on Core 0 with turbo Performance enabled which is screwing up their OC's.

With just Turbo Mode, SpeedStep and CxE Function set to C6 you basically never see the 26x multiplier (for the i7 965) on Core 0 but if you enable turbo performance you see it every few seconds and it lasts 5-10sec (roughly on my system).  Again this is without the need to specifically load core 0 with something like LinX which i had to do before or if Turbo Performance is disabled.

On a side note
this BIOS 49 totally messed up my Windows install, luckily i managed to save it by going back to an earlier BIOS (not the same one as i mistakenly flashed 224 instead of 22D), when i flashed 49 my Windows 7 install took ages to load not only the password screen but also my apps that usually appear in a blink of an eye since i have a SSD (i do have some secondary apps on a Raptor 150GB but they still dont take long to load), infact my Anti Virus wouldnt load at all, i tried several different times.

I also looked in Device manager and noticed a bunch of USB had a yellow warning sign next to them and did a couple of my USB Root Hub, when i tried to remove then reinstall the USB devices that had the yellow warning sign they wouldnt reinstall, they just lay dead.

Not sure why this seems to be an isolated incident, i have flash BIOS's many times and do it the correct way of power off the system + PSU, remove battery, leave it for 5mins, re-insert the battery, return power to system, go into BIOS load defaults, restart and load DOS using thumbdrive, flash using AWDFLASH tool, once done shut down, remove power to PSU, remove battery, leave for 5 mins, replace battery, turn on system, go into BIOS and load defaults, restart and then start making changes like setting sata to RAID etc.

Maybe a bad flash or may be down to the other issues i have been having with this board, i have an RMA on it due tpo it sometimes coming up with FF when i first try and turn it on or sometimes the graphics card in the primary slot isnt recognised, these are very rare but they never happened on my original E759 which i had alot longer.

So...if all the info I've gathered is correct I should disable my OC and put it all to stock/default. Do a Data back-up.... flash this bios... reinstall my os and then all my drivers and programs... start to oc with turbo mode on and turbo performance mode off in order to oc without issues to my 920 D0 chip and its oc-ing abilities.... Correct?

EDIT:

Also, just to be sure... this works with a 759 classified...correct? Annnnnd..... when flashing with the CD/DVD method should I have only one ram dimm in the system? Or does it not make a difference? I only ask as when I initially upgraded to bios 44 with all my ram in it caused my ram to become corrupt and I had to RMA it with Corsair....

THANKS!

I guess everyone is having a good time with the new bios then. I'll be flashing tonight when I get home from work.

Molten,
Did you by any chance have Windows in the AHCI drivers loaded. Cuz bios Defaults have it disabled.

yeah i think alot of the issues stem from people not knowing what settings they should run with...and when they flash they forget to change things back...

Just installed this update this morning and now windows 7 (x64) won't recognize that VT is enabled. Shows up in the BIOS as being enabled, but when I start Virtual PC, it isn't letting me run anything. Anyone else experiencing this?

Same here!!! My Virtual Pc won't start cause its saying that it's not on (BUT it is ON!!)  Come on Jacob can you guys test this stuff out please? (should have been tested before BIOS release!) VT is not working with this BIOS. Please check it out and tested for next BIOS. Thanks!

I think the problem stems from going to default before bios install, Then after the bios is installed they (including me) jump to the overclocking settings they had before the bios upgrade and find themselves unstable.
Like shimano said with turbo performance enabled your overclocking on top of an already overclocked system which causes instability.

So either the bios is not reporting the vt enable correctly to windows or it's a dummy switch and is broken.

Does this also address the USB issues?

I just had a usb lockup that I havent had in a while. I had come out of hibernation, plugged in a usb wifi card, locked up, soft reset, keyboard not found at reboot after bios failed to recognized raid drives. After a hard shut down and power down I rebooted without any problems...

Weird.

Yep, I just cleared my cmos and re-entered my overclock manually and enabled VT but it didn't work. Jacob said they are looking into it

Dear EVGA: Congratulations on fixing the long standing double pump with VT enabled. You have my gratitude for that! I had followed up on that bug for a long time!

Now, can you please fix the S3 issue with 1.1 boards also. It has been reported to the techs as well as here in forums several times. Here is the issue:

You can not overclock 758 SLI board beyond 4Ghz and resume successfully from S3 sleep. Using manual vcore to go 4.2 or 4.4Ghz, resume fails after 3rd attempt. The system just reboots instead of resuming.  This is a major issue because I can not use my stable overclock of 4.4Ghz because of this issue.

If an overclock is done with Auto vcore (to 4Ghz), the resume from S3 works but with some peculiar side effects. After the sixth suspend, when the system comes out of sleep, the VREG and SYSTEM (normally in 30's, goes to mid-40s) temperatures are abnormally high. VREG which is normally in 40-50's at idle, goes to 60-70's at idle. SYSTEM which is normally in 30's at idle system, goes to mid-40s with system being idle.

VREG temps start out high in upper 50s and fall with every suspend-resume cycle, and then after 6th resume, they shoot up like crazy to upper 60's and lower 70's! All these temps are at idle!

These symptoms are fairly easily reproducible and have been reproduced by many folks on this forum. So, it should not be very hard for you to replicate the issue.

Thank you for listening to your customers!

Yes, this is expected if Turbo Performance is enabled.

What does this mean?  Can you please explain what makes this "expected" behavior?  Unit a concrete explanation is provided this will no doubt remain a bug that you are unsure how to or unable to resolve as of yet.

Now, in terms of the general issues with the BIOS I will list the ones I have found below.

1. VT does not work at all any more.  Yes, there is no more double-pump on every reboot including soft reboots which is great but there is no VT enabled and VT cannot be enabled.
2. Resuming from S3 will still set CAS value of DRAM to CAS 11 regardless of the BIOS setting causing system instability.

3. Setting 2:10 DRAM multiplier does not work when Turbo Performance is enabled.
4. There is a noticeable delay during POST.

This is just what I have observed quickly.  Can we please make sure that these issues get addressed.  I have listed them here in the order of priority and highlighted the critical issues, VT obviously being the most important followed by the S3 CAS problem.  The last two are not as important though resolving #3 would be strongly desirable.

Jacob, Peter, can you please comment?

It makes changes to the CPU Microcode, which may allow slightly better performance, but it can affect memory dividers, regarding VT, we are looking into this.

Still happens, you enable Turbo Performance and Memory does not set as you did in Bios. I set memory ratio to 1333MHz to have 2000MHz, and still set 800MHz.

Yes, this is expected if Turbo Performance is enabled.

I think it is great that EVGA is looking for ways for us to squeeze extra performance out of our CPUs.  But I'd really like to be able to set a memory divider and have it actually apply.  With Turbo Performance enabled I am sometimes seeing the correct memory divider, and sometimes it defaults to something lower (for me, I usually use a 2:14 divider, and am finding it often set to 2:10.)

Sets ICH Voltage to 1.1v as Default

Should i set this manually if i don't flash to this BIOS version?

Guys with the VT issue, Re-examine your setting in the new bios. I'm typing this post from my VT insallation on Windows 7 x86. Everything came up fine, like before. the one thing I did notice is that the bios boot faster than the previous versions. The first post screen flashes by so fast now, you could miss seeing your hdd's. Also, if you have your HDD's in AHCI mode, Set it to that again in the new bios. It will double pump after the change, but that the only time it will. Enjoy, and thank EVGA for the fast Bios.

Its not only VT , there are more settings that make the board shut down instead of just reboot.
Like memory settings.
Time they remove all the shutdowns.

XMP fixed in this bios?

It is for me. Bios 44 did not apply the XMP profile.

Bios 49 does apply the XMP profile.

At present, running 3.352 GHz only by selecting turbo, XMP and dummy OC with an i7 920.

I am not sure what you are suggesting that I try.  I have flashed like this...

1. Reset the S22D BIOS I was using to defaults, saved, and rebooted.
2. Hammered ESC and flashed to 49 BIOS from USB stick with awdflash /Wb /cd /cc commands.
3. Went into BIOS and loaded all defaults, saved, and rebooted.
4. Went into BIOS again and started loading my settings, including VT.

This is where things break down as there is no way I can get VT to enable in the true sense.  The BIOS says enabled but it is definitely not enabled.

It makes changes to the CPU Microcode, which may allow slightly better performance, but it can affect memory dividers, regarding VT, we are looking into this.

Thanks Jacob.  One more question...are you looking into issue #2, the CAS latency value after S3 resume?  That one causes major instability in my system after resuming.  Problem is not present in older BIOS, specifically S22D and older.  Again, I have no option but to flash down to S22D.
