Battery Matter

If I leave the motherboard (680i SLI) without a battery for a few weeks is that gonna kill the board ?  I wouldn't have thought so but the thing won't post and that's the only thing I did... remove the battery and didn't get back to it for a while...  any ideas... I just have the good old '--"

    Definitely not.
    But it's possible that the battery connections are dirty. Take it out again and clean it with some alcohol to remove any greasy fingerprints.  

    Current settings:
    MB: 680i
    CPU: QX6700 @3200MHz
    RAM: 8GB OCZ @1066MHz @ 2.0v
    OS: Win7 64bit

    Cleaned it too and that's what I thought... the battery just keeps the clock ticking... so bottom line here is "--" equals death for some other reason.. I have it on the bench and will toy with it, but its likely just destined for the recycle bin... thanks... m
