Hello people! Just saw the good deal that is the EVGA X299 DARK, 151-SX-E299-KR right now. Although all the memory kits in the QVL seem outdated or not suited for my needs. I found two kits that i think would do it (planning to get a 10900x/10920x) but sadly it's not in the QVL. CMW32GX4M4D3600C18 F4-3400C16Q-32GTZKW Any input on that ? Thank you!

Just because a memory kit isn't listed in the QVL doesn't mean it won't work.

Check with the RAM Mfg, see if they have tested that combo

Yep..RAM manufacturers usually also have their own QVL listing compatible mobos.

Best Memory Kit for EVGA X299 Dark. CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 4x8GB 2666MHz C15 - CMD32GX4M4A2666C15. That's natural kit for X299. Everything above is OC. If someone want to pay more and invest in almost none performance difference could buy same kit only 3200MHz. I never had idea to invest in memory because better performance and I have one of first DDR4 kit available. If 2666MHz is too slow for someone then 3200MHz is reasonable, everything above is for people with deep pocket. Better is investment 4x16GB slower then if someone plan to stay longer with platform and maybe install one day new Windows with more memory usage. You even could replace silver heatsink with black, Cablemod sell mod kit.

@Everybody
Thank you for your time! I didn’t think of gskill’s or corsair’s QVL, will look into that! Being an early adopter of the Rampage V (X99) with a 3000c15 kit i had so much trouble running this. But i guess ddr4 has matured since then. Let’s hope memory training is more forgiving when it comes to memory oc ;)

I had CORSAIR 2666MHz and GSkill 2800MHz, both QVL for Rampage V X99, and they worked. But performance difference in benchmark test was 1-2% in favor of GSkill. I left Dominator because nicer heatsink and because 2133/2666/3200 worked best on X99 Haswell-E and Broadwell-E. A lot of people struggle with XMP. Later they set manual, decrease timmings and command rate and surprise with better results then XMP and ask self why they even bother with XMP. I'm not sure, but I fight with XMP on RVE and suddenly I couldn't change setting with voltage or frequency on processor without BSOD during post. My motherboard litterary need defibrilator, only defibrilator for RVE was ASUS Flashback Utility far more effective then installing new BIOS with software. He revive mobo litterary and everything start to work normally. XMP influence on that way that BSOD happen if I downclock CPU with same voltage, any change of frequency. Later when I fix XMP and compare with manual I had little better result because lower timmings and command rate and ask self Why I even used stupid XMP.

No, not at all..Something like the F4-2400C15D-16GVR Ripjaws V 2 x 8GB kit should be fine..The price at Newegg is great..And, an EVGA X299 is on their QVL here..I wouldn't get anything less than 16GB these days, myself.

Stay at least with 2666MHz RAM. I think that's specification for Intel X299 Chipset. I would not go below 2666 or above 3200MHz. Model of memory could be even 5 years old. These new kits are only to people spent money without reason. Most of them will switch to DDR5 before usage reach 20% of their free memory in any situation. People pay for RGB and non visible performance in real life. Half of people who have 32 and 64GB kits still use 250GB M.2, HDD and 500GB SATA III SSD. Better to use 16GB and 1-2TB SSD and M.2 drives. SATA III SSD and M.2 are multifunctional devices and should be big, they could be used in Mini PC, Playstation, laptops, etc... when you replace with better models. Investing in memory is wasting of money for gaming. Tomorrow you can pay Intel Hades Canyon or successor Barebone 900$ instead 2000$ and install 2x 1TB M.2 from PC and 2x8GB RAM SO-DIMM for 100$ just to use arround during build new PC.

Dark will happily run 4000mhz quad channel with low cas numbers.No reason to use anything less than a 3200mhz kit otherwise your kneecapping your performance. Fast ram and tightened sutimings will help hugely with frame pacing and help compensate for increased latency the mesh architecture used on the cpus brings. I have a f4-3600C16-32gtzkk kit that will do 4000mhz-C16 memtest stable. What you really want is a nice set of B-Die sticks.

Hello! @jollydet, what is b-die exactly ? it's an ic version from samsung ? Also price/availability is becoming an issue once you hit 3600mhz (on newegg/amazon canada that is).

Ripjaws V are pretty old kits so prices are all over the place on them as they are probably clearing inventory. Their XMP profile is also optimized for dual channel setups they will work in quad channel but you may need to do some tweaking.

Avenger411 is this a better fit ? https://www.newegg.ca/g-skill-32gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232436 It's advertised for the z370 platform which is dual channel though. Quad channel kits work well in dual channel ?
That kit will work fine its also on the QVL list for the dark Both of these are pure black and much faster b-die kits especially if plan to play with memory overcloking. if your prepared to spend the extra $ of course. F4-3600C16Q-32GTZKK (i have two of these kits and they will run 4000mhzC16 mem test stable in my dark) F4-3733C17Q-32GTZKK this kit is actually cheaper than the above listed kit for some reason.
