So I spent days researching parts for my new PC to replace my 15 year old potato and after ordering
remembered the 4000 series special plug requirements...

Can a EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G5 80 Plus Gold 850W run a 4070 ti?
I know it's enough power, but is it technically capable of powering it?

This should not be a problem, but if you are considering to overclock both CPU and GPU then personally I'd prefer a bit more juice.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

I'm upgrading from a 15 year old Phenom II system to Ryzen 7700 + 4070 Ti, overclocking wont be necessary ;)

After 9 days of waiting the newegg order finally arrived.  They sent the wrong PSU, 850 platinum instead of gold, ain't sending it back,
as long as it fits :)

I just upgraded from my X79 Dark (11 years old) and got the EVGA SuperNOVA 850 T2 power supply with a 4070Ti and 13900KF. No issues with power at all (been up and running for 2 days, CineBench R23 ran, 3DMark ran).

Can see my new rig details in my signature.

You got my GPU.  That thing is heavy isn't it. Did you use the support bracket from the GPU or the case?

Yes, it sure is! I feel a bit bad for the poor UPS guy. I did not use any bracket. The power supply in the Meshify 2 does not seem to have any wiggle room underneath it and the case so I did not bother. There is no vibration from what I can tell either.I will keep an eye on it and may try to force a rubber washer or two between it and the case once I know for sure the system is table for a week or so.

As for the GPU it comes with a little extendable tube thingy but it does not fit between the card and the Meshify 2 even at lowest extension. It is about 5 mm too long and I am not going to try force it. The GPU does not seem to be sagging at all though.

My UPS guy had to carry 3 40 pound bags of litter up 10 steps to the porch and then the newegg box (I think the later
was the easy part :) ).  For some reason he wasn't very chatty...weird :)
Got the system mostly done, some of the fanhub stuff on the torrent was confusing.
They just don't use words anymore in manuals, it's mostly pictures these days.
If you see a mushroom cloud on Saturday i turned the PC on...
