There is an issue with Media Player Classic Home Cinema (MPC-HC) and Precision X where the video player crashes very often when Precision X is open. As soon as I close down Precision X the problem goes away. I am running Windows 10 Professional.

With the OSD enabled click on the EVGA server in your task bar and set MPC as an exception so it will not appear on it. I had the same issue and did that to fix it. Same thing to fix it for MS Word and web browsers.

I have had this same issue with the current version of Precision X, Media Player Home classic crashes with Precision X.  Placing an exception into the Server never made a difference.  What I did was remove the 64bit version of Media Player Classic, installed the 32bit version, added an exception into Precision Server and it worked.  Could be an issue with the 64bit version not working with Precision.
 
The other issue I am encountering and it seems pretty common in the geforce forums is false reporting under Windows 10 vram usage with Precision X and Afterburner as well.  Just wondering if this is being looked at.  I get crazy amounts of Vram usage being reported in Precision X.  Battlefield Hardline says I am using 13gb of Vram and other games report very odd usage.  

I think it's time to simply switch to a different company for software. Had to remove the latest version of Precision because it crashes any video program in Windows 7 64-bit, not just media player classic but everything: VLC, WMP10 and even DivX. Tired of the lag too when navigating the program while running. Two versions ago it was smooth as butter, now I have a 4-5 second delay when trying to press any action button in Precision.

The Server exclusion list doesn't seem to work anymore in the latest version. I get Dota 2 crashing, MPC, GSCO, Heroes of the Storm stuck cursor...etc. One great application marred by a silly bug and an even sillier workaround.

Is this with the absolute newest version, 5.3.8? If so, please post full system specs, as they worked to correct the issue and the crashes have stopped occurring for most people.

This will give EVGA a chance to look and see if there is something specifically causing interference.

Also, please verify your version in precision, make sure it displays 5.3.8 as well please.

Nah, that was with 5.3.7. Same day (or next one), 5.3.8 is released and fixes the issues mentioned!

since upgrading to windows 10 evga x16 has been crashing all my games  they work fine when i dont use  x 16.. i use the x16 to keep my card cool... so whats the deal!!

If you're still using 5.3.7, try 5.3.8 that just came out.

Can anyone inform me please if there is any EVGA GTX980 monitoring software that is NOT Precision X.  Crashes games, loses icons, profile management is poor.  I know its Precision X causing the issues, as they are non-existent when its not running.  I require a different product, as without it my fans never spin - even after 60C.  Card has been tested as fully functional.

[Edit: I persevered a little longer: manual uninstall, reboot, re-install, reboot resolved the issue for me, though i had performed this sequence prior to original post.  Not sure what changed.]

when i set up the osd, it doesn't show up in star wars the old republic.
any suggestions on how to fix it?
forget it, i switched to afterburner, and it works very well. so long percision x16.

Could you try MSI afterburner? The Precision Software is slowly getting better, but still has some quirks.

i am getting an error pop up on install ... error 1316 the specified account already exists ?
I cant find any fix for this ... tried uninstalling , registry sweep , reinstall still same error pops up...
any ideas ? or has anyone heard of why this is happening ?

Could you try the steam version and see if it works?

Stick with AB or 4.2.1 then, so that you can keep going. Sorry the regular install isnt working.

Okay, gonna list out some stuff that I'm having trouble with.
1. Program takes a very long time, ~90 sec to start up with Windows
2. Voltage in Overboost will not remain constant and regularly lowers itself by 6-12mV after reboot
3. Program will occasionally make the Windows start menu behave very strangely (may have something to do with the fact that I have surround enabled)
4. Temp target lowers itself from 91C to 90C after every reboot
5. Experiencing strange stuttering and interface lag for the first 30 sec after turning on my computer when start up is enabled
 
There are some other things I'd personally like to see changed like the confusing requirement for OV to be enabled to utilize Overboost and the inability to uninstall/disable EVGA server while PX is installed, but if the above things were fixed, I'd be happy.

This happened to me also, but i fixed it by uninstalling and then deleting the EVGA folder.  I then reinstalled it and all was back to normal.

That only worked for me during the same session. After rebooting the PC I could not see PrecisionX working anymore on my taskbar nor could access it :(

Just installed PrecisionX 16 on windows 10 PC, tried to open it and nothing is displaying. Opened task manager I it running. But the desktop show nothing. Please help 
EVGA 970 04G-P4-3975-KR card the fans never come on hoping this will fix my issue.
