Re: EVGA Precision X1 1.1.4 - BUGS/FEEDBACK 2020/12/24 10:41:54 (permalink)
Just to add to the mix.  Precision X1 worked fine for the 3070 FTW, but when I added a 3080FTW to the same build it would no longer scan; stayed at 0% forever (overnight).  Shouldnt be power, unless the 1300W PSU can't handle these cards.  Removing the 3070 and scanning the 3080 alone worked for a bit - then the system rebooted.  The event log error from was event id 4101 - "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

This is AFTER I followed the FAQ to uninstall everything (DDE, X1, Drivers); cold boot with 5 minute rest to drain the GPU cards, etc.

Currently driver 460.89, X1 is v1.1.1.4, current edition windows 10, etc...

Possible NVM - got the same fault on the driver while NOT scanning; just watching a youtube video.  Going back to 457.51 for a bit.

I noticed an issue present since all the new Precision x1 versions for the RTX 30 series cards. While PX1 is idle in the background it is using around 0.5-0.9% cpu usage. I had an older version on PX1 with my 2080 TI XC Ultra that did not do this. It would idle at constant 0% cpu usage.

main problem right now with PX1 is i have a noctua 200mm Fan hooked up to the header. upon start of PX1, it doesnt pick up the ext fan since its not spinning. I literally ahve to open the front panel of my case, manually spin the fan and start PX1 so it will pick it up.

That doesn't sound like a PX1 issue but an issue with the Header being able to start the fan.  When fans initially start they require quite a bit more power vs when they are just running.
Move the fan to a different header like on your motherboard and I bet that problem goes away.

I have noticed that X1 will not be loaded when i sign in sometimes. I keep my PC on pretty much all the time but will lock it when not in use. When I sign in again X1 will not be running and I will have to start it. This happens randomly.

I also seem to not be able to save power and temp settings. If i adjust my temp it will not save and for some reason the power setting changes. I dont have them linked either.

I can confirm some of the issues above. X1 ver. 1.1.4 @ 3090 FTW3 Ultra Gaming.
  1. The applied & saved settings are SOMETIMES NOT applied after reboot. Of course I have the checkbox checked.
  2. If I unlink the power target of the GPU temperature slider & set the power target separately to e.g. 107 % & the GPU temp e.g. 80 °C, it will reload with correct 80 °C temperature but tie the power target to 87 %!

that's what i thought too but this only happens at the FIRST start up, from reboot/shutdown. As long as the app has picked up the fan, even if i come from sleep mode after like 8 hours, 0 problem, the fan spins.

Hi!

The manually set fan curve (see picture attached) doesn't go above 55%. When I start playing the fans are turning on when the temperature reaches 50 Celsius, but when the GPU's temperature reaches 68 Celsius the fans are staying at 55% percent. Noticed this in RD2, tried it in Furmark, same behavior.

Edit: double checked this, if I start Furmark and the GPU's temperature reaches the first threshold, then the fans are starting at 55%, but nothing happens when the GPU's temperature reaches the second threshold, and on the third threshold the fans' speed are changing to 100%. When I close Furmark and the temperature start decreasing the same thing happens, the fans are skipping the second threshold.

RTX 2070 Super, OC Scan goes from 0% to 254% and gives me a failed result.

Hi,
using X1 Precision 1.1.4 and an RTX 3080 XC3 Ultra, I am facing a strange behavior of target section when the application loads the values (i.e. during startup or loading a profile).
On target section, if I unlink power from gpu temp, then I set the target gpu temp to its min value (65) and I apply values everything works as expected.
But whenever I close the application and I reopen it, the target power value becames 29, its the min value and the link with the target gpu temp is restored.
The value on the gpu remains the previously applied one until I change (and apply) any value.

  • Fixes crash on opening due to profile mismatch
  • Fixes issue where the VF Curve does not save correctly

Unfortunately the VF Curve still has some save issues. But improvement so far is greatly appreciated.

Yep this is what I'm also experiencing with as well on the RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra, so basically the software does not like what we told them to do.

If you set VF Curve, and save the profile, then set custom fan speed at a percentage, and apply. After that the VF Curve just magically goes back to default.

RTX 3080 XC3 Ultra
After installing v1.1.4 i did get a 2nd firmware update for my GPU.
After update i notice a big fan speed difference:

Fan 3 is not running the same(ish) speed as fan 1&2. About 20% or more difference.
I use the same duplicate fan curve for all 3 fans.
I also notice more fan noise, as if the fan curve follows fan 3 and fan 1&2 get 20% more than the curve.
The difference is getting less when the GPU is at full load.

Is it a RMA or driver/firmware issue? Can i roll back the firmware?

Thanks!

RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra Gaming (24G-P5-3987-KR)
Win 10 Pro
Precision X1 1.14
Driver 461.09

- X1 never loads a profile on startup. Ever. I always have to manually load a profile after boot, or even a restart of X1, despite having 'Start with OS' and 'Apply previous settings on load' checked.
- Chain link icon for fan speeds always has to be manually reapplied after I load a profile.
- GPU temp in system tray is too small for anything other than a cyborg with magnified ocular implants to read. This was never a problem in versions of Precision prior to X1.
- No settings of any kind can be made to display on Logitech LCD's. Another issue that was not present in versions of Precision prior to X1.
- 'Show profile in tray menu' does nothing. There's no separate display in the tray, and nothing on mouseover or right click of the X1 icon in the tray. It won't even stay selected between startups. Versions prior to X1 worked fine.

Max value not updating consistently. Showing low value while graph clearly shows operation over the displayed Max value.

I noticed in a another thread, a member said he cards firmware was "automatically updated". Another user said he was prompted and given the option to update. Has anyone else received an update when opening PX1, and if so, were you prompted ?  I would find it very odd that firmware updates are forced, rather than having a "check for updates" drop down like they have for the PX1 software itself. Bugs get introduced in updates all the time and they can break things that previously worked. I certainly don't want any type of update force on my card.

More info on not being able to scan, since I haven't seen anyone else post this.

Reading that the OC scan in X1 is really a nvidia tool that everyone is using, I tried to run the nvidia overclock tool on a system with a 3070 and 3080 installed.  The tool responded with a message that scanning for overclock with more than one video card present wasn't supported.   Pulled the 3070, scanned the 3080 - moving on with my life.

You could have just said that it won't scan with 2 cards installed.

FWIW - having the same issues as everyone else with saving fan profiles.

Hi
I just upgraded to EVGA Precision X1 1.1.4 from version 1.0.3 3
I have a GeForce RTX2070.
The upgrade killed the GPU fans (not literally, they just wont spin) The manual fan control does not function any more, selecting a fan speed and then applying it does nothing and the processor temps escalate. I tried uninstalling and going back to an earlier version (1.1.3) but no change. I eventually had to go back to a system restore point to bring back 1.0.3 and that has brought the fans back. Any clues?

I'm also having issues with the X1 OSD not hooking into any DX12 games I've played.

I've tried Anno 1800, F1 2020, Forza Horizon 4 and Hitman 2.

Lately Precision X1 will not save settings at all on reboot. I've done the 'set everything, exit and reload' trick, and it still returns to default on reboot. Yes, the 'apply overclock settings on startup' is checked. Fresh install of Win 10.
