I did a little more troubleshooting trying to reproduce this bug in more scenarios.

Editing any other configuration other than the fan speed after you edit the VF Curve will result in the VF Curve being reset. Editing the VF Curve last and saving will have it persist.

I can't imagine how such an oversight even gets past unit testing.

Not sure my previous bug was fixed as it might be related to a new bug.

After setting up v1.1.4 and then restarting, I have to again input Clocks / voltage, etc.

I do have Apply Previous Settings on Load selected and applied/saved.

How do you save a scanning result? I have been looking everywhere for the answer.

Version 1.1.4 and 1.1.3 has been pretty decent. My curves and clocks all saved with v 1.1.3 along with multiple profiles. I did a bit of gaming last night and COD Cold War had zero crashes with voltage curve from the scan. I just updated to 1.1.4 and all settings automatically imported over. The Dev is definitely on the right track.

A few tips for people that's still crashing...
    1. Totally install the previous version that was crashing including its settings when prompted.
    2. Be sure to check fan curve control checkbox when making fan curve changes. I wish that wasn't necessary smh. Then Apply and Save before moving to the next tab.
The same applies to voltage curves. Be sure to Apply and Save before switching to the next tab or do anything else.

    Hopefully this helps

I think you might find, like I do, and have now for many previous versions, that in 'reality' your settings (Mem and GPU clocks and Power and Temp targets) are in effect but they're just not being 'shown' as they are in effect, they are 'shown' as back to default.

If you switch screens in PX1 from VGA to HWM and back again, for example, the effective settings will then be shown correctly..To verify, you can also open MSI Afterburner or GPU-Z or GPU Shark to see if your applied settings are shown correctly in those programs even before doing that in PX1.

PX1 has a bug to where the actual/effective settings are just not 'shown' correctly after restart, or after a cold start when Windows Fast Startup is off..I mentioned this a couple times before, but...

after I update to 1.1.1.4, precision keep crashing.
so, I downgraded from recent version to old version.
Oddly, 1.1.1.2 is also crashing, which I used before w/o any problem.
Now, every newer version than 1.1.1.1 is not working.
    I am using 1.1.1.1.

With v1.1.4, my LED and target power settings are not retained on reboot.  After changing/applying my LED and target power settings, I check to make sure "Apply previous settings on load" is checked under Setup.  I've been having both problems with all versions of Precision X1 since installing my EVGA 3090 FTW3 Ultra.

When installing a new version of Precision X1, I have uninstalled the previous version and made sure to remove previous settings.  I even look in the App data folder to make sure the EVGA folder is completely removed.

Well now, that is the first time I have had this particular issue. Seems that bug is spreading!

Thanks though. Easier to click a couple of times than typing it all back in.

Still issues with Max FPS resetting in NVCP.  Does not happen when you set it in PX1 though, as it forces it to the correct value in the control panel.  Would rather see it done in the control panel, if the PX1 program tends not to be very stable and crash.

    Re: EVGA Precision X1 1.1.4 - BUGS/FEEDBACK 2020/12/18 01:31:24 (permalink)
Bug present since at least 1.1.2.0 (unsure about 1.1.1.0 or 1.1.0.11) -- a gradual memory leak.  It takes several days (4-5) before you really start to notice it, but it does happen.  It requires you keep Precision X1 in the systray/resident at all times (which I do, to keep my fans at a specific speed).  It's visible in Task Manager and Resource Manager.

I analysed the situation as best I could with VMMap.  Private WS (working set) memory -- specifically, managed heap portion of the process (i.e. purely local to the program, not shared with others) -- grows over time.  I've seen it reach a total of nearly 800MBytes, where after a restart it it goes back down to ~90MBytes or so (i.e. normal size).

If one uses VMMap's Empty Working Set feature, the memory is usually released and the usage is at a reasonable size again.  But I have also seen cases where this has only helped "in part" (such as ~800MBytes dropping down to maybe ~300MBytes).

I can share screenshots of this, but there isn't much there that would help software engineers.  Visual Studio's debugger + profiler, along with use of debug symbols, should be able to help find the leak with ease.

    This issue is 100% reproducible.

Relevant system info: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64, NVIDIA drivers 457.09, RTX 2060 SUPER (model 08G-P4-3065-KR).  When I install Precision X1, I always make sure "LEDSync Setup" is unchecked.  Also, in Precision X1, I have OSD, HWM, and Boost Lock all disabled/turned off.

I'm still unable to use any version of PX1 beyond 1.1.0.11.  Any version after that crashes on startup.  I've removed every registry entry, every folder, every hidden user / roaming folder.  Any thoughts on what I can do to stop it from crashing on load?

In Reliability History, it's crashing on CLR20r3.  I'm on Windows 10, latest bits.  Kingp!n 2080ti.

Lol I posted this bug weeks ago but seems like they still haven't fixed it...

Basically if you have the KP 2080ti installed and try to open newer versions of PX1 then the program will crash after the splash screen.

EVGA need to open up a public e-mail address where users can send in bug reports for their Precision X1 program since the dev / devs barely pay attention to the threads on this forum.

    Hi,

I have AMD R9 3900X + 3080 Ultra FTW3 and the Precision X1 VF Curve Tuner hasn't been working.  It's either crashing by restarting the PC or delivered fail test results.

Uninstalled the older Precision, reinstalled the new for my 3080 FTW.

Every time I reboot I have to reset the LED colors to "Temperature" as well as the curve to "Aggressive".  Every single time.  So annoying.

    Re: EVGA Precision X1 1.1.4 - BUGS/FEEDBACK 2020/12/20 06:49:45 (permalink)
I tried something a little different this morning and it resolved all but one issue, but that one issue may actually be working now. I'll have to test again later.

The issues my PX1 had were.
Not showing correct values on restart.
Fan Curve not reloading on start-up.
Target Power/GPU temp chain resetting to default after restart.

This is the easiest fix to date. When turning computer off first close out PX1 using the upper right "X." Then shut computer down, restart, and it all works as advertised. The only issue I have to recheck is the Target chain power and GPU temp are also behaving.

    Edit:

When you shut down the computer completely and restart all values are loaded properly except for the Target values. The broken chain is not saved but instead returns to a linked chain with the Power Value adjusting to match the inputted GPU Temp.

If you simply restart the computer then all the issue return.

Maybe this helps in fixing it down the road?

    Re: EVGA Precision X1 1.1.4 - BUGS/FEEDBACK 2020/12/20 14:55:03 (permalink)
Since installing X1 1.1.4 I've been encountering system crashes in Windows 10. Whole system will freeze and hang, and then reboot.
Upon reboot X1 will not open as expected, and looking at the most recent errors in the Windows Event Viewer (those time-stamped just prior to the hang) point to X1 as the culprit.

Separate issue (not 1.1.4-specific, but still happening as of 1.1.4): for months now I've been trying to figure out the cause of very quick/brief "stalls" in audio/visual output during gameplay, both of windowed games as well as . These interruptions would be classified as "microstutters".  I finally managed to correlate the problem with use of Precision X1; when the program is actively running (systray, etc.), the issue happens. Upon exiting the program, the problem completely disappears.

What I suspect is happening is that the underlying PX1 code is turning off interrupts, or doing something extremely unfriendly relating to clock timers (I don't mean "GPU clocks", I'm talking about things like ACPI timers, HPET, TSC, etc.).  It may be that whatever its polling GPU-wise sometimes takes so much time that an interrupt or two is missed/lost.  I would have to really dig into it with Performance Monitor on W7 to figure out what's going on. But at least I've traced it to PX1.

I suppose I should explain my use case for PX1: the only reason I use it is to keep my GPU fans at a locked speed (in my case, 44% -- anything higher than 45% and I can hear them).  I would much rather have a program that sets the GPU fan speed to what I want then immediately exits.  I know running PX1 once after a system boot achieves this, but having to remember to do that every time I reboot is obnoxious (I forget most of the time).  A lot of programs offer this kind of functionality through a command-line flag of some sort, ex. `--runonce` or the like.  I wish PX1 had something like this.  If any users know of something KISS-compliant that can do this for EVGA cards, let me know.

    You said,

I've noticed that if you have set all your values and saved them they will show up as installed on any reboot if you first close out PX1 using the upper right hand "X" to close PX1 before rebooting the computer.

Why does this still use so much cpu?
3% on a 8700kwith everything that monitors the system, OSD, fan control, etc. off

Also power setttings still not saving, normally it resets back to 100%, but sometimes I've seen it at 40 for some reason.

    Re: EVGA Precision X1 1.1.4 - BUGS/FEEDBACK 2020/12/23 06:54:09 (permalink)
    Hello,

Here's the bug list I have for 1.1.4.
    X1 app issues:
    - When set to start with Windows and apply previous settings, X1 does not apply anything. I have to manually load a profile.
    - When adjusting anything in my fan curve, the Voltage Curve gets reset.
    - The "link fans" buttons does not remain checked after restarting the app.
    - Even if the Voltage Curve gets saved now, it does not save properly. Instead of keeping a constant line at 0.850Mv - 1860Mhz for example, the little dots fluctuate, one moving to 1875Mhz, another to 1845Mhz, etc. This is bad because any frequency over 1860Mhz will crash my games at my saved voltage.

    - [No clear repro] Occasionally profiles don't save. I click Load and it does not restore any previous setting.
    Game issues:
    - 3D mark crashes when started with X1 active and I press the button I have set to display the Overlay. After this initial crash, no test test will load until I restart both X1 and 3Dmark; I just receive an "error" message.
    - Some games don't work with the X1 overlay. Examples of games I currently have installed where it doesn't work: Watchdogs Legion, Quake 2 RTX (I am aware why it doesn't work here)
    Feature requests:
    - ability to see CPU / Memory usage, temps and load
    - ability to move Voltage Curve dots in bulk, like in MSI Afterburner.
    - Ability to save screenshots as PNG, not just BMP or JPG

Overall, I am very disappointed with this program, it just doesn't work properly. It is unreliable, Evga Precision Server crashes constantly, a lot of bugs, and worst of all I am forced to use it because of the fan issue MSI afterburner has with it.

    edit.
This happens on an EVGA RTX 3080 XC3 Gaming Ultra.

    Hello,

i have 3090 XC3 ULTRA GAMING ( 24G-P5-3975-KR ), and with the firmware that my card got updated with in 1.1.4 made my card go from high 52°c ( 2010Mhz 368w custom loop ) to ~62°c with the same clocks, but now it downclocks often.
Had zero issues before 1.1.4, no crashes but worse performance with this firmware..

I had whatever firmware came in 1.1.0.9 i think, i want to downgrade to an older firmware.
Is this possible? and if so, how?
