Re: EVGA Precision X1 1.1.0.11 for 30/20 Series ONLY 2020/10/26 10:54:25 (permalink)
So I've got a question about the new version with my 3080, I'm seeing really weird behavior while rendering.
In GPU-Z I'm seeing that my perf limit is due to VRel and VOP, but I'm at 66.9% TDP at 254.2W.
I've got the voltage slider all the way up, and Power target at 105%, but I'm still being limited by voltage.

Im guessing this is because of the differing power demands of the various parts of the GPU Core at work during the rendering workload... hence why I can hit these kind of clocks during rendering.  I havent done any gameplay testing becuase the newest game I have is Fallout4, and even at 4k i'm guessing that wont max the card out.
Is there anyway that I can give the voltage a little higher of a bump?
Ideas?

Is there a way to have the program minimise to tray when hitting x instead of fully closing? Some programs allow that as a toggleable option. I keep closing precision x..

Is anyone able to load a profile after running the auto OC? As far as I can tell, the curve doesn't save after I reboot PC or the app.

Seems when i do the oc scan on my 3080 it just crashes the system and reboots. Anyone else have that as well?

I fixed this problem on my 3090 by doing a full uninstall of drivers (DDU). The new scan OC saves them to the driver settings, so I think that was cause of issue.

Will PX1 allow you to change power limits as well?

Hi,
The nvidia driver 457.09 has broken the fan control in EVGA Precision X1 (1.1.0.11) for my EVGA 3080 FTW3 ULTRA.
At default, they all run at the same speed of 33%, no problem here.  But if I set a manual fan speed of for example 60% (linked or not linked doesn't matter), FAN1 and 2 will run at 43% whereas FAN3 runs at 60% like it's supposed to. When manually set to 80%, FAN1 and 2 run at 71% and the 3rd one at 80%.
The fan curve control also doesn't work properly.
I've tried reinstalling EVGA Precision X1, it didn't work, the only thing that fixed this issue was to revert back to the nvidia driver 456.98.
The firmware version is 2.1.1.4, the BIOS version is 94.02.26.80.9C (400W BIOS) and the switch is set to OC if that matters.

Delwyn69
I have notice a prossible problem, which consists of rather high cpu usage of 0.5-2%. Is this normal? I kinda feel this is a lot, since it doesn't go down even when minimized. Is it supposed to be like this?

I noticed the same thing (1-2% cpu usage) with the OSD, HWM, LED Sync and Boost Clock set to OFF.

Same, newest drivers from nvidia break my fan control in PX1 1.1.0.11. My fan 3 works fine, but fans 1 & 2 spin about 10% slower even when are all manually set to same speed. Fan 1 & 2 will just go to about 10% less than whatever I set in PX1. Rolling back driver to hotfix driver 456.98 fixes the issue. Also attempted to install PX1 again, also tried DDU and clean install multiple times. Only fix was using older driver.

3080 FTW3 Ultra.

There is a glitch in the software, noticed it after the new driver install.

When you set a fan profile fan 1 and 2 drop down to 14% even on the aggressive setting that should be 40%.

Default with the OC Bios is 33% so that's close enough until it's fixed.

Experiencing the same fan issue with 3080 XC3 Ultra with the latest 457.09 driver and PX1 1.1.0.11.  Fans 1 and 2 are reporting 50% slower speed than fan 3 with the aggressive fan curve.

For example if fan 3 is at 46%, fan 1 and 2 are reporting 23%.

Glad to see it's not just me.  I'm having the same fan issue as the others above as of updating driver to 457.09.

currently idleing, watching a youtube vod.  Fan 1 29%; Fan 2 29%; Fan 3 49%
Also, I do not have GeForce experience currently installed.  Nor do I have any other software (Afterburner for example) installed.

Anyone else having this issue with precision? It always sets PL to max with the XOC bios. Or is that more of the BIOs at fault?

It's being looked into.  For now you can roll back to the 456.98 driver if it causes an issue.

Can anybody run the OC scanner successfully? I'm scared to use it now because it completely crashed the pc the very first time I used it with the older version...

As I stated earlier, my first oc scan attempt caused a reboot. Since then every scan attempt has been completed successfully. I had this same behavior with 1.1.0.9, not sure why the first attempt is bugged.

I seem to be having reboot issues every time I try to run OC Tool. Right at about 30% my computer just shuts down and reboots. I have an 850w GA and EVGA thinks it may be something to do with the power supply. Waiting on a replacement to confirm if this is the fix. I wouldn’t care about the OC Scan, however I’m also experiencing crashing in games and think it’s either a driver issue or an issue with my PSU due to the random reboots when it is boosting/full load

750 and 850 GAs are known problem PSUs for the 3080/3090. EVGA did say that they were testing it, but several users have swapped from GAs and that fixed their crashing/reboots.

I’m 100% positive it is a PSU issue for me at least. After crashing over and over i just tried lowering the power limit to 90% and the OC scanner finished successfully for the first time.

Luckily EVGA did approve an RMA for a replacement it just hasn’t shown up yet. It’s a bummer because I bought my 850w GA about 45 days ago in anticipation of 3080. Guess I bought the wrong one lol. But EVGA has been fantastic.
Now just waiting for them to ship it so I can game again without fear of crashing before reaching a save point.

For some reason my fan 3 is running at the proper speed for the temperature I set in my fan curve, but fans 1 and 2 are not?

Scroll up, multiple reports of the same with EVGA acknowledging it.

Install 456.71 or 456.98 to fix it for now.

Yep, same exact thing here with my 3080 FTW3 Ultra. My fan 3 will always run at whatever speed I tell it, but fans 1 and 2 won't even turn on until I slide it past 30%, and even then the speeds are much slower than the speeds I set them to.

But apparently it's a driver issue and EVGA are aware, as are Nvidia.

I wonder if the fix will be a new driver update or an update to PX1. I have refrained from updating my driver for now.

How do you guys get the voltage curve in PX1 to save? I cannot for the life of me do it. I’m able to run 1mv at 2085mhz and 500 on the ram with Afterburner, but I can’t replicate this in PX1.

Hi,
The nvidia driver 457.09 has broken the fan control in EVGA Precision X1 (1.1.0.11) for my EVGA 3080 FTW3 ULTRA.

I tried to set the fans to 100% to see how much noise it makes but the settings I'm saving don't actually make the fans go 100%.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong but this software is really confusing.
I like afterburner for that reason. I wish I could use evga software. Software updates and led control.

Thank you to those that reported this as the issue. I was freaking out that my card was somehow defective.

While we wait for X1 or Nvidea to fix the issue, I've had some success using Afterburner's fan control to get all 3 fans to spin at the same RPM using a custom curve.

Hello,
I really want to like this software and be able to ditch Afterburner completely, but there are two issues that are keeping me from doing so, both in the HWM.

1) No ability to monitor CPU temp or core clock that I'm able to find.  I recall this being in previous versions, so maybe this is an oversight?
2) No ability to change the colors of the temp readouts in the system tray.  For example, with Afterburner, my GPU temp is red and my CPU temp is light green in my system tray.  I've never seen this in any version, or maybe it's somewhere and I'm not seeing it?

If these two items are fixed, I will gladly say goodbye to Afterburner, as I like the layout of this software otherwise.  Thanks!
