So, how will this be better than the (also) upcoming MSI board?

Something tells me that MSI is going to be cheaper and it seems to have full height mpcie (LOL at the battery, of course)

Well, to start the color scheme will be much better and more useful the EVGA board will be able to be full WC'd becuase the CPU socket will be far enough away to cool the CPU and GPU

So heres the deal:  Im right in the middle of a mini-itx Bitfenix Prodigy build and my ASUS P8Z77-I motherboard had a bit of an accident.  Should I really wait for this motherboard and be disappointed if it doesnt meet expectations(ie: crappy BIOS wouldnt be surprising from EVGA) or should I buy another ASUS board?  What do you guys think?

I'm still going to wait.  Besides, I have 110 EVGA bucks to put towards it.

I hope that evga-itx come for $ 120-130, if it comes at $ 150 is foolish .... asrock already has that price, but with more features, msi must come to fight in the house of $ 150 also. If the evga come with $ 120 - $ 130 will sell like water in the desert.

But if they come to $ 150, I will go to side of asrock or msi. Because "msata / mPcie" of 50mm is a must have for me, Evga comes with 30mm  it is already a negative point (for me)

your cpu block is too big? since I've seen many people with asrock Z77 itx in the water and smoothly.

No, I'm thinking EVGA will charge in the range of $200, and yes that is resonable.  No EVGA rep even considered mentioning the idea of making an mini-ITX if it weren't for the Asus P8Z77-iDeluxe, as if it goes into EVGA's territory of moderately overclockable enthusiast boards.  So they will charge whatever the market will bear, around the same price.  Don't kid yourselves with < $130 just because you prefer it, this isn't about us at all; this is about what EVGA thinks and what their market research has shown folks that really demand it from EVGA are willing to spend.
 
They aren't making it for us, they are making it for them; the only reason any company makes anything is because they did the homework: Existing demand will pay for the development plus profit.  In the end, that's all it is about.

We don't have any performance data on the EVGA board to compare.  While the P8Z77-iDeluxe has the VRM module which may imply an improvement in cleaner voltage, the otherside is what JacobF said in an earlier post regarding their mini-ITX VRM status.  So on one hand, Asus could have thought of this and justified it whereas EVGA didn't.  On the other hand, Asus' board was the first of its kind and only competition provokes optimization, so the advantage is for anyone that competes with the Asus board.  This is common for any first in any industry, the first isn't the best in hindsight, but it keeps its place in the books and minds of those that keep up with tech news.
 
We'll soon see, either way I think overclockability is more about the FPO batch number the CPU falls in, cleaner power is nice but I think there are diminishing returns with having too many phases, and a nice board won't help a so-so batch.

Yeah I have to say the CPU/PCIe slot spacing is a real killer on those Asrock boards.  Most aftermarket heat sinks worth a darn won't accomidate a gpu at all.

I have once again discovered a very important lesson, Intel's stock heatsinks SUCK!!!    And here I was thinking with a lower TDP processor that it would get by, nope!  Ran LinX on all 4 cores and watched the temps raise to near water boiling.  Topped off at 91*C.  Even with all fans max speed, best I can get is in the low 80's.  Also doesn't help that the motherboard fan controler is extremely slow to react.  Guess I'm back in the market for an aftermarket heatsink, but this time with even tighter physical space tolerances.  Already got my eye on a Dynatron K666 or a Zalman CNPS7000c-cu.  Till I get this heat issue under control, no folding for the Mercury rig.

Dunno **** you all are talking about with socket placement on the asrock. Mine fits an axp-140 (the standard bearer) just fine. Evga needs to price this appropriately if they want to sell, they were beaten to the market by good overclockers and by more feature rich boards. $130-$140 is what I think they could get away with.

So much flak towards EVGA.  There is a trade-off limit with such small boards.  EVGA did their best to get it all on there.  Heck, the mPCIe was a surprize to me, wasn't expecting that.

Hopefully they will have better build quality and BIOs compared to the other boards too.  I am pretty sure I am going to get at least one of these boards and possibly up to two of them.  mPCIe is nice but was not in my plans either so I guess it will be a bonus for me.  Just knowing I can finally get another EVGA board that will fit my plans would be nice since I had to skip over EVGA with my main rig due to them not having a mATX X79.

Good find.    Massive low-profile heatsink.  Its under 50mm in height so I know it will clear the drive bracket.  And the CPU center is offset so I might be able to use the PCIe later on.  If the Dynatron K666 fails on what I expect for it to do, I will most likely try the Samuel 17 next.

I failed.  On to Plan B.
 


 
As you can see, it was a close fit.  The only way I could get the heatsink on is to remove the fan shroud.  I might try the PRO-SAM17 heatsink next.  Choosing a heatsink to fit in the Antec ISK-300 is a challenge.

Haha, yea its hard to get air cooling on those things.  I managed to fit a big swiftech waterblock on my CPU and a XSPC Waterblock on my 690 and get it all to fit inside the case and be able to close it up haha. Took a bunch of different fittings to make it happen though.
 
Works nice though.  I get a max of 70C at 4.8Ghz on my 2600K and 690 with an overclock is hitting about 35C. I tried alot of air cooler combinations and they are all just too big, or i worry that a cable will slip out of my cable management and fly in to a fan or something.

my wifes computer is in that same style case so I know about the severe space limitations of its design ... but she is currently using the stock heatsink that came with the 2700K and it is doing just fine for her ... no OC (yet) ...

I failed.  On to Plan B. 

As you can see, it was a close fit.  The only way I could get the heatsink on is to remove the fan shroud.  I might try the PRO-SAM17 heatsink next.  Choosing a heatsink to fit in the Antec ISK-300 is a challenge.

I had a thought last night before I went to bed.  Maybe instead of trying to get a heatsink to fit inside the case, choose a different case to fit everything.  This way I'm not going to waste more of my money trying another heatsink.  Thinking on another SilverStone SUGO case since it fits perfectly on my shelf and has exellcent air flow.

If you notice in the new photos, I have removed the rear portion of the top support bracket.  This has allowed enough space for the K666 to fit.  Worth it for the results.  The CPU temps are now in check.  It no longer soars to the 90's*C before the fans take over, topped out at 81*C.  When the fans do kick in, temps stay below 65*C at 3.6GHz.  The mobo has a weird fan control, you can set the idle speed and target temp.  When it hits the target temp, all fans start to ramp up to full speed till temps drop 5*C below the set tartget temp.
 
One thing I do notice, the K666 fan has an annoying noise to it.  Not wind blade noise, probably PWM switch noise.  May change the fan soon if it doesn't break-in and stop it.  But at least I got a good heatsink to work with.

The motherboard wasn't really my top choice.  At the time, it was either Asrock or Zotac for a Z-series mITX board (back in Fed 2012).  The Silverstone SG05 case will be getting the EVGA Z77 mITX when it comes out.  All in all, at least I'm getting Mercury to where I want it.

Edit:
I've been messing with the 3570k turbos.  Found out it couldn't do 4.4GHz, but would do 4.2GHz.  So I set my turbos by per as the following, 1x 4.2GHz, 2x 4.2GHz, 3x 4.0GHz, 4x 3.6GHz.  Seems to be folding unipro WU quite well with this arrangement.  Can't wait to see what the hidden potienal the 2600k holds with a Z77 mITX supporting it. 
 
Also, after folding with the 3570k for a while, it is not double the speed verus a i7 930.  The 3570k at 3.6GHz on best average is 10k PPD.  The i7 930 at 2.8GHz on best average was 13k PPD; OC'd to 3.6GHz, its average becomes 16k PPD.  I believe the HT, more L3 cache, & 3x memory channel can explain the higher PPD value.  Thou the 3570k is faster at LinX than the i7 930.  As a reference, the i7 2600k at 3.4GHz was doing on average 18-20k PPD.

So I'm planning to finally buy the parts for my upcoming small form factor PC and I'm hoping that EVGA will have this board released by this Friday. If not released by then or sold out, then I may get the Asus board instead (I might wait an extra week if I need to wait on one of the other parts).
