I have a question about the Z77 Stinger. If I wanted to put a Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD PCIe sound card into the PCIe 3.0 slot. Would it work and/or would there be any problems?

I don't really wanna use the onboard sound and I paid a lot of money for this sound card and I really wanna get this Stinger motherboard. Could someone please advise.

yes you should be able to install that sound card onto that PCI-E x16 slot and it should work fine.

I'm with you on that.  I love my Creative Labs X-Fi PCI card.  Really brings music and sounds to life.  The X-Fi card is so good, it is the oldest piece of hardware that is still being used with newer hardware around it.  24-bit Crystalizer, makes it more live sounding.  CMSS-3D Surround, now you got a concerte in your house.

As for your question, you should be able to.  I use the X-Fi PCI sound card on the X58 board.  I just disable the onboard sound to make sure there is no conflict issues.  So having a seperate sound card shouldn't be a issue, even on the Stinger board.

Holy Cow!!!   You got the same exact sound system setup as me.  I've had the Z-5500 since March 2006 and it still works great.  I find it on par with a Bose sound system.  Thou the prices for the Z-5500 have sky rocketed, I paid $259 for it back in the day.

Great minds think alike!!!
I bought my Z-5500 system in May 2009. I paid $302.99 on NewEgg. At the time, that was the best deal I could find. So I figured I got a good deal. But at $259, that was an insanely awesome price! I really do agree that these speakers are very, very top notch quality for the price. Sound is very important to me. (Hence, my initial question. LOL! My sound card is much more imporatant to me than a video card. I would rather use the onboard HDMI port with the GPU in the 3770K CPU I will be getting, than give up my beautiful sound). I love listening to my music!

@ Anybody at EVGA who may be reading this discussion - I am not knocking your very fine line of video cards. I currently rock an EVGA GTS 450 FTW and love it very much!!! ROFLMAO!!!

Nothing beats the HT Omega series cards! With a high end home theater system (screw computer speakers!)

Pure audio bliss!

I have an HT Omega Claro Halo XT which I used in my EVGA X58 SLI, but as far as I know, it doesn't come in a PCIe version. For my Z77-based motherboard, I got an ASUS Xonar Essence STX which uses the same CMI8788 sound processor, and it sounds just as good, if not better.

Highly recommend.

I read somewhere that it was going to be a September launch right?
Can't remember where. I think it was earlier in this thread.
I hope it's this month

Yep, late September at the earliest.  Early-Mid October at the latest.  I just keep looking for the "Buy Now" button on the Stinger's web page.

Well, I wish this wasn't the case but I want to make sure everyone is up to date on the latest happenings on this so I have some unfortunate news...

The board unfortunately will not be available in October, the PCB needed a change and unfortunately when this is required it can delay the schedule quite a bit.

Right now we are looking at November, but obviously we are doing everything we can to pull it in sooner.

This would be best ITX on market, far best.
Board is cute but nasty and if they decide to make some changes only customers can profit no one else . You build system for 3 years 30 days is nothing. World hysteria dictated from ASUS and GIGABYTE can't push me to buy something because that is first on market. Build PC should be ejoyment no some
I can't wait anymore I would buy first and later maybe regreat.

Can you EVGA dev team PLEASE MAKE THE USB3.0 HEADER BLACK/GREY/RED IN COLOUR INSTEAD OF THE FUGLY BLUE??? The blue colour ruined the aesthetics of several new EVGA motherboards. I mean other companies has done it, why can't EVGA???

Any chance we could get a to scale diagram of the motherboard with the major components like cpu socket, memory slots, pcie slot, sata ports, etc ?

I'd like to plan out my build in detail and try to work things out ahead of time.

Since this ITX Stinger motherboard is back to the drawing board, can I request something?

Can you EVGA dev team PLEASE MAKE THE USB3.0 HEADER BLACK/GREY/RED IN COLOUR INSTEAD OF THE FUGLY BLUE??? The blue colour ruined the aesthetics of several new EVGA motherboards. I mean other companies has done it, why can't EVGA???

I thought Blue was a standard color to indicate that it is USB 3.0? Is there another company that has used another color?

I hope this image should make more sense to everyone on what I'm talking about. EVGA has done a good job, but I felt they could improve the aesthetics a little more by changing the blue headers to some other colours that are relevant to the colour theme of their motherboards. Look, even Zotac made it black, Gigabyte make it black, and Asus ROG lineup had it red. I don't see why EVGA can't do it and ruin the aesthetics with blue?

I gotta say I agree with you on that one.
Didn't pay much attention to the USB 3 header until now and looking at the picture you have posted it does look odd with everything being black and red and then there is a blue USB 3 header. It makes sense to have a blue USB 3 IO at the back because those ports look the same as USB 2 but with the header on the motherboard anyone can tell that's USB 3 header.
