GNielson I've got a 3090 FTW3 Ultra arriving tomorrow. I sure hope it's China, if not I wonder if I should even open the box...
We have 1 guy raiden who says he’s got a launch day Taiwan that rocks 500w consistently..but he is the current outlier
Anyone checked if the Shunts are the same?

Here are some fairly hi-res shots that I took when I tore down my Taiwanese 3090 FTW3 to try and put a Kraken G12 + AiO on it (bracket holes are different than 10 and 20 series so it won't fit): https://forums.evga.com/FindPost/3100736 If the RMA (still awaiting approval) is from China, or is a Taiwanese board that can pull more than 450W consistently, I can do another tear down on it and get some pictures.

willm1224 Which you are still doing with your humblebrag responses
It’s data points. Take it with whatever color makes you feel better. Being an engineer by trade, I am still genuinely interested in why this is occurring and getting to the root cause. I am also following this regarding the customer service (or lack there of) from EVGA, as I do own multiple EVGA products and their response here will dictate whether I ever buy another. Whatever though, just attack others for trying to contribute.

Expect to have your ticket closed after several days with just general troubleshooting steps included. Then reply about the fact you didn't actually get any 'service' in the follow up survey and get a response from some rando tech pissed because you picked his name at random from the list of technicians since NO ONE ACTUALLY REACHED OUT FOR SUPPORT BEYOND A COPY PASTED TEXT RESPONSE. I knew there was a reason I've been buying Asus consistently for twenty years. The three times I've bought their products it's been a nightmare. Every time it's something or another when dealing with an American company.

What was your reason for RMA? If you said “it won’t get 500w” they’ll close it. If you say “it pulls more than 75w from pcie power on stock oc bios w/no overclock” (it does and you can show them) they’ll RMA it.

Furmark windowed at 2560x1440 no MSAA, ran for 5 minutes. For this run I used stock clocks on the XOC BIOS, 119% power limit and 100% fans. Averages of interest: GPU Clock: 1629.2 Memory Clock: 1219 Board Power Draw: 468.4W (NOT 500W. It does spike to 500+ on occasion) Actual power limit %: 111.5% (NOT 119%) Perfcap: Pwr all the way PCIe Slow Power: 77.3W GPU Voltage: 0.835v This doesn't look great. Although I'm pretty sure that nVidia drivers flag apps such as Furmark and might be more aggressive on throttling.

Typical 20141 (Taiwan) results. I get the same scores (20141) Notchy gets 500w consistently on a 20125 (China) from furmark: I saw a video he made of it literally

This kinda blows... And this is after running Time Spy Extreme stress test for about 5 minutes. Spiked to 493.2W. Pwr perfcap all the way and sometimes getting Vrel as well.

Fact is, the same several discussions have gone on in a loop for the last month. Some people claiming that bursting momentarily above 500w means this bios is working. It’s not! As notchy confirmed on his Chinese cards and people who have other AIB cards have confirmed, WORKING means a consistent power draw at or near 500w for a sustained amount of time. What I can confirm is my FTW3 could never do that. I could get random spikes into the 500s when doing some crazy stuff with furmark, but otherwise I was stuck in the 450-470 range. That has not been my experience with either the Strix running the stock 480w bios or the EVGA 500w bios. I can get consistent RATED power limits. Whether your fragile ego can’t see past the fact that other people have moved on. I still have valid feedback to provide given what I do for a living. So here’s a nugget. Stop chasing your tails. Develop a common understanding of the problem. I will repeat it again, random spikes above 500w mean nothing. That does not mean it’s working. If you have clearly identified the Chinese cards can SUSTAIN 500w with this bios than clearly this points to a hardware difference. The ONLY way to confirm that is to compare pcbs. We also need more than a sample size of 2 Chinese cards’ results... Wait, didn’t I already say that?

Part of the reason I bought this card was because of this very topic claiming that I could unlock my bios to 500w. I would have gotten an ASUS card if I had known it wasn't true. It feels like I didn't get what I paid for.

That would be a reasonable assumption. However there might be more Taiwanese cards in the US/EU (purely a guess). the_Scarlet_one General Warning.
At the end of the day your posts have been informative. I was wondering if there was a problem with my setup regarding power i upgraded to a 1200w psu from a 750w which seemed to help with the 500w bios but still only see peaks of 450w when im trying to in Kombustor. I had a Gigabyte 3090 eagle before this card and im wondering now if i made a mistake "upgrading" as that card out of the box with only 380w was performing very well. Fingers crossed they recall these cards or at least give people with the inferior power draw access to purchase the Kingpins. This was my first EVGA card and i would like it not to be my last.

Since I got my card within the last two weeks, I may try to return it for a full refund as "not as described". Jacob pushed the idea that it can hit 500 watts by rewteeting a review that it does on the OC bios and also when he said he hits around 485 watts. I just feel like I was baited into buying the card under the presumption that it can hit 500w with the OC bios and it is simply not true.
