Actually what I wrote was false because i opened Furmark in the Normal Bios switch and the power still reaches 450W even though I only installed the OC Bios. How interesting indeed !

This is the same benchmark did with the OC Bios. Seems that only fan curve changes.

The .88 the the OC and the .87 is the Normal for the XOC Beta Bioses, but I'm not sure if the .70 or .9C is the stock normal BIOS, which is the only one I want to flash back to.

Since I can't find anywhere on this thread a direct download for the stock bioses, this appears to be the only place I can find them

I figured it would be easy to test by seeing if the fans are spinning when I updated.  It's the .70 bios for normal, .9C for  OC if anyone else wants to flash back to stock.

I really hope someone here rom EVGA can tell us what is the original bios is

Normal bios https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/225304/evga-rtx3080-10240-200904

OC Bios https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/224961/evga-rtx3080-10240-200906

Thank you now how do I FLASH IT LOL.. Is in ROM FORMAT??

Follo the instructions page 1 at overclock.net 3080 club.

https://www.overclock.net...0-owners-club.1753932/

Thank you I was able to get back to default for "NORMAL" switch mode 400 WATT, the "OC" switch mode for 450 WATT.

I have questions  :

1) Are both the FTW3 model and the FTW3 ULTRA model are exactly the same ? The only difference is factory overclock out of box ? If you do manual OC, then they are exactly the same cards. Is this statement true ?

2) My EVGA 3080 FTW3 being in a closed case and only air cooling, would it be smarter to not have the 450W power limit so that temps don't go too high ? Is 450W expected only for Water Cooling and massive cases with lots of fans ?

3) I have flashed only the OC BIOS for 3080 FTW3. Does that mean that if I slide the switch from OC to Normal on the card itself, the original Normal bios will kick in with original power limit ?

Thank you for answering my questions.

Yes Jacob has a said they are the same just different factory OC. He tweeted it.

I ran the heaven benchmark doing nothing more than flashing the 450w bios and cranking the power target and it held pegged at 2115 through about 30min of looping (default fan curve which held at 74-75c). Just installed it about half an hour ago but it looks like a promising chip.

I haven't tried the 450w bios yet but I'm already very happy with the scores I'm getting with just the OC bios

You need to restart twice after you’ve switched the bios, or switch the bios, shut down and unplug, plug back in and boot again. I was very confused as to why fan stop wasn’t working again when I changed, and figured out you need to do the above steps for the right bios to be loaded.

Really ? Good lord. Well I'm trying tomorrow for sure.

Also this makes me think that there is no manual for the rtx 3080. No owner'smanual in the box and no pdf manual online. :(

3DMark Timespy score:
17,430 with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080(1x) and Intel Core i7-10700K Processor (5.1ghz on air)
Graphics Score 18,954
CPU Score 11,975

Running the OC bios settings: +130 core (~2.1ghz actual) +498 ram

During the benchmark the whole system never pulled more than 650w out the wall, at least while running sustainable OC's. With wilder 5.2ghz OC on the CPU it did go up to 670w or so.

So it turns out my 3yo Seasonic 750w Prime Platinum is plenty for real world gaming loads using this setup, even while pushing pretty good OC clocks.

I did find it kind of hilarious myself that we paid this much for a GPU & got jack-crap in the box basically besides the GPU itself.

Remember when GPUs used to come with accessories... like, a lot of them?  Adapters, cables, power splitters (I COMPLETELY get why they would NOT include those with 30-series cards, just saying), stickers, installation guides, etc...

Now?  Here's a support bracket, the video card, and a singular adapter.  Good luck & thanks for the money. lol

Glad eVGA at least has support forums with both employees & helpful members that regularly help out on them, or some people might be completely lost getting such a product for the first time with no nothin' in the box.

I would call that a scenario specific support bracket. I was expecting to find a generic RTX support bracket like the one I got with the PNY 3080 but no luck with EVGA just the small metal one that doesn't help me.

For the record though, the PNY 3080 came with JUST the RTX branded support bracket and nothing else hah.

Yeah they actually did used to come with a lot of stuff.

Back with we actually needed some of that stuff.

Like back when GPUs used to be powered by the floppy drive power cable and 4 Pin MOLEX.

Not so much these days however now that things are much more advanced and do take a lot of power to run.

But adding some useful goodies would be a nice touch as a thank you for buying the product.

Yes you have to purchase it. I got it on Steam on a sale for like $5 iirc. You can probably find a decent price by searching internet

Quick question: Yesterday my 3080 FTW Ultra was downclocking when idle/nothing going on or looking at webpages, etc. I then did some benchmarking on timespy and such, during which I used the Boost Lock in X1 Precision. Not sure if I changed another setting somewhere in Nvidia control panel or power settings when messing around, but now it just sits at 1800Mhz at all times regardless of what I'm doing, and then boosts higher when gaming, etc. Even if I revert to default, the setting remains. Anyone else encounter anything like this?

Check if "Prefer Maximum Performance" is selected under power management in NVidia Control Panel, that's usually what causes that behavior.

Yep, that was it. lol Not a big deal, I was just wondering which setting was causing it. I've read that in general you want "Prefer Maximum Performance" on, as it will never throttle anything during gaming and such. Is that a thing? Also that "Texture Filtering-Quality" should be on High Performance, as the difference is minimal. I wasn't sure if that still applied to higher end cards. My source is Jayztwocents, if that factors in either way. lol

Maximum performance setting will never do that - there is a know significant bios/driver issue happing with all 3000 series cards.  The fix is to clean-install the studio versions of the drivers, then reinstall the latest game ready drivers... you MUST switch between game ready and studio clean to fix the bios locking the clocks... then you can go back to your regular game day driver.

The High Performance on Texture Quality thing can help in benchmarks, doesn't really negatively effect games at all, no visual difference as he said in the video.  Prefer Maximum Performance I typically leave off so the GPU can idle low & the fans can turn off.  Saves fan life on the GPU, fans are typically the first thing that go out on a GPU if it's made well enough, I've never had one go out on me & I've had a "0% fan at low temps" setting on my GPUs since I had an R9 280X vaporx setup... unless they were blower-style cards, those you can't really do the 0% thing on. lol
I would say if you're planning on gaming, put Prefer Maximum Performance on, if you're not, leave it off, saves power, saves heat & fan life.

I got call of duty cold war with the card. Much better then adapters and a poster.

This Bios is really weird. Can someone share the original bios?

I got with old bios with the exact same settings in x1 and fans 19250 timespy score.
Now I get only 18.000, sometimes 17600??

Settings are +700mem +140 core +0mv Voltage 105% PT
When I set 118% PT score get much worser.
In all tests I have 50°C avg temp of gpu.

Yea I'm in a similar boat, this bios simply doesn't work with my system. Scores, overclocks and stability are all higher using the original bios.

Please review my post about the voltage slider on the previous page.

Without allowing the card to increase core voltage, you are not likely to be stable at higher clocks.

So the new XOC BIOS doesn't allow you to get higher voltage?
During rendering I think that's what is my limiting factor, because Im well under TDP for the stock BIOS.

I'm at +225 on Core and +1700 on Memory giving me 2235Mhz @ 254.2W
If I go any higher the render will crash. I'm well under total power envelope and temps are golden... but I'm hitting VREL/VOP at that point.

If the XOC wont give me anymore in the voltage area, i don't see any point for me to bother with it.

Interesting.  For a light load high clock situation like this, you should try locking at 1.1v using Afterburner.

I've seen a bunch of people talking about increasing the voltage in x1 to get better overclocks.  I'm tempted to do this myself, but isn't that potentially dangerous?  I've dialed in what's probably a relatively mild overclock (90 gpu, 180 mem) without touching the voltage, but I am curious what I could get if I do increase the voltage as long as it won't hurt my card.

Not anymore. I have asked (to the customer support) a chick in the box question but they turn back to me about 2 weeks later with a dumb answer (you may count it like turn on/off the power). I don’t know there will be a better support more than this forum and its users.

The funny thing is if you check other brands’ web sites, there are drivers, bioses etc. anything you going to need for your GPU. But on Evga’s web site there is only drivers! No bioses if you need to turn def. settings or even X1. You have to make a software search to find this app (of course if you heard that before). Evga was the best, but seems like not anymore.

Yeah, I got Watch Dogs Legion, but a free game of some sort has been pretty standard for newer cards for a while now.  I remember getting Mafia 2 with a card I got back when Mafia 2 was new, that was one of the better/more enjoyable "free games" I've ever gotten with a GPU.

Interestingly, with my current fan arrangment & my ambient being a tiny bit cooler than normal (70F), I just got 11999 at stock GPU with just the PL raised to 118%: https://www.3dmark.com/pr/459598 Pretty spiffy I'm almost hitting 12K with no OCing on the GPU.

Jesus, I must have gotten a dud FTW Ultra. I see all these core ocs of 130+, mine can barely do 100 mhz stable, and that's only on 3dmark. If I play a game I get crashes (even with voltage slider to the max). Apart from 3d mark, are you guys testing with several games other than 3Dmark?

Mine will pass 3Dmark fine with 100mhz oc on core, but games, nah, full on crashes.

My current UV OC will not pass timespy. 2085 on the core at 1mv and 500 on the memory works in MW, WZ, Control, Doom and WDL. 2070 average maxing at 68 degrees on the normal bios with a default fan curve. It’s worth doing a UV OC to get the max efficiency and performance out of these cards.

Timespy will accept 165 core and 900 memory though, but games will not, at least on air.

This is insane! Can you post your timespy or port royal score? Is this under Water?
