UEFI is the new version of the old Bios menu. I have a UEFI board, it makes everything alot easier when overclocking/changing settings/boot priority etc. Most UEFI boards also have the old Bios menu option if you want to use it. Basically its a updated version of system bios.

The UEFI BIOS lets you use Win8 Secure Boot.

Received an email from support with what should be the UEFI version, but sure it's the same as the one I already had.  GPU-z shows vBIOS as 80.04.19.00.F2, is this correct?

Don't think that's right though we do have different cards. Mine is: 80.04.5C.00.F1

I emailed Jacob to see if I had been sent the wrong file.  Jacob was kind enough to explain that the file I had received was the latest for my card.  The BIOS just released was designed for use on boards fitted with Hynix memory which the 670SC 2GB doesn't.

You can use Winmerge to compare the files to see any differences in the data. http://winmerge.org/

I have the Gtx 670 Super Clock 2Gb card which is not listed on the first page of this thread. Does this mean I can't update the firmware?

Just logged to say that I'm finally able to cross de 1202+ MHz line. I couldn't even play 3-4 mins of 1202 Mhz without crashing immediately with a driver not responding, even if temps were staying around 70C and even less.

I'm hoping that it will stay this way!

That's great.  Wish I could say the same.  I have 1 card that will OC to 1280 stable while my 2nd card only to 1189.  As soon as I move up to that 1202 mark, crash...  And I've had at least 3 different bios revisions, maybe 4, I lost count.  All with the same result.

Which firmware update would apply to EVGA GeForce GTX 670 SC 2GB ?
My card is the superclocked version (non FTW). Don't want to brick it using the wrong bios upgrade.

Just wondering why there haven't been any updates for the 680s and so many for the 670s? Are the cards that much different or are the 670s just junk that NVidia keeps trying to fix with bios updates?

Bios change all threw a cards life of production, minor changes on the card memory etc.The initial run (a small amount) had a small issue ,other then that they are fine. The 670 is a whole different beast then a  680 and the issues were never needed to be fixed as they only happened at the launch of the 670's.

Can't find my GTX 670? (EVGA GeForce GTX 670 Firmware Update v80.04.5C - Updated 04/16/13) 2013/04/27 11:10:12 (permalink)
I downloaded the firmware, ran the update.
The update fails because it can't find a compatible card??!!
The nVidia System Info says:
GeForce GTX 670
Device ID 10DE 1189 26753842
Part Number: 2004 0005

GPU-Z sez:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670
GPU GK104, Rev A2
Device 10DE-1189, Subvendor EVGA (3842)

So... why is this card not recognized???

I was getting very weird transient freezes of Windows 8 when GPU folding and since moving to v80.04.5C (and the latest 320.00 beta drivers btw) they seem gone!

A bit puzzled by this discussion. I've never had problems with the EVGA BIOS and UEFI nor secure boot:

That's with 80.04.5C now, but same thing with the previous version. What exactly is the UEFI problem you're having?

no problem, I flashed to the new bios (non-uefi) and wanted to make sure it would not screw up anything.  I have built many pc's, but have never flashed a gpu bios.

Re:EVGA GeForce GTX 670 Firmware Update v80.04.31 2013/04/28 02:18:12 (permalink)
Actually there's a UEFI GOP version of the BIOS which allows to disable the BIOS' compatibility mode (CSM) and operate entirely in UEFI mode. This in turn allows for Windows' fast boot. Windows fast boot enables hybrid sleep so when you shut down your computer Windows hibernates (programs shut down first though). This results in about 2 sec Windows boot times on my SSD. On the other hand shutdown is a tad slower.

Windows 8.1 x64 / i3770k @4.6Ghz / ASUS Sabertooth Z77 2104 BIOS / 8GB DDR3 1600 CL7 / nVidia GTX 670 @1267Mhz Core Driver: 344.11 PSU Corsair AX1200i / OCZ Vertex 3 SSD, HDDs in RAID

I updated both my 670 SC 4GB's to 5C, now I'm getting artifacts occasionally (not colored blocks like I've seen other people have, a weird "grid" over my desktop, hasn't happened since) and my clocks went down from 1137 to 1110. Anyone have any idea what to do? Might go back to 4B.

Two questions...

1) I've used GPUZ to save a copy of the current 4B BIOS. Suppose I wanted to restore that back to the card at some point having after installed a different BIOS. How would I do that?

2) Where can the part number of my card be seen on screen, somewhere in NVP or GPUZ? I have a 670 FTW 2G so it's no mystery to me which .zip to download, but if it was a mystery, where would I look to see 02G-P4-2678-KR?

Thnx

edit: i found nvflash, is that the preferred tool for restoring the backup if needed?

Finally flashed the 5C bios, hoping it resolves an infrequent gpu crash i see when playing fc3. That game has some problems so I can't really tell if its instability in my OC or game bugs (or driver bugs) thats responsible for the crash. I'll change one thing at a time and see if/when it improves. I'll do the new drivers after a watching what happens with the new bios.

I think the new BIOS gave my 670 FTW card a little more mem stability. I can successfully run valley with higher mem clocks than before (not sure how much higher just yet, but def higher). Can't go any higher on core clocks than before. FC3 hasn't yakked since installing it, but not enough time has passed to draw any conclusions on that one. And definitely no ill affects after having flashed it. It's a keeper!

In the example you used, it said bios fw version 80.04.31.00.72. When I updated my 670 and restarted my pc it said the bios fw version listed 80.04.31.00.70. Even though the example ended with "72" and mine ended with "70", does that mean my card still updated??

Same here.
Mine is 80.04.31.00.72.
Should I update my bios or not?

Which firmware update would apply to EVGA GeForce GTX 670 SC 2GB ?
My card is the superclocked version (non FTW). Don't want to brick it using the wrong bios upgrade.

someone has an answer to this question?I'm looking for the same thing!
