Sucks to have an 1080 FTW...released so long ago that any step-up opportunity is lost. Even if you have been suffering from the dreaded FTW black screening. :(

Did everyone forget that last time the FTW was $679 and the FE was $699? Why would the FTW be $800 dollars lol. If they do decide to do some price gouge move like that, I will have to pass on my yearly upgrade cycle. I have 2 main PCs here at home and when 1 gets a upgrade it is a trickle down effect, so for me, upgrading when there is new cards and I can afford it is OK.

You have to realize that Nvidia is basically competing against there own partners with there Nvidia branded FE cards and I think that is why we get a price break on the custom boards, to make up for the market share that Nvidia is taking. Obviously all of my personal beliefs are just conjecture, but they make sense to me lol.

May as well plan on skipping your upgrade then.

This is a time when short term memory loss hurts the thought process. You seem to have forgot that AIB stock price was $599 msrp for the cards, and the FTW was $679.. $80 over stock price. The Founders Cards were $699 msrp. If you remember those three prices and then the key notes in the 1080ti release, you will remember the words "we are cutting the founders edition price premium" so they cut the extra $100 off the founders price. So, msrp for all cards start at $699. NOW add $80 to that price, pluss shipping.. $779 to $799 is a very likely price range. EVGA isnt going to suddenyl start selling cards starting at a price $100 lower than msrp.

Hopefully that jogs the memory and helps understand where the price guess comes from.

I also slightly edited your post and removed one word for terms of service purposes.

First, I apologize for the inappropriate language I did not realize that would be a censored word, guess it is a context issue.

Thanks for chiming in, you clearly spend more time on all this then I do. My memory still serves correct and I never got around to watching the keynote. The Nvidia Founders Edition was $699 and my FTW was $679 and the classified was $729 at release. If the MSRP has changed this time around then you are correct, it will be more, which is very unfortunate. And I may be skipping this release, I mentioned that I think.

IMO this upward trending price is an unfortunate byproduct of having no competition for so long. Lucky for me as a Dev Ops Engineer I make a decent enough salary to be able to afford these upgrades. I really feel for people on a tighter budget that want to be able to really enjoy there gaming experience. I can only hope AMD can step it up, for competition pricing purposes. They are fighting a war on two fronts and I am sure it is a difficult task.

I am currently running a 1080 FTW in my 6700k and a 980 Ti Classified in my 4790k. They are both pretty comparable in speed and performance. Samsung m.2 vs Samung Pro SSD for boot / OS drives and 32GBs of RAM in each. Both running Asus PG279Q primary monitors with G-Sync. I have to say that G-Sync is so worth it, if you can pick that monitor up without any BLB or color temp shift you will not be disappointed. I had to exchange them a couple times to get clean ones, but that is why I basically only shop at Amazon. The 6700k with the 1080 does edge out the other PC a bit depending on the game though.

Appreciate the input! I will let you get back to the usual "Will I be able to step up to a FTW3" Q&A routine you handle so well.

Having no true competition at this time is exactly why they can charge whatever they want. People expected the price to be around $800 to $900. When it was announced at $699, some people posted how cheap it was. That's because of the still ridiculous price on the titan x pascal. I can't believe it's still at $1200. It's going for over $900 used on ebay. It's good to be nvidia right now.

I don't know if i found something or not, but when you go to this URL on evga : http://www.evga.com/articles/01080/ prepare-for-battle/  ( Delete the space between / and p ) It's about the For Honor or Ghost recon Free with the 1070-1080-  a laptop and ... 1080TI

We can see a picture of the SC2 TI i believe with :

Available Part Numbers

  • 11G-P4-6390-KR
  • 11G-P4-6393-KR
  • 11G-P4-6593-KR
  • 11G-P4-6696-KR
The P4-6390 it's the FE
P4-6393 : SC black edition
P4-6593 : SC2
PS4-6696 : FTW3

Maybe the ti will be launch end of this months or Pre order available end of the months ? Since the offer For honor or ghost recon end on the 22 or 28 I'm not sure .
What you guy's think ??
Sorry if my english is not great, I'm French.

What? You had the opportunity to step up to FTW2. And then you could do step up to Ti. Not evga's problem you didn't take advantage.

Just read that. It's looking pretty good. I quite like the two fan connection on the board. Could connect the two side fans to that so they only come on when the GPU needs it.

Was hoping some more information about the MSI Seahawk X 1080ti came out as the Inno3D, Asus and I presume ZOTAC beefy 3 fan cards are looking good.

Havng a AIO on the CPU I'd really like one on the GPU too and only MSI have one showing currently. They do an amazing job. i5 6600k sits at 4500ghz around 45c, I think it was maybe less.

So far I think Asus looks in the lead for me.... FTW3 still a no show!

That article shows the titan xp to have 2560 shader units in the chart, which is incorrect, and it shows the price of the strix at $740, which they admit is a guess as ASUS doesnt have the final price. They should put tbd if they dont have the price, and any review site should know the titan XP had 3584 shader units.

Also, twistedcore, please refrain from posting vulgar acronyms. We have to edot the post tonremove them every time we see them.

Apologies about the acronym. I shall restrain myself from future use of such terms. The lack of information around the EVGA FTW3 is to blame ;) . Been waiting ages to upgrade and now my first choice is holding their cards close to their chest.

ASUS is notorious for letting things slip early. They are a large company that can afford to take minor hits if they get in trouble for letting info slip. EVGA always gollows any guidelines close. Hopefully we will have more info soon. Since it has only been 5 days since the FE cards went up for sale, I could see it being a little bit longer before they give out details.

I understand completely. I have been waiting as well. However, I would rather EVGA  "got it right" rather than get it out fast. I would rather wait another week or so and get an excellent card with no issues. But, like you I want it now, but I also want it right when I do get it. JMO

Look we know whats coming, id just appreciate a Pre-Order opportunity, Getting it right also means avoiding the debacle that crashed this site and peoples orders along with it.
Take my money... please..
Theres no need for a site crashing free for all where people end up not getting their orders thru and then some people end up with 4 cards.

You don't have to go back to asus. MSI aftermarket solutions should be available long before the ftw3 is released.

The ftw3 rgb lights are controllable through precision x. It is extremely unlikely that asus will code their motherboard to work with controlling an EVGA gpu lighting.

It's either this loud 3 fan card or wait for FTW hybrid...

If I can hold out long enough I"m gonna try for the Hybrid.

Same here. What's a week or two in the scheme of things? (well a lot when we are all so eager) but really I don't expect EVGA to rush anything.
One potentially great thing about up coming EVGA 1080ti's is that the quality will be right up with the best. You can be very sure EVGA won't take any chances after the cooling issue with the 1080 a few months ago. (Even though it was blown way out of proportion)
I'll probably buy EVGA even if it's not the fastest out the box. I can trust their cards, and with that ICX tech and about 9 monitoring points, mmm can't wait. But must.

You guys probably already know, but the Asus Stix have officially announced their Strix vs with over 5% performance increase of the founder, and of course a clock boost.

Below is the link to the article, a very quick read and no doubt more in can be obtained from Asus. Personally I will wait for the Evga with new cooling tech. Here:

I think in US you don't pay tax for electronics for some reason...

Don't we wish that were true.  Depends where you live and where you make the purchase from.

AMD Ryzen 9 3900X | Asus ROG Crosshair VII Hero | EVGA SuperNOVA 850 P2 | EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra
G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 3200 | Cooler Master MasterCase H500M
500GB Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe | 2TB ADATA SX8200 Pro NVMe | 1TB WD Blue 3D NAND SSD

Amazon sure does now. Adds 8% for me, on a $700 card, that translates into me purchasing it from somewhere else!

Do we have any pricing info on AIB 1080 Tis? Are they $699 as well or $599 like the 1080 pricing was setup?

$699 is the base price, everything else goes up from there. They stopped the $599 AIB MSRP and $699 Founders cards. $699 is the base msrp now.

Here:
http://www.kitguru.net/co...-and-improved-cooling/

"£800 mark"

That's crazy! $1000+ after tax!

Darn, you are right! Holy cow, I didn't look carefully and just assumed it was in dollars. How silly of me. Thanks for pointing that out, Chap34!

Still, way cheaper than here in Japan. Amazon are usually great, but they are selling the founders edition at - 237,000 yen. At todays exchange rate that's US$ 2,103.00
That's beyond the pale. I wrote to complain, and only one review is up with the lowest one star. It's in Japanese but strongly questions the price.
It beggars believe!! If you don't believe me, well, I understand, I couldn't believe my own eyes. Feel free to check out Amazon Japan, simple Amazon jp then their search box "GTX 1080ti" will lead you to it.
I can read Japanese, but the Japanese site has an English language option hidden away somewhere, and probably picks up non Japanese IPs. (Auto English) Even in Japanese it's easy to understand.

Check it out and weep. Amazon of all companies to try and con - (yeah con - it's beyond scalping) this disgusting  retail action has left me in a state of shock.

The only good thing is that includes tax - which is 8% - satire, sarcasm. I can't use the language I want or I'd be banned by the mods. Can't get over it.

1. Taichi z370. i7 8086k @ 5,2GHz Stable.
16GB G.Skill Trident Z @ 3,000MHz.
EVGA GTX 1080ti  FTW3. Acer XB270HU IPS 1440p 144Hz Refresh with G-Sync. PSU Corsair AX850. Cloud two cans, and Creative T20 stereo. Realtek HD on board sound.
