Are there already some rumours about other Models except SC and FTW3 ?
Don't want to buy a FTW and regret it, as 3 weeks later the classified is launched -.-

Tell me, why are classifieds still a thing? They bring virtually nothing to the table for the average user. The last time classifieds were relevant and worth the premium was during the 700 series.

I agree. They are great for the LN2 user, but other than that, they are nothing more than a sig line bonus point. There are many cases of lesser models out performing them in standard use scenarios. At the end of the day, it's all up to the silicon lottery if you are on air/water and under Nvidias limitations. Pick the cooler than works best in your case/config and rock and roll.

If someone asks in forums if he should buy the classified or lower tier edition then he definately doesn't need classified card.

Quite true. As the owner of several generations of Classified cards, I can say there is a difference. A significant number of people think so as well or they wouldn't pay a premium for them. EVGA wouldn't produce them if there was not a market for them.

Are you attempting to break records using sub-zero cooling? No? You're average then. Save yourself money and enjoy the product sooner. Forget the Classified ever existed.

As the owner of at least 6 Classified cards since the 700 series, I can say they've done nothing for me. But I'm not using them as intended, sub-zero. The fact that a significant number of people think they need them is really only evidence that you could sell sand at a beach to the majority of people as long as you could fit enough buzzwords on the jar.

A lot of other people obviously have a different opinion of the Classified's than you do. That does not make their opinion any less valid than yours. If they 'do nothing' for you why not quit buying them. It's not really that big of a deal. We can all buy whichever version we want. At least we can whenever they are released, which I hope will be soon.

If performance for you as a consumer is your priority then the best solution is to buy two GTX 1080ti video cards and SLI them. Keep in mind that only games optimized for SLI will benefit.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

I have quit buying them. And I really don't care what people do with their money, other than it is sad to see people be mislead only to be disappointed later.

It's just senseless to clutter the forums with the same nonsense every time a new GPU is released. And so many people actually think they are getting something for their money, only to be disappointed when the card arrives. It isn't making people happy, so I'm not sure why people continue to be told misconceptions. I certainly wouldn't want someone convincing me to wait for some more expensive card that isn't going to benefit me in any way.

-ZOMG when is Classifieds coming?! **Waits an unnecessary two months
-Just got my Uber Classified Black Edition! **Donates extra $150 for fancy box
-I can only OC +50 before Classified crashes :( :( :(. I thought it was for overclockerz! **Disappointment sets in

Rinse and repeat. I've seen it a thousand times on these very forums. The silicon lottery is what matters. The name they print on the box is useless.

Again, this is only applicable to someone who isn't attempting to break records by going sub-zero, which is 99.9% of us on these forums, a forum already made up of the 1% enthusiast bracket.

I would have to assume that performance is a priority for anyone considering which $700 GPU to buy. However, you are correct. If a GTX 1080 Ti performs below satisfaction, the only option to improve performance is SLI. But that's true with any flagship GPU, ever. In no gaming situation will a custom PCB GTX 1080 Ti perform satisfactorily while another, "lesser" GTX 1080 Ti model isn't up to par.

The FTW3 will almost certainly not follow any previous Nvidia reference PCB.

That's not to say something couldn't be done to make mounting a Titan water block possible or something. But the FTW has a taller PCB, different power delivery, and different memory config. As a general rule of thumb, custom PCB water blocks and reference PCB water blocks are not interchangeable. This is true within a particular GPU model, and even more so across models or especially generations.

yea i remember back when i wanted the 680 ftw and had to go with the 680+ which was almost the same, (the only 2 680's with 4GB as i recall), just to be able to fit those xspc blocks...

I would say for most users, no. If you are interested in running a modified bios or something, it may be advantageous to go for the card with two bios' to retain warranty. We also don't really know how the cooler is going to perform in comparison to the twin fan versions. If it cools much better, some may want to upgrade. I would be surprised if it were vastly different, though.

It's hard to say without seeing the card, but generally there isn't a huge real world difference between the various models.

Did everyone forget that last time the FTW was $679 and the FE was $699? Why would the FTW be $800 dollars lol. If they do decide to do some price gouge move like that, I will have to pass on my yearly upgrade cycle. I have 2 main PCs here at home and when 1 gets a upgrade it is a trickle down effect, so for me, upgrading when there is new cards and I can afford it is OK.

You have to realize that Nvidia is basically competing against there own partners with there Nvidia branded FE cards and I think that is why we get a price break on the custom boards, to make up for the market share that Nvidia is taking. Obviously all of my personal beliefs are just conjecture, but they make sense to me lol.

Man I hope you're right. If the FTW3 is something like $800, I'll probably have to skip it for a different more affordable card. <$700 instant purchase.

My 2 pennies. 1080 Ti FTW3 is going to be at least $779.99. Consider that 1080 MSRP was only $599 instead of $699 like 1080 Ti, and 1080 FTW launched at $670. The only thing that will drive the price on the FTW3 down is if another company comes out with a similar clocked card that runs cooler and quieter than FTW3. They'd have to cut back the price to maybe $749 or so to stay competitive. But $800 is very real possibility if these vendors decide to get crazy greedy with their launch prices before market has time to figure out what's better than what.

May as well plan on skipping your upgrade then.

This is a time when short term memory loss hurts the thought process. You seem to have forgot that AIB stock price was $599 msrp for the cards, and the FTW was $679.. $80 over stock price. The Founders Cards were $699 msrp. If you remember those three prices and then the key notes in the 1080ti release, you will remember the words "we are cutting the founders edition price premium" so they cut the extra $100 off the founders price. So, msrp for all cards start at $699. NOW add $80 to that price, pluss shipping.. $779 to $799 is a very likely price range. EVGA isnt going to suddenyl start selling cards starting at a price $100 lower than msrp.

Hopefully that jogs the memory and helps understand where the price guess comes from.

I also slightly edited your post and removed one word for terms of service purposes.

First, I apologize for the inappropriate language I did not realize that would be a censored word, guess it is a context issue.

Thanks for chiming in, you clearly spend more time on all this then I do. My memory still serves correct and I never got around to watching the keynote. The Nvidia Founders Edition was $699 and my FTW was $679 and the classified was $729 at release. If the MSRP has changed this time around then you are correct, it will be more, which is very unfortunate. And I may be skipping this release, I mentioned that I think.

IMO this upward trending price is an unfortunate byproduct of having no competition for so long. Lucky for me as a Dev Ops Engineer I make a decent enough salary to be able to afford these upgrades. I really feel for people on a tighter budget that want to be able to really enjoy there gaming experience. I can only hope AMD can step it up, for competition pricing purposes. They are fighting a war on two fronts and I am sure it is a difficult task.

I am currently running a 1080 FTW in my 6700k and a 980 Ti Classified in my 4790k. They are both pretty comparable in speed and performance. Samsung m.2 vs Samung Pro SSD for boot / OS drives and 32GBs of RAM in each. Both running Asus PG279Q primary monitors with G-Sync. I have to say that G-Sync is so worth it, if you can pick that monitor up without any BLB or color temp shift you will not be disappointed. I had to exchange them a couple times to get clean ones, but that is why I basically only shop at Amazon. The 6700k with the 1080 does edge out the other PC a bit depending on the game though.

Appreciate the input! I will let you get back to the usual "Will I be able to step up to a FTW3" Q&A routine you handle so well.

Interesting...most people seem to think the Ti series is LOWER priced than it would be BECAUSE of the AMD cards that are coming out.

So AMD already did bring competitive pricing back.  That competitive price is $699

I hope that is true and I hope AMD can keep it up. I know zilch about AMD after the 7970, that was my last AMD card and about where I stopped keeping up with them.

Maybe it is priced lower then it would be, maybe it is more competitive. IMO that price is high, I am not saying it is not amazing performance. I am not saying you aren't getting a fantastic product. And you can go look at my registered products on my Evga account and see I am not cheap either. But I personally feel the price just keeps creeping up there a lot quicker then necessary.

It is the same thing with cell phones. I am an android guy and I love pure android OS, so I have rocked Nexus phones for a while now. I still run my Nexus 6 daily and I absolutely love it, running Pure Nexus ROM. I was 2 product releases behind when the Pixel phones came out and I was really interested in them, but For a full 128GB Pixel XL it is close to or over a grand now. Apple has been pulling this for years and everybody buys it, so it makes sense Google would do it too.

If we all keep paying for it, then the companies will keep cranking the prices up and I am just as guilty as everybody else in supporting this trend. But I still hold the opinion these products are higher priced then they need to be. I still may very well buy the FTW3 off Amazon once the prices level out. I am just here waiting to hear more info about, specs, pricing etc, like everybody else.

Really disappointed that EVGA has not came back with some dates for us today. They could atleast allow preorder after all the Shenanigans of Crashed website orders Friday.

There's a few other things too.

ASUS states "mid-March" on their press release (which someone else has linked).  There's the cowcotland link you have there, there's also this videocardz one:
https://videocardz.com/67291/first-look-at-asus-gtx-1080-ti-strix

Then there's also this cashback offer which includes the 1080 Ti Poseidon and says the purchase date must be before 31st March:
https://www.asus-promotion.com/it/tac.html

So quite a bit of evidence pointing towards a release very soon from ASUS.  Hopefully this will speed up the ICX3?

Lest we forget, videocardz said the 1080ti would launch in January.. but that didnt actually happen. Are you really sure you want to take their word as truth, lol.

Asus was the only one that didnt put that rumor out directly, but every "news" site said it.

Again, I will keep saying this, the 1080 founders was released approximately 14 days before the 1080 AIB. Hopefully we have more news about release soon, but not one single site from an actual board partner has released a date yet.

Agree but even assuming we can't trust videocardz there are 2 ASUS sources implying a March release.

I agree there could be a march release. I added a little more in as you quoted me.

Until there is a hard date given out or the firsr AIB card releases, i am going to assume nvidia dod the 14 day window like they did with the 1080 and the 1070.
