I use the exe to run the bios update and i have the 86.04.50.00.70 On the GTX 1070 Black edition ... i didnt check what was the bios before that but its not the 01.70 one is it normal for the GTX1070 black edition or ?

stew, the 1070 sc black edition is a single bios card so after the update your bios version should read 86.04.50.00.70.

bios version 86.04.50.01.70 is only for the dual bios cards like the FTW edition and is associated with its second bios, or the "slave" bios.  so it sounds like you have you black edition successfully updated good sir.

viso418, yes. if you are running a gtx 1070 with acx 3.0 cooling, i.e. non founders or hybrid edition, you should update to version 86.04.50.00.72

this version updates the fan curve for for reduced PWM temps. it was released in conjunction with the thermal pad mod to address concerns regarding PWM temps. evga lists the thermal pad mod as optional, but my opinion is you should apply the thermal pads as well as update to bios version 86.04.50.00.72

Is this new version is also needed for the GTx 1070 SC black edition card ?

correct stew. this version can be found in the pinned post at the top of the page in the 10 series thread.  if you take a look you will see your card listed with a download link next to it.

As it now seems, with the independent testing by toms hardware.de -

http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tomshardware.de%2Fevga-geforce-gtx-1080-ftw-thermal-mod-bios-infrarot-messung%2Ctestberichte-242265-2.html

Us micron VRAM users could flash back from the 86.04.50.00.72 updateto the 86.04.50.00.70 listed on this thread.

Would there be any possible issues doing this?

Hello, just installed my 1070 FTW (08G-P4-6276-KR) but i'm in no way an expert and have never updated the bios on a GPU... so bare with me.. what I need to do is download BOTH Bios (primary and secondary), then install the primary and restart the pc, shut it down then put the gpu on slave mode and flash the secondary, restart the pc again, shut it down and then pass it to master mode and that's it??

Thanks to everyone in advance and sorry for my bad english

that is correct sir. if you intend to overclock the gpu leave the bios set to slave.

im not sure if you will experience this but feel like ill mention it just in case you do. after flashing the primary on my ftw hybrid i shut down the pc and switched to the slave. when i started up my machine once i got past the mobo flash screen on my monitor was a multi colored checker board. i acted quickly and turned the rig off. came here for advice... on my second attempt i again got the checker board but let it run, a couple seconds later windows 10 populated a blue screen that said there was a problem with my hardware, windows was collecting data and restarting. i let it, after the restart it booted fine to the desktop with no issue. i flashed the slave bios, restarted and started over clocking.

you may not experience the same thing but considering mine did it twice after switching it on the gpu i dont think it was a fluke. so i just wanted to let you know so if you do it wont completely flip you out like it did me. :) just let it go to blue screen and restart and it should boot up fine based on my experience.

Could someone please tell me (if there is a way) how to determine which memory my 1070 SC has, Samsung or Micron, without removing the cooler? Thanks

Hi there,

I'm running my 1070s on Ubuntu Linux.  How can I install the BIOS updates there?  Download files seem to be windows-specific.

After the latest BIOS for 08G-P4-5173-KR (86.04.50.00.70) has anyone still been getting "Your computer is running low on Memory" error. Resource Monitor has Ram (16 GB) at 50% when error arises. This only happens when gaming with the 1070. Never happened before. I have GPU clock at default and I have in game on Ultra. Log file info is below. Page file is on C drive at 800 MB. Shared video memory is 8162 MB. Thanks!

A video card bios update shouldn't have anything to do with your PC running out of RAM.

Hello
My card model 08G-P4-6276-KR - EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 FTW ACX 3.0
I'm downloading the file and double click update.exe
Black screen comes up after a few seconds
Waiting 10 minutes nothing to change (GPU-Z)
Restarting the computer again the same old bios
And the video card is disabled Need to reactivate

Hello @akibeel
I found the fix for it if you have an AMD based system?
Contact EVGA 1-888-880-3842 and they will email you the file, it will be 6276ORS.

Follow the instructions as you did with the file update.exe you downloaded. Just do 6272ORS first, reboot then apply the 6272 that you originally downloaded.
It will work! I had the same exact issue.

Good Luck!

In thermal mod thread there is:
  • 08G-P4-6276-KR - EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 FTW ACX 3.0 -  | *72 bios.

Here is *70 bios in thread. Does *72 bios include Micron Fix? Or I need do install *70 bios for Micron VRAM Fix (but than I'll need to change fan curve by myself in MSI AB in order to avoid VRM overheat)?
