How's that possible that not every step up card is eligible for a free backplate? That was the answer I received from EU Dept after receiving my card. I stepped up on 23/9/2014....

Exilelrrp, I step upped to 970 from 770 back in September. Exactly 11/5/2014 I received and registered the 970, so I managed to get everything done before deadline.

The way I read it, you need to have purchased before the 9th, when  you register you register with the date purchased and upload the invoice showing that date. So if you receive your card after the 9th, as long as the purchase date on the invoice is prior, you should be fine ( long as submitted by the 23rd). Just have to have it received where you can register and submit for the backplate before the 23rd.

That's the way I read it. We are in the sweet spot now with backplate and Pick Your Path. 

I was expecting to see if evga would make a 970 with the aluminium housing. But since there was no update on that I just went and ordered the gtx970FTW. If I take for reference the price of manli's one I will save over 60€ shipped, have the free backplate and a hard choice of which game to choose from nvidia's PickYourPath promo.

I am pretty sure EVGA has a better margin selling 980's, why this discrimination towards premium customers???

Gratis backplate only for "cheap" 970 gtx.. That just not fair evga. Disapointed about that. Asus, msi and some generic nvidia 980 come out whit backplate already mounted..

Pick your path promotion applies for 970s too, on the other hand backplates apply only for 970s.
rjohnson, as EVGA moderator you could inform EVGA our concerns, a really dont understand this marketing strategy. I am definetly considering ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI and other brands next time

On the evga website for EU, there is no UK EU region, I selected the german and french region for all 3 of my products, is this correct?  IF so add UK to the country list.

according to the t&c's its the invoice date so you should be ok.

I ordered on Friday but i am still waiting for approval. I hope my card will be shipped on Monday, in 3-4 days i will have it, so am i getting the bakplate if i register it after 9 November? My invoice says ordered 7 November.

Yep, long as you receive and register it before the 23rd, you are golden.
When you register you register with the purchase date and place of purchase, then upload copy of invoice, which in your case will reflect purchase date of Nov 7.

Requested a free backplate more then a week ago and it still says awaiting approval. Wonder how many 1-5 business days is in EVGA days

hi there I registered my back plate and was told all gone through was just wondering when I will receive them has registered 2 both cards registered and both invoices all done I did get a email saying November and yes were still in November but was just curious of when in November  and by the way I am really impressed with them no coil whine and run cold and perform excellent  also o/c well got some nice scores with them on 3mark firestrike

Ordered my GTX 970 SSC ACX 2.0 on the 8th of the October didn't actually pay for it till October 27th due to them being out of stock. I received it on Monday the 10th of November. Went to go sign up for my free back plate to find that 'Sign Up is Closed' yet it clearly states above that, purchase selected cards before the 9th of November and register them before the 23rd. So I've done that but theirs still heaps of time before the close off date why can't I sign up for one? My first experience with EVGA and its a terrible one. 
 
To add insult to injury my brand new GTX 970 has a buzzing sound which I think is the coil whine everyone else is getting, at least from what I've read on various others forums and even youtube videos of peoples issuse with the card. So the experience with EVGA has gotten even worse for me.

Although it says that it starts shipping mid-November, it seems like many people already received their backplates, and I can personally confirm that I have a UPS tracking number and it was already shipped today!
