yapchagireceived my backplates today and installed successfully. Note: the nut on the end of the card that holds the I/O bracket is a pain in the ass to install!!! This guy when doing his video didn't even install his nut... http://youtu.be/-_YUkdglft4 Edit... User who made the video clarified it was the previous nut that he removed and he did install the difficult nut in question.

I'm in Brazil so, it will take longer to ship here. As long as I receive the backplate, I don't mind waiting another month... :) For those of you who installed it already, how is the card's temperature ? Any change ? I see from a video in youtube, it has thermal ribbons (tapes ?) that touch the VRAM chips. I read somewhere that backplates get really hot and might cause the video card to fail. Is this true or bull ?

Sheesh.. (a) as already mentioned, you are further away and it takes longer for items to ship to you - it may be en route already, (b) backplates were not expected until November, so what changed that you are not ok with that now, (c) when did you put your request in - I would imagine it's first come first serve - those getting backplates now probably applied before you did, (d) yes, this is a US company with a presence in the EU, so why do you expect special preferential attention, (e) it's free; in the past most of us had to pay extra for backplates, (f) if I wanted a backplate for my wife's 970 reference card, I'll have to buy one because it's not an ACX model - how is that fair? How about saying thanks instead of complaining!  ..and just realized you're the same guy who said I should sell my wife's 970 card with a noisy fan without telling the new buyer about the issue... gee you are a real class act. If I were EVGA I'd tell you to go take a hike. Fortunately for you I'm not.

Got the backplate in the mail. Looks like USPS decided they didn't care how they handle the package and it came almost bent in half. At least it was free right?

Hey guys, I'm embarrassed to ask but I'm not connecting the dots with this one. When I'm on the backplate page, I have nothing to click, the 'REQUEST YOUR FREE BACKPLATE' banner isn't a hyperlink. Below it is my info with serial # and under status it just says no shipping record found. Was registering my 970 and visiting that page enough and now I just wait for the status to change or is there a spot to make an official request that I'm missing? The fine print at the bottom mentions filling in a form which isn't appearing. EDIT: I emailed support for the fix, there was an error with my account, the request button worked as it should now. Another quick turnaround for help is why I keep coming back.

I applied for a backplate the 17th of october, also the day I did receive and register my card (Date Registered: 10/17/2014 9:14:25 AM).
I'm living in the EU and also used the EU link to request the backplate.
So far my status is still waiting approval.
Anyone in the EU also still waiting for approval?

I just bought my card today but I can't seem to be able to register it for a backplate. The reason I bought it was because it came with a free backplate, otherwise I would have gotten the Asus strix which has been out of stock for weeks now. I am very disappointed, I might contact newegg and send it back and just wait for the Asus strix to be in stock. Edit: I can't seem to click on anything when I'm on the registering page. Is the promotion over?
