Can someone please help me in this matter? I purchased and registered my EVGA 970 SC and I want to get my backplate. I am aware the regions that apply but since I am from Costa Rica it looks like I don't apply for any region. I have a billing and shipping address locker in USA via Aeropost and I just need it to be delivered there in order for it to come to my country.

If you already registered your step-up, you have nothing to worry about besides the waiting time.

Reading through this thread I'm not exactly pleased for I have registered my new 970 SC on 08/11 and have yet to receive a confirmation of approval from EVGA.
Don't get me wrong,  I thank EVGA for this free goodie but it's not okay to let some people wait weeks while others get their approval the next day.

I can share your frustration on this, and it seems the reason why some seem insta-approved and others don't depends on the territory, with the US EVGA being on top of things and the EU EVGA being behind on updates.
You must be in EU, is that correct? That's at least my case. I registered my 2 FTWs on Nov. 5 and I'm still waiting for "that" 1-5 business days approval. I dunno... maybe EU EVGA has 1 business day a week? =)

I'm sure it has to do with the region you live in. I've lived in the US for many years and delays like this would not have happened there. I guess I'm still used to these standards (yes I am in the EU), but again, I'm not complaining, I just hope they'll ship the backplate eventually. On a side note... the backplate promotion seems to have ended.

Well, this is what mine says since registering them on Nov. 5th:

The problem here is not patience or the lack of it. The problem is the different customer treatment depending on the territory. =)
 

 
Good point. Mine doesn't say anything since registering my 970. It's as if they never even received a request. But they did because they confirmed that by email.

I just got the same thing exil. And mine also said it's been in Brea, CA since the 14th. This is troubling.........I expected them to at least be here today or sometime this week. No movement plus sudden NO TRACKING?!?! That is scary

What exactly is the purpose of this backplate.   I missed out as i just ordered card yesterday :(

IMO it's 100% an aesthetic thing. It also helps dissipate heat from the memory modules, but I don't think that does anything at all. Looks cool as hell though! Check out a video I made about the backplate (and 970 FTW) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNzxh7Fcs7Q
