Is the SC 780 6GB not coming back? I just went to start my step-up and the only option I get is the vanilla version.

Edit:
Well, apparently I can't step up my SC 780 3GB to a SC 780 6GB.
Not happy right now. Is the vanilla version worth it for the extra 3GB alone?

Ruh roh.

Newegg removed the SC 6GB from their site about a week ago.

Now it's gone from Amazon, too. Noone is selling it!

I still need a 2nd one for SLI.......but no way to buy one :(

Will see it back shortly.

Thanks!

Snaggified from Newegg =D

SLI, here I come! Well, in about 45 days when my build is finished LOL.

In order to change things, adding ram and a few processors is not enough. You really have to innovate and disrupt markets. Kind of like apple. Gpu's should take previously existing technology and reimagine it to create something super perfect. That is my opinion.  I wish gpu's got innovated upon so that they can fit in a usb stick that plugs into your computer.

EVGA z77 FTW
G Skillz 1866 Mhz (2x8GB)
CoolerMaster HAF 932

Seagate 3 TB @ 7200 RPM

Ya but usb not fast enough to do that. But I do agree I wish you could buy a video board like a mother board so the ram and GPU be upgraded. that would be tits. Or even make a MOBO with gpu spot next to the cpu.

I think you're looking for something like Razer's Project Christine :)

A fully-modular computer form factor. Pop out the GPU module, pop in a new module. Etc.

The concept is wonderful......getting manufacturers to actually MAKE the replaceable modules is a hurdle Razer has to overcome. I hope they do.

Can anyone help me? I'm interested in the 6GB SC 780. What are the chances that if I order on August 1st, that by Nov 1st I will be able to start the process for the Step Up for an 880? 8XX cards are supposed to come out in November and I don't have a GPU in my PC, so I can't wait for the 8XX to arrive or even for September to start the 90 day countdown before the Step Up program expires and acquire an 880 in time.

welp my step up window just closed
gg evga....
not happy about the lack of a 6GB 780Ti .... seems silly to make the 2nd best card with 6GB and not the top card
or even offering a Titan Black as an option to step up from the 780Ti in place of the lacking 6GB option

If I was to buy a 780 6gb now, would I be able to do a step-up if the 800 series ends up being availible?

But the step-up program is still ongoing for the 6gb.

So If I was to buy a 580 back in the day, and the step up program was ongoing.. 60 days later, the 680 came out, that would cover? Just trying to figure out how this whole step-up program works, or if it's only within a specific product line.

Not exactly what it does is your 580 would cover the dollar amount of what ever you paid for it minus the tax on purchasing a 680 within the 90 day period of getting your 580. example= 580/$600  - 680/$700 = you pay $100 plus tax and shipping

note: that its only available to qualified products with the 90 step-up stamped on the box.

How does the EVGA Step-Up process work? There are several steps to the Step-Up program.  Because we require that you send your original product to EVGA first, we have instituted a process that makes sure you have the least amount of downtime possible.  Once you have gotten through the queue, approval and payment phases, you can send your product in to EVGA and once we receive it we will turn it around as quickly as possible.  Shipping both directions will be your responsibility.

Stepping through the Step-Up

  1. Register your valid product within 90 days from your original purchase
    1. If your qualifying product has a 3 year warranty purchased on or after 3/1/2013 and registered within 14 days of the invoice date by the original owner from an authorized reseller, then you will receive the option to step-up for the first 90 days of ownership.
    2. If your qualifying product has a 3 year warranty purchased on or after 1/1/11 and registered after 14 days of the original purchase date you must also purchase an extended warranty in order to be qualified for the step-up program.
  2. Upload a copy of your invoice
  3. Request to start your Step-Up within 90 days of your original purchase from your product detail page
    1. Navigate to My Products under Member Home
    2. Click on View Details of the product
    3. If your product qualifies, you will see the option to start your Step-Up
  4. Wait in queue until approval - this step can last from a few days to many weeks depending on demand
  5. EVGA will review your request and you will be approved if you have met the terms and conditions
  6. You will have 7 days to pay for the difference between the two products, plus return shipping and applicable taxes, after you have been approved
  7. You will be instructed to send your product in and you will have 14 business days to do so after your payment is verified
  8. When EVGA receives your product, we will return your new in box upgrade
  9. EVGA will automatically register your product so you will receive the full warranty on your Step-Up (as of 1/1/11)
    • Any product auto-registered will have its Extended Warranty transferred automatically.
  10. You will receive your product shipped via the shipping option you chose and paid for - game on!
You will receive detailed emails at every step to instruct what must be done to continue.  All Step-Up requests must go through this exact process, you may not purchase the new product and send your original product back for a refund afterward.

Well I guess I'm late to the party.
I just bought a GTX 780 Ti 3GB Superclocked and discovered the 6GB step-up opportunity when I was registering. Sadly it looks like the step up is over now?

I have a 780 Ti, but I recently added an EK waterblock to it along with a backplate. Can I still participate in the step-up program even though I've modified the graphics card? I would have to trade in a modified card without any of the built on coolers or fans that came with it.

I'm no expert, so someone may correct me.....but I do believe they will still accept it. You'll be out the cash for the waterblock, though.

Next time, make sure to KEEP the stock hardware! Even if just for warranty work, you'll need it.

Honestly, I'd keep your Ti if you're running a single card. If you're doing SLI, then yes, this is a nice card :) Especially with (supposedly, rumored, unconfirmed, etc) higher VRAM games coming out.

I think the new 980 is roughly the same price as 780 6GB.....I'd probably step up to that if it were me!

Hello guys, I know this might be random but if someone can kindly help me with this problem I'm having.. Everytime I play my MMORPG game, it just suddenly freezes up my computer. It does't crash or anything just locks up. No BSOD, No error message. just whole screen freezes. This happens so randomly too that we know it's not from Overheating (We checked on GPU-z and used the benchmark testing that came with the card. Tried on Ultra mode aswell. sometimes in High mode it would freeze every after 30 mins while its running). It can happen after 2 mins from starting the video game, then sometimes, 30 mins, 2 hours or 10 hours even. Now we just got our new graphics card EVGA 06G-P4-3787-KR G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 780 6GB 384-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support SC w/ EVGA ACX Cooler Video Card.

we're not sure if we're getting the wrong power to it and if those two Power Adapters that came with the card is needed.

This is the specs of our PC:
(please check if power supply or something isn't compatible or its something else.)

Processor(AMD FX-9590 CPU (8x 4.70GHz/8MB L3 Cache))
Processor Cooling(Corsair Hydro Series H60 Liquid CPU Cooling System - ARC Dual Silent High Performance Fan Upgrade (Push-Pull Airflow))

Motherboard(ASUS Sabertooth 990FX - AMD 990FX w/ 4x PCI-E 2.0 x16)
Power Supply(850 Watt - XFX Core Edition PRO850W - 80 PLUS Bronze)
Primary Hard Drive(1 TB HARD DRIVE -- 32M Cache, 7200 RPM, 6.0Gb/s - Single Drive)
Data Hard Drive(None)

Memory(16 GB [8 GB x2] DDR3-1600 Memory Module - Corsair or Major Brand)

My first time to post here!!!! :D ty who can help.

you really need PCI-e 3.0 board. IMO but your psu 850 should be fine unless you have a lot of other connections and if your using steam ya the download during gameplay will do that. I use that same exact card with a 700watt psu on a itx evga stinger z77 with a 3570k cpu. its a beast But to me it sounds like an irritating issue I had with may game being on a external hard drive feed usb 3,0 it di that same thing to me when I used win 8.1pro but doesn't when I use windows 10 preview. . Hope the info helps my not be what you looking for but anyways.

Is this still a thing? I registered for this last March and never got notified that I could start the Step-Up process.  If it is, I'd certainly like to take advantage of this.

Wow I dont think they even make them anymore. I wish they did i still want one more. Its a fantastic PC video card. way more cudas and higher qualiy graphics then anything i have seen. Not as fast as the new 980s but but I dont think it matches the what you see quality. simple fact of amount of cudas and memory plus transfer rate . All the 980 owners are gonna disagree some how some way but they have that right too. i will enjoy my card while they PC drag race

I have a new one of these with a backplate. Is it sellable and what price do you think it could be sold for. I have a backplate as well. Some have told me to keep it and that it is nearly as capable as the 980.  Thanks for the help. I am wondering if this forum thread is still alive! LOL   GB

The problem with  these 6g 780's is the they dont have the horsepower to really use all 6g's of ram.
As for re-sale value?  that depends?
with the 900's out and the 970' being clocked to hang with the 780ti's i can not say a  definite price for a used 780.
If i were in the market for a  single card i would buy a 970 FTW or super, super clocked for $350 new.
So a guy that needs a second 780 to run SLI would want one and amazon has these used for $400

Hey evh19781984,

I have to ask what the years mean!

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply to a thread that is ancient. I wasn't sure if I would get a response.

I hear you regarding the 970.  I only stepped up to this card because I had a buyer who wanted to buy the card and couldn't find it for sale anywhere. So I stepped up and in about 10 days I had the new card and the backpate. I call this guy to let him know and he already had purchased one for almost $800! The card isn't even being used!

I agree with you that often things sell when you wouldn't think that they would pull in a very high $ amount; but someone out there is running a server with Velociraptors or a gaming rig with a certain video card... etc and it is the match that makes the value go up.

I sold one of 3 new Velociraptors (500GB) on eBay, expecting it to sell for $100 and someone bid $200! I even emailed them and gave them a chance to get out of the deal if they were purchasing "uninformed", but they were happy to get it, period.

Do you think it is worth it to post it here? So many people here stay current with their cards. Bad part about EBay is that they "steal" so much of the sale.

thanks for your help and input,

GB
