I just bought a new monitor (1440p) and have had no issues with the card before that.
I installed BF1 to see how it looked and after changing the resolution to the highest the monitor will go I had colored dots flashing and strobing on the screen.
When scaled down back to 1080 it stops and has no issues. I thought maybe it was just bf1 that had issuesu so I tested another game out. This time rise of the tomb raider.
Same thing, colorful spots and also black boxes on the screen. I tried enabling and then disabling DX 12 to see if it fixed the issues but still t he same problem.
 
This only happens on newer/ more demanding titles. I can run PUBG, Dota2, hearthstone , Overwatch, with no problems at all.
Card is running at 71c under load and never has passed 78c.
 
anyone ever experience anything similar? I really dont want to have to send this thing in.

What kind of display cable are you using?

I am using a display port. I purchased it on amazon. Monitor supports 165hz and have had no issues.

What is the monitors model number?

You are having an issue right now. How long is your cable? 1440p at high refresh rate requires allot more bandwith than 1080p. Do you have another cable to test? Shorter preferred.

Sounds like your displayport cable isn't vesa certified.

I did what you said above. I used display driver uninstall and reinstalled the latest driver.
nothing changed.
do you think there is a chance its the monitor??? doesnt seem likely.

The displayport cable that ships with the PG279Q is vesa certified. What happens when you lower the refresh rate from 165, to 144, 120 or 60?

Same issue occur using hdmi?

Also its not the monitor, I just tried it at 60hz at 1080p on my 2nd monitor and im having the same issue. ( for the record i didnt think the monitor was at fault.)

Time to rma the gpu.

its the gpu, RMA it dude. Battlefield 1 artifacted like that when I overclocked my memory too far on a 1070. specifically the dots, all of mine were red though, and I didn't have the purple flashing. My card wasn't faulty  though, just too high of an OC on the memory. My guess would be that the memory is shot somehow. Probably why it works fine in 1080p but not 1440p, more memory needed. RMA it and best of luck.
