Enstranged I'm not at my main PC right now, any news on how it sounds at 100%? Same as a GTX 480 basically. The fan runs at 5200-5300 RPM at 100%. The good news with the GTX 580s is that 100% fan isn't needed unless you significantly increase the voltage and clockspeeds. (like for benching runs on Vantage)

z3r0t0l0rence Whats the difference between EVGA's and Falcon_CMH modd? Not sure, but there is a lot more to a fanspeed unlocker than just a minimum and maximum, there was a lot of work done to ensure that the fan curve stays as close to NVIDIA and EVGA 580 reference fan curve as possible.

wait, is the 30% idle fan speed the default speed set in bios now regardless of using precision or is it still 40% idle with the manual option to set it lower? i was under the impression that the 30% is the new default idle fan speed.

It depends on the GPU temp, if it is low enough you may see 30%, but it is unlikely at auto setting.

I don't own a 580 yet, but.. thanks EVGA for providing this to the folks who asked for it, no company would take the requests that users wants from thier threads, that's what makes EVGA so special, if someone can't appreciate that, then I ask them to go ahead and buy from another company and see the difference.

Maybe im missing something, if the cards don't really run low enough to call for 30% at idle why would one run it at 25%?

SAMCRO-FTW Maybe im missing something, if the cards don't really run low enough to call for 30% at idle why would one run it at 25%? Some are willing to accept higher idle temps with lower fan noise and they can do that manually or with a custom profile if they wish. I'm currently awaiting my 580 step ups so I can't personally vouch for the noise level at various fan speeds. However, I can hear mine just slightly at 40% on my 470's.

Good point. Is there an easy way to flash back to the original? Don't get me wrong, I love the idea that you (EVGA) are taking care of us. I've just not run into any problems with the original bios and fan profile. Now, I'm not benching at extreme overclocks either so those that are will really appreciate this. For me, and what I do, it's not really necessary, but I want the option just in case I decide to get back into a few benches. Thanks!

ya i flashed this one and I didnt notice any difference in fan sound at 30%. And thats saying a lot because the only other noises I have are my 2 noctua fans on radiator and my pump and they are barely audible. I guess the video card fan noise gets drowned under those. Id like to go back to the original since my card did go up 5C with this flash at idle. To me thats more important especially since i cant hear a difference. Props to NVIDIA for a really quiet fan on a monster of a card. And thanks EVGA for offering this bios, your awesome. So right now, also waiting for the original bios please :)
