Well there seems to be another tweak  in these bios as now my highest voltage is 1150 as before with my stock bios it would only go to 1138.

i can confirm this as well!

 With this bios fix, EVGA has given potential customers the best reason in the world to buy EVGA, better performance and decreased noise.
Nvidia's MNLC bios on the gtx580  demonstrates Nvidia has decided to give customers the exact opposite of what they want.  So when  Kepler is released I expect Nvidia's fan restriction will increase from 40% - 85% to 50% - 70%, further denying users their right of choice in matters of personal preference.  
I hope that EVGA will not underestimate end users desire for ever lower noise levels and ever greater cooling capacity and the resulting increased sales that go along with correcting Nvidia's blunders whenever they can, like with a bios mod. 
 

Updated the bios and so far so good. Just wondering, is it necessary or recommended to reinstall the drivers?
 
The drivers were still the same after the bios update and restarting the PC. So far everything works fine without reinstalling the drivers.

If it didn't prompt you to reinstall drivers, you should be fine.

I dont understand why you all just dont use Afterburner and make your own custom profiles, or do a little homework and use rivatuner.

I can't hear my 580 at 50% duty cycle.
I game with it at 65% and its barely audible and runs in the 65C range.
To run the fan at 30% seems totally irrevelant.

I guess if you want to overvolt and overclock your card to play Vantage or 3D Mark all day.......it's worth something?

I used to use riva tuner for all my cards before the 580, I LOVED it, but now, for some reason it just refuses to work. What's the trick?

So in a dead silent room with no case fans, HDD, PSU fan, CPU fan, nothing generating any noise whatsoever, you can't hear your  580 fan at a distance of 4 feet?   We should trade fans because I can hear mine at 30% fan.

You won't get 1.3 though the BIOS.  Every BIOS can go up to 1.213v

I think that is right on. Without a hard mod, 1.213v looks like it might be the BIOS limit.

If I click on the Download Link I get a page of "Garble" as below. any ideas as to what I have to do to be able to download the File?

I got 1.150 on my superclocks now up from 1.138 with this bios. I approve!

wait, is the 30% idle fan speed the default speed set in bios now regardless of using precision or is it still 40% idle with the manual option to set it lower?

i was under the impression that the 30% is the new default idle fan speed.

It depends on the GPU temp, if it is low enough you may see 30%, but it is unlikely at auto setting.

im seeing it on both my cards.....32*(ICD)/36*(EVGA)

Will this update work for a tri sli setup?

Not know if i ever use the Features of new Bios but anyway i try it out.
A bit feared the flash cause i thk i get a blank systemdisk or something like.....but was easy to use and i think it function cause i can write here....

Edit: thk programmer of EVGAtool and Afterburner named Unwinder or some like this......unlikely he got some contract with msi or am i wrong?  So why u cant develope a similartool with other name like Double-Precisiontool with all features as Afterburner?

Great!  Now all we need is an increased VGPU limit for Fermi users.  But I guess you guys don't want the noobs to fry their cards.

Confirmed as well, reference GTX580 WILL go to 1.15V in MSI afterburner with this bios update! cheers!!

 
Hmm, you sure you don't have an SC card?  Or did this "Fan Unlocker" suddenly enable 1150 mV?  The GTX 580 has the same VRM as the GTX 480.  I'm gonna go all the way to California to EVGA's office and beg for moar voltage (1200 mV minimum).  Or I'll use another modded BIOS.
