Typical. I sent my FTW back yesterday and stepped up to the SSC. Knew I should've waited. Any chance I can change it?

It seems like you no longer have the cards, but did you happen to try using an SLI bridge on both slots?

Yes, I used it on the second slot and it seemed to fix the black lines, but I was getting this very annoying studdering issue in my game, which was not there when I would get the occasional black line on the other slot.

It has been confirmed by Jacob Freeman - you can Step-Up to the 970 FTW+ from your current 970 FTW (and probably any other 970-series card) if you are within the 90-day program allowance:

twitter.com/EVGA_JacobF/status/556274051019444224

And again it proves EVGA's customer service and commitment to customers is one of many very good reasons people stick with EVGA.  I've started my Step-Up process, I'll update once it's approved to verify.

Got tired of waiting for the FTW+.  Returned my two "old" SSCs 970s and got two Gigabyte G1 970s.  The G1 is better than my old SSC in every possible way.  They are faster, better OC, quiter, run cooler, came with backplate, and actually light up my EVGA Pro SLI bridge.

I really hope EVGA is stepping it up with the FTW+ like they appear to be.

Blasphemy!

I just realized... Those cards have the new power design, a back plate, a 4th heat pipe... and a heatsink is like 2" longer than EVGA's new design for 30 dollars less than what EVGA want's for their FTW+. Hmm....

I'm no more surprised when guys step-up to another brand, good choice TahoeDust.

the Gigabyte G1 lights up the EVGA Pro SLI bridge while EVGA's own GTX 970's don't.
OMG EVGA!?!

I'm waiting till the end of the month. I will decide which route I take depending on a few things that happen. I signed up for that Kingpin pre-order, i'm also waiting for AMD to announce or release their new generation... and price is the last part... I'm going with the best performance I can get out of $700... Which might be a pair of MSI Lightening R9 290X's and run tri CFX.

New ssc card is a beast. Only differs from ftw+ is; backplate and 26mhz overclock.

Funny is that my ssc boosts higher than my old ftw :)

Re: EVGA GEFORCE GTX 970 SSC & FTW+ 2015/01/19 19:10:17 (permalink)
well I waited to the last possible day to send my old sc in and now I am just waiting till the end of this week early next week to get my ssc in the mail.

I promise to put all pertinent asic score and max stable overclock on here when I get mine back.  I have pushed every card I have ever owned to the limit (I have never got a bad overclocker) and I will put this computer outside at night and I will see how far this thing can be pushed with near freezing temperatures as the ambient.

I do want to add to this thread that I have been doing folding at home which evga will give you $10 per month for hitting a goal that I reached in 2 weeks while only using my card on off peak power times.  In the end it is about a breakeven for me to fold when considering the extra money on my power bill compared to the evga bucks I get.  however, I do get to have evga bucks that my wife cannot account for so that is cool.  the first thing I am going to get is a backplate with those evga bucks.

My new SSC arrived today. The card is quiet and cool unlike my old R9 290 Tri-X. That thing got really hot and loud, even with a decent air flow in my case.

When I put my head really close to case there is a barely noticeable buzzing noise. From my desk it's impossible to hear, so there is no problem at all with coil whine.

It's my first EVGA card and I'm really excited about it. Finally cool and quiet gaming, thank you!

Just got my new SSC today as well. No coil whine, and it's quiet unless the fans spool up. I have a fairly aggressive fan curve and when it hits 50 degrees, the fan comes on and can sound like a jet engine if it's at 50%+. Not suffering from some of the issues that people ar reporting on the Nvidia forums so far.

Boosts to 1379 mhz. stock, not sure I'm going to overclock, as I don't really play anything that really requires it yet.

if any of you new ssc model owners want to report your asic score that would be cool (use gpu-z).  just curious.  a boost clock of 1379 should be a mid 60's asic
