I like it, but I feel like this is an easy mod to make to the card on your own.
But the white one already looks so #&Q&^! cool!!!!!!!! The way the white highlights of the shroud contrast against the dark colors of the fans and card  ... oops, now I think I need a cigarette!

I have a tempered glass case, S340 Elite black, so the black FTW 3 would look nice, better than the silver IMO. I had the 1080 SC, You won't notice the silver color on the bottom. The color is just a preference for me, hopefully the elite edition won't break the bank. I'm hoping you can just contact CS and ask for the existing preorder to be changed to the elite version and also get the same May 1st release date, since the elite is just a custom color.

Actually I'm in the same boat - my case has no window, and has padding to quiet things down, so I can't see the cool LED's on my 1080 card nor the blue LED fans I have (they're quiet; they just so happen to have blue LED's on them). I do get to see the back of my case, so I can see the color of the LED on the back of my 1080 card ... purty!

Danke schön! Been keeping an eye out for the 1080ti market, was leaning toward Asus's OC version due to the neutral color scheme, but I think this might be the card for me (if I can get it in black :c)
Though I still haven't decided what GPU I should get... ahem vega.

This is just ridiculous...the white card looks amazing. I have a pre-order for a 1080FTW3 and would absolutely LOVE the option to pick that white shroud...OMG

Don't look at my tally then!!! LOL. I only started on the forums here recently but been very solid with EVGA products since 2008. I am just happy I bought my case and psu late last year. I would have been upset if I did not qualify. I want the black one myself! I feel the red would stand out too much in my setup. If only they had an orange card! Would be perfect!
As long as your popular enough, you can get away with anything.

Sorry for all the people that hope the backplate has a different color, but I really hope the backplate still looks black. If the backplate would be colored, I wouldn't get the Elite Version. Btw do you get any notification when you are an "Elite" member?

A white backplate with black lettering on the FTW3 Elite would be very nice. But a back blackplate is ok too. See what I did there? :) If I was a bean counter at EVGA, I would offer the Elite versions all 5 colors with a black backplate to keep costs down and satisfy 50% of the Elite qualifying customers. Then, offer the 5 color backplates as a separate purchase (and to make more money) and satisfy the other 50% of customers who really want to saturate their awesome build with their favorite theme color. Win-Win for everyone! :)

Have you seen what is supposedly the FTW3's backplate?  The backplate lettering lights up via LED's. MarthaMay

Were I da king, I'd offer the FTW3 stock and then offer all of the exchangeable bits (such as different colored backplates, shrouds, etc.) as separate purchase items. As you say, win-win for everyone... well, depending on where they set the cost of each separate item (someone's gonna complain no matter what, right?! :-)
