I'm pretty bummed right now. I've been looking forward to this case coming out for a while now. But unfortunately due to some money issues I'm going to have to cancel my pre-order. Can't wait to see them start to ship and the builds all of you do in them.

sorry to hear that! :(

hopefully they ship pretty soon, I'm moving my triple Titan X sli build into this case. it'll be on air for a bit, until I get around to finally doing the rigid tubing for the loop thats going in (bending, scary)

TITAN X 3Way SLI will look sick inside DG-87.
I'm really glad because all EVGA hardware will get new home and customers could bought in same time with PSU.
I always looked to PSU and case are elegant and long term investment.
I hope this is only beginning and EVGA will present one case every year.

Thanks Sourmonkey, nice find.

I wouldn't say that review wasn't favourable, they gave it a Hexus recommended award at the end and really only pointed out a few issues and they did stress several times that they reviewed a pre-production unit.

One issue they brought up was the GPU airflow but they didn't mention anything about the GPU airflow channel slider, did they use it? correctly for their SLI setup? and how much will that affect the temperatures?

The noise issue is a worry though, from the article "review sample struggled to soak-up vibration and had a tendency to rattle" doesn't sound good and I hope that's fixed before retail and some dampening is added.

Thanks again.

Hmm, Looks like I will have a use for my leftover dynamat and ensolite foam.. Guess I'll be adding a layer anywhere I can before I even install parts.

How well do the noise reduction foams work? I generally read that they don't really help much with pc cases. I would think the front plastic panel would be the weak point noise wise and it'd be a shame to cover it up. That's why I use the Noctua DH15 and 140mm Noctua fans.

There are a lot of good fans for DG-87... If EVGA fans are OK they could stay but if I need to choose custom fans I will check first with software...
Depend what is better 3pin or 4pin fans...
Noiseblocker Blacksilent Pro 140mm PK-3 1700RPM 3pin
Noiseblocker Blacksilent Pro 140mm PK-PS 1500RPM 4pin is probably great option.
They fit best with case.

Here is Noctua Redux 140mm 1500RPM

The Redux aren't as good as the regular Noctua fans. They are a budget line without the antivibration pads in the corners. That being said, the one review to cover the fan controller reported it as a DC or 3pin fan controller. They didn't mention the number of channels though.

if its not a 4pin PWM i'll replace it. 4pin PWM fans are the only way to go imho.

EDIT: i think they are 4 pin as they show them here

All my fans are 4 pin now.  I am always looking for true PWM fan controllers, but so far only the higher end motherboards have them built in and most expansion bay fan controller are DC only and use PWM fans in a DC only mode.

OK than Noiseblocker Blacksilent PRO 140mm 4pin(PWM) 1500RPM.

Plastic parts for holding cables behind motherboard tray are so good option.
And sleeved cables... Only need EVGA 1000 T2 and EVGA Black Sleeve.

This case is nicer than my Obsidian 650D.
Special because it's never with innovations and far better options for cooling.

Personally I wouldn't use the foam on it's own. I'd treat it like in automotive industry: Dynamat on bare surface, foam over top. I wouldn't apply this to any visible surface, just to those that are hidden. Surfaces will carry the vibration regardless of it's source, so it's helpful to treat any surface you can. The only downside I see is more insulation, but the case has great airflow, so shouldn't pose a serious issue. Probably overkill, but why not go all out if I already have it! Also, I don't use dynamat, only said it since most are familiar with the name. there are cheaper thinner and better solutions out there. I like http://www.raamaudio.com/

If you decide on foam as well, make sure it's ensolite or any other form of closed-cell foam. Open-cell foam is pointless.

Another quick solution is felt tape. fixes rattles quick, is very thin and barely visible.

I think that was the point of Jacob's last post. He said that all the cases would ship in the next 1-2 weeks, so that's technically a warning. He also said that he would update us as they get closer to shipping. So, if you've got the money, I would just move it into your paypal and let it sit there until they charge it.

Complete review , including build results

Does specify the case has built in raised stands for motherboard.

Yet the results of the build is disturbing ! The gpu temps reached 80 because of firmware issues making the exhaust fans stop. (Evga claims to fix this in final production model) and the noise level of the case is super high compared to others ...

To market a case as one with great air flow you would think noise would be the issue but on the other end the gpu sits a bit away from the rear which the reviewer claims is a issue for blower model graphics cards and overall temp results are worse than some of the other cases in the benchmarks .

Overall most insightful review however one I doubt Evga would have shared on their own due to the results not being favorable

@jacob I believe sound damping material would be a great addition to the final product
This is a bit disappointing, I was hoping this case would be quiet.

Didn't they use a passive CPU cooler in that build on an older high wattage processor?

Edit: I see they used a single fan CPU cooler. I'm not sure how reliable their results were. GPU Temps do reach 80 when using the stock fan settings. Anyone on this forum would set a more aggressive curve.

they used a be quiet! Dark Rock 3 which is equal to say a cryorig or evo air cooler which is I believe a little better at cooling than stock. however the cpu is was a older generation model Intel Core i5-3570K still viable in todays gaming world they did have it clocked to 4.4ghz so heat could have made the fans raise a bit. Being a prototype model I can understand the build issues in the test model.

most air coolers run extremely quiet ! I have a Cryorig h7 on a i7 6700k I used the gigabyte software to OC my cpu to 4.6ghz CAM showed my temps at 56-59 under load with the fan remaining quiet . I have a H110i gtx still boxed waiting on my DG-86 to come in however I fear the dual corsair fans on the cooler will make more noise than my Cryorig

Is the DG86 a black colored case? I know the DG87 is that silverish gun metal, but in the promo stuff it looks like the 86 is black - Is it actually black ,or just an odd rendering?

Sadly from personal experience, most fan controllers accommodate 4pin fan connectors but really only use the 3pins for each one.

Hopefully that isn't correct. It would be stupid for a case that is advertised to accommodate 8 fans and a fan controller, but not able to control all the fans.

so we got a confirmation that it's not an actual pwm controller since it's only a 3 pin?

If you look under: Support -> Product Manuals -> EVGA Cases -> EVGA DG-8, on page 7 it says, "... control hub in the case which supports 6 3pin fans"

Hopefully that isn't correct. It would be stupid for a case that is advertised to accommodate 8 fans and a fan controller, but not able to control all the fans.

If your offering that many fans, you should make sure you have a hub that can support them all.
Also the manual states something about some hardware screws used to connect to a power supply.. so i know some of it is incorrect.

If you read the manual they posted recently it states that the fan headers are rated to 1 amp. But it doesn't say if there are 2, or 3 headers, or 3pin or 4pin, just intake and exhaust. If there are only 2 headers then you'll typically be limited to 4 fans per header. So if you max out all fans on the case you will most likely have to use the motherboard for the left 2 fans.

All preorders are planned to ship within 1-2 weeks. Will continue to provide updates as we get closer.

So were about 1 day short of the one week mark. So looks like all cases will be shipped within the next 8 days ?
