Trelor
Well I was able to get a pre-ordered card for the world's most expensive ground shipping of $31.11 or I could have done next day air for ~$172 .

Seriously....when can we expect another batch of these cards? It's kinda removed masked language that I've been waiting for this card for months, only to be greeted by an ''error'', even though I was on time for the pre-order.

Pretty frustrated right now. I clicked the email link literally as soon as it showed up in my inbox and just happened to be logged onto evga's website. I could not have went thru the ordering process faster and all I got was numerous repeat errors. I have a classified that I picked up at microcenter last week but really wanted the hybrid too.

I too received the shipping error and quickly figured out what caused it.  The item had already been placed in my cart and wouldn't allow for a second one to be added.  I wasn't trying to buy two cards, but hadn't realized that one was already in my cart.  So, I selected on the cart which showed "1".  Once I did that I was returned to my cart and was able to pre-order the card without any other issues.  No less than 5 minutes later they were sold out.

This is exactly what I did: on the exact items page, hit preorder button which took me to the cart showing the item/price, etc, I go to the next screen where it shows all of my information/shipping/etc all already setup and done with the checkbox that billing and shipping is the same as I am signed in with my account, I go to the next screen, ERROR shipping box on the top saying to go back along with the agreement box below it with a checkbox but no other options...so I go back, back to the cart, same process, same error. I click on the cart icon where it shows only 1 in my cart as added, go through it again, same error. I delete the item, re-add it, same error. I kept scrambling at this point in both firefox and chrome because I knew it would be out of stock quickly, but there were no other options or anything I could do to remedy this problem before finally being told it's no longer in stock.

I have ordered from EVGA before without problem, I have done battle previously with new products like this during the 980ti hybrid wave and when I was too slow to order or missed it entirely, I took it on the chin, it is what it is, but this time with this error? There's no way, I was on top of this before I even saw jacob's twitter or any notify emails.

I received the email alert that it was in stock. 30 minutes later I went to website to place the order... The same old "Auto-Notify" was only listed... Called the Sales hotline. The guy said that the email alert was sent out in error, and that no 1080 Hybrids were sold today. Rep said that he'd already gotten a bunch of calls on this and they were reporting the false email to their internal IT department. C'mon!

Does any one happen to know how long it typically takes Amazon to get the cards? I would really like to use my 5% cash back on this purchase.

I dunno i seem to have a 1080 hybrid listed in my order history.
So i doubt it was an error.

There's multiple people who experienced this similar error, just because some people got through and some didn't, it doesn't mean there was no error.
if it was out of stock and we were too slow, it would have stated that the way it did after trying tons of times to get through and experiencing that shipping error.

Something is definitely wrong. The rep said that their internal sales app was showing 0 units sold today... Maybe they let a few "pre-orders" go through... Maybe this was a stop-gap measure while the SKU was listed as available?

Also, if they sold-out in under 30 minutes, they didn't really have any significant stock anyways... ;|

I had the same exact shipping page error happen to me four or five times last week when I was ordering another Hybrid kit. It finally showed the shipping options and let me finish the sale. So I dont think its happening for just that one item.

Is EVGA gonna address this at all or just brush over it because they sold out (obviously) so who cares?
after waiting for months, and now more waiting until who knows when, and then dealing with shortages, and now errors, it's not even worth bothering anymore.

The 980 Ti hybrids were a 120mm, so it should be the same 120mm as I'm sure they haven't changed anything other than the shroud for their hybrid design.

Overclocking is not a factor, even FE cards give you the same 2.1Ghz that every single version of the card is getting.

Another factor that helped me make my decision was that the Sea Hawk isn't needlesly wide, so I can keep my side-mounted pair of 140mm fans on the cover without clearance issues

I already had an FTW and I got rid of the FTW because there's still no ETA for the kit, could be a month or two, and then having to deal with trying to get one on the first wave, if you're willing to wait THAT long, you'd might as well just wait for the 1080ti or whatever is coming next--not to mention paying more overall.

The wait is getting waaaaaaaay too long for this cards release, I DEEPLY regret not buying gigabyte's waterforce the multiple times I had the chance just because of my loyalty to EVGA, DEEPLY after this error nonsense.

Not a cure at all.  THE SAME EXACT THING WILL HAPPEN WITH THE 1080TI - hello!  It will probably be even worse because everyone is expecting the 1080Ti to have near Titan X specs for $400 less.  Nvidia learned from their mistake with the 980Ti having similary performance to the Titan X Maxwell, so don't expect the specs to be as close this time around.

Most likely specs of the 1080Ti:

8GB GDDR5X (not 12GB, sorry)
3072 shader units (to be expected - greater amount than 1080, but less than Titan X)
384-bit bus (a gift from Nvidia as they could easily skimp and give us the 256-bit bus that the 1080 uses)
GPU & Memory clock speeds are anyone's guess, but will most likely be a bit lower due to the additional unlocked SMs vs. the 1080

Or, just ignore all of this hypothesis mumbo jumbo and wait for Volta...or even later for ????

You get the point ;-)  You can keep waiting, but eventually you are going to have to settle and buy something!

I agree with this logic which is why I think it's important to jump on the new train ASAP if you are going to upgrade to enjoy your investment for a longer period before prices on it plummet thanks to a new product, let alone that slap in the face for people who do buy a high end card late only to have a new one drop within months of their purchase.
We're going on into our third month now, EVGA's hybrids still not released, they drop preorders today that will ship next week even though supposedly it was this week? But nothing new there. There's no ETA on the FTW kits by themselves, we'll be into what by then, the 4th-5th month? That's my point

Systom
I already had an FTW and I got rid of the FTW because there's still no ETA for the kit, could be a month or two, and then having to deal with trying to get one on the first wave, if you're willing to wait THAT long, you'd might as well just wait for the 1080ti or whatever is coming next--not to mention paying more overall.

The wait is getting waaaaaaaay too long for this cards release, I DEEPLY regret not buying gigabyte's waterforce the multiple times I had the chance just because of my loyalty to EVGA, DEEPLY after this error nonsense.

I feel your pain, I really do.  All of us posting here really wanted the best EVGA has to offer.  When patience runs out, then you grab the next best thing.  2 month of trying to grab the next best thing was the same story being told over and over.  30 come in at X, gone in seconds.  Then wait 2-3 weeks, another 10-20 come in, gone in seconds.  Sign up for email notify, what a joke.  By the time you read the email, another 30 was gone hours ago.  This process didnt happen one time, or 2, but watching availability daily for 2 months wears on you.  I gave in, but very glad of my decision other than a "EVGA".

Dont let the frustration get to you on the EVGA Hybrid.  I see another 2,000 lurkers at my post that have not signed into EVGA today. EVGA will not have exceptions to the few that signed in here, you have 50X waiting outside this forum.  IF EVGA is just now having a few available, you know they didnt build up any supply at all.  Same story for all these new card.  Get a few in, gone in seconds.

You have 3 choices:  1-track it daily and hope you get lucky. 2-wait another month, maybe supply will be better. 3-screw it, grab something else you like.

I feel your pain, it hurt me for over 2 months!!  I hope you are one of the lucky few :)

Believe me, this will be hit and miss for many days to come, weeks, or even months.

Re: EVGA 1080 Hybrid? 2016/08/09 03:22:27 (permalink)
So, here's my conspiracy theory (though it doesn't involve super international spies with cats and what not):

1) Late June/early July:  Nvidia orders TSMC (in Taiwan) to halt all manufacturing of GTX1070 and GTX1080 cards in late June-early July and to begin reconfiguration of assemble for the Titan X product
2) Early July:  TSMC complies, all GTX1070 and GTX1080 production is halted and reconfiguration of the assemble lines for the Titan X begins
3) Early August:  TSMC meets the initial quota for Titan X production and halts production, begins reconfiguring assemble lines to begin producing GTX1070 and GTX1080 cards again
4) Mid August:  TSMC completes reconfiguration of assemble process and GTX1070 and GTX1080 cards begin to ship from Taiwan to worldwide retailers
5) Late August:  GTX1070 and GTX1080 stock begin to slowly trickle in
6) Early to Mid September:  GTX1070 and GTX1080 "in-stock" status becomes more frequent as consumer sales begin to fall as demand is met (finally)

So, based upon my best two cents from my half empty piggy bank, we have the Titan X to thank for the scarce supply of GTX1070 and GTX1080 cards (though the GTX1070 isn't in as much demand as the GTX1080)
