I have to set a hard cutoff for waiting for this unicorn. The end of next week is it -- if there aren't EVGA Hybrids available to purchase on 08/12, I'm going for the 1080 Seahawk. I've held out as long as I possibly could at this point.

I really don't understand you... You should wait only one month. This is funny how some people are impatient.
I would never bought some thing only because I hurry instead something what I planned except if something bad happen and first option.
No matter on product, TV, card, graphic card, gun, compound bow, skate board, cell phones, ... nothing.
If I see something and choose that few days mean nothing to me. Sea Hawk is launched earlier because reference boards only different BIOS...
You should bought EVGA GTX1080 SC and Hybrid and it's same... For first custom card EVGA launched FTW, and Classified/Hybrid as second wave.

Without boring everyone with the details, I have my reasons for needing a quiet/cool GPU. Let's just say that air-cooled is not preferred in my particular scenario. I could have purchased the 1080 Seahawk at least three times now, and every time I said to myself, "No, it's only a little longer for the EVGA." Well, like many others here, that time has come and gone. The Hybrid has the extra power connector (not useful at this time) and will be ~$40 cheaper than the Seahawk, but that's it. The clocks will be the same. I love EVGA products and their support, but my patience has expired.

They are delayed because EVGA is making improvements to the shroud.

OC results will depend from luck, temps will be probably in range 50-65C depend of game, fan speed, resolution, ambient temps.
Now is summer and usually over summer temps of hardware are 3-7C higher.
Seahawk is nice card but not fit in my interior.
Actually Hybrid is closest to my imaginary plan even from period when I planned black motherboard.

I'll probably just go with a 1080 Classy and put a water block on it.

65*c would be horrible for a watercooled GPU. i don't even get that high on my air cooled GPU.

why wouldn't the Seahawk fit? isn't the Hybrid even bigger than it?

there are currently some Seahawks available on Newegg. i'm so tempted to grab a watercooled 1080 just to check it out.

Your air heat sounds bizarre to me, nowhere have I ever seen air heat being that low.
Where do you live, in the snow? After OCing a 1080 strix, under either test loads from Valley or actual gaming (Witcher3) 70% fan, the highest I've seen it go is 75C, average maybe 70-72C, which pretty much aligned with every other review I've seen. I've tested this in two different cases, one case being Corsair 450D with Noctua fans throughout (x2 140MM, X6 120MM, all around the case for proper intake/exhaust, as well as an InWin case that supposedly has "restricted" airflow of which I saw a marginal of error difference using all Gentle Typhoon fans--so it's not necessarily anything to do with "good airflow" besides the basics of good performance fans and good pressure.)

The highest I've seen an AIO GPU go, coming from the 980ti hybrid at OC was 65C, average 60C.
Are you sure your card is being 100% utilized?

Probably normal as Microsoft currently offers 369.09 whereas the Nvidia site only offers 368.81. So Microsoft-drivers currently are newer - you shouldn't worry until Nvidia releases a new version on their website ;)

nVidia 369.05 is the Titan X specific driver. It won't work with the 1080; 368.81 is the latest driver for the 1080 if I'm not mistaken. Also Trilegdog is sorta correct, the 1607 is the latest version for Windows 10 (Anniversary Update), build should be 14393.10

I wasn't talking about 369.05 (which is available at Nvidias site for Titan X), I was talking about 369.09 (which is only available via Windows update) that is being reported to improve the performance of 1080s 1070s. http://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2527312

Oh, yes, I meant 368.81 not 368.89 xD Edited to avoid any more confusion xD

Re: EVGA 1080 Hybrid? 2016/08/06 10:45:26 (permalink)
The driver version installed by Microsoft is listed as 21.21.13.6909; I'm not sure if I would assume that is "369.09". It could be, I just haven't really looked into the versioning of drivers nVidia provides to Microsoft for WHQL and how those correlate to their internal file versioning. Looking at mine now it looks like 10.18.13.6881 is the internal file versioning for ForceWare 368.81 so that does seem reasonable to assume that nVidia has provided Microsoft a new driver for WHQL certification and Microsoft has validated it and added it into their WHQL Driver server for Windows Update but nVidia just hasn't released it yet.

I'd imagine we will see it available shortly on GeForce.com

Microsoft installed drivers are never any good. They only enable basic functionality. That's why you should always install the Intel and Nvidia drivers from their respective websites or you motherboard vendors website. They are always far superior to the ones supplied over Windows Update or the Windows Image.

Are you sure your card is being 100% utilized?

i live in Texas. that should tell u all u need to know about the weather. i keep the AC at 75*F inside my house.

my FE 1080 also ran alot cooler than what most people were reporting. i studied long and hard before i went with my NZXT Switch 810 case because i wanted a fairly quiet system that cooled very well. i'm pretty sure that i can get even lower temps if i turned my case fans up more.

............... Also Trilegdog is sorta correct, the 1607 is the latest version for Windows 10 (Anniversary Update), build should be 14393.10

I gave up on the hybrid for a little while now, and am enjoying my ftw but not so much with the noise when its at load. I cant believe evga still hasn't released the hybrid. I hope when its finally out they have a drawing on this forums for a free one to all who waited so long just to go somewhere else or a different card.

I guess ill be waiting on the kit to release. yippy *soon-tm*

I had an FTW and was going to wait for the kit but since zero ETA, I said never mind and got rid of the FTW. I'm either going to get the Hybrid FTW or Gigabyte's Waterforce, whatever gets in my hands first.

Can we please get an update on the 1080 Hybrid? Much appreciated in advance Jacob. :)

Jacob stated earlier here that both 1080/1070 Hybrid would be about the same time. Today this tweet

@EVGA_JacobF Any idea when the 1070 hybrid will be available for purchase?

My build is also waiting for the hybrid-kit... But only for the looks of it and because I want that 50-100 extra MHz that come with lower temperatures, I start to slightly hear the card at 69% and set it up that it never passes 71% :> Got time until Christmas, my wallet needs to cool down a bit for now xD We should be able to get a hybrid kit by than, even here in Europe xD
