Funny enough, it's gotten bad enough in other hobbies, like limited edition sneakers, that normal people regularly use bots just to buy single sets for themselves with no intention of reselling and have to come to accept it as the norm.

Newegg said "orders were human" sure, humans using bots. What, did the bots decide to join forces and buy all 3080's without being instructed to? No. Bad humans using bots. I guess that's how you can say it's not bots. I don't like this alternative timeline we are in.

I am Human and I bought two RTX 3080 and could have bought more for sure. Not EVGA card but check out my invoice time of when I bought this card, there are trickling in at all times

I bought MSI Trio 3080 on Amazon Canada and one card Zotac 3080 on Newegg Canada. The Invoice is for 14:31 and you can interpret the Newegg Canada invoice anyway you want. I know for sure you can not read how an invoice works.SAD throwing shade on the internet ,without a idea on how to read said invoice.

I just went to each website Amazon Canada in the morning and bought a 3080 and Newegg Canada in the evening and bought 3080 card without any drama.

I checked all the BestBuy locations within a 100 mile radius (3) of where I live, not one store had the 3080 on the day of launch and they are not going to get any this week either. It was very disappointing to find out the stores never got any inventory for the launch and they were not allowed to tell the customers this information either.

I was unable to get one.. and at this point I am suspecting its not going to get easier... It was hard enough finding a 2070 Super back in May/June when i built my last rig.  There has to be a better process... its discouraging.

I did as well but my order doesn't have an estimated ship date and is making me nervous it will get cancelled or not ship in weeks...At this point I will keep looking for another card until I have confirmation it will hold and ship relatively soon.

I came close today towards not only getting an RTX 3080 but the one I actually wanted (eVGA RTX 3080 XC3 Ultra from Amazon).  I saw it came in stock at 10:34am Pacific.  I added it to cart, got through to confirming order and......(dramatic effect) nope!  Sold out!  As Maxwell Smart Agent 86 on Get Smart once said, "Missed it...by that much."  At least the listing was up for 3-4 minutes instead of 3-4 seconds!  I'll keep trying with Amazon, eVGA and Best Buy (the 3 retailers currently selling the eVGA RTX 3080 XC3 Ultra) but I'm not going to take it as seriously at all anymore.  I came up with some ideas to help any of these stores keep BounceAlerts and the like out I would've liked to share but...being that BounceAlerts' bot (and other bot companies bots) can buy inventory without even visiting the page whatsoever?  There's no point in sharing any of it now.  We're at their mercy I'm afraid.  Out!

I want an EVGA model over any other but you cant be picky right now with the way things are. Just 10 minutes ago on Newegg, MSI 3080 was available. Got it into the cart, tried signing in to checkout but the site kept crashing, saying it was a problem on their end. Of course, after refreshing for 1 minute, the item was SOLD OUT.

Re: Did anyone manage to get a 3080? 2020/09/22 23:26:37 (permalink)
Well Mothman2333, the MSI RTX 3080 Ventus III OC is my 2nd choice if I can't get the eVGA RTX 3080 XC3 Ultra. The Gaming X Trio is a great card but it's over 12" long. Might be too big of size for my case based on the length and how I have my cable management set in my Phanteks Eclipse P400A. I think I'll take this search for the 3080 more seriously starting on December 7th. As it has been said in many military movies of my past that I will say about the 3080 at this moment, "The LZ is too hot right now!"

What I mean by that is this: card scalpers are going to keep coming for all RTX 3080's until the Amazons and Neweggs and Best Buys and B&Hs and eVGA's and the like say with one clear voice: "Inventory of the RTX 3080 is no longer 'scarce'.  It is of nominal or optimal stock."  What I mean there is as long as everyone knows 3080 stock is "scarce", the profit margins will remain very high on the 3rd party market which will keep the card scalpers coming to call.  Once stock is considered "nominal" or "optimal" in volume profit margins will plummet significantly and quickly.  Then and only then will they stop.

One more thing to add about the Amazon bit today: those cards won't ship until early October if my photographic memory is correct so I look at it this way, if they don't cancel orders placed today by the end of week?  You're getting the card.  Thanks.  Out!

P.S. LZ = Landing Zone.

all I can say is if this is the same with the 3090s (and it will be), I'll be making sure eVGA knows my displeasure.

It will be, EVGA could care less about your displeasure, they love scalpers who use bots to buy their products willy nilly 40x at a time because:

1. It lets them off the hook warranty wise. When you buy this card from ebay, unless the seller spent the time registering each and everyone on EVGA website, there is no transferable warranty.

2. When the scalpers with bots buy these cards willy nilly 40x at a time no 5% discount associate code is applied.

Jacob and The Scarlet One and other mods and staff of EVGA can come on here and dispense niceties about how they "care" about the "community" and this and that but at the end of the day they are a corporation and truly don't give a (removed) about you. All they care about is money, and more of it. If they participate in the destruction of Nvidia's reputation right before the launch of Big Navi, they don't care. Bear in mind that EVGA have no AMD products.

This is hubris and short-sightedness at it's finest.

Go have a look at the sentiment on at Nvidia twitter, every other comment amounts to "(removed) Nvidia, I will wait for Big Navi in Nov"

But hey, they sure made a lot of money really fast!

The Corporation

edited by Cool GTX language removed

By comparing these 2 ignorant points to the benefit of a new life time customer for every and each of those 40x cards in every scalper's hands, you could easily notice you are an idiot, that is if you weren't an idiot. So I am going to explain to you that yes corporations care about money and they don't care about your feelings, that is unless they, like EVGA, notice the opportunity to stand out and gain hundreds of thousands of new customers by reacting to this situation once NVIDIA really send a great number of chips, which by caution NVIDIA did not, they want to do this right before AMD comes out with their video card, to overshadow the competency. You could easily understand this, if you notice haven't they xN0Tx done this AMD could take all their customers if they actually do better against scalpers, and even get away with a higher price tag than NVIDIA cards even if their cards are less powerful though over 2080ti performance, literally stealing an entire generation of customers.

And the sweet thing about that is AMD could even **** up their future scalpers customers as well since these 3080s in the hand of the actual scalpers would probably start having problems to sell.

Got one a delivered a week ago, randomly been refreshing  Newegg and clicked through the checkout so damn fast. Just got lucky at the right time *shrug*. Got a FTW3 3080 and it performs as advertised, only crashing during overclocking, runs perfectly fine at stock speeds.

At least here in Canada the same guys scalping sneakers are now retail botting. You can see bot sellers like Ominous posting how many GPUs they've gotten from Best Buy etc and it seriously pisses me off
