I managed to get in line for the step up 3080, did anyone have bad luck with that? I want to know to see if I could risk getting out of queue for the 3090 when that releases next week, that is my actual target.

Your only risk for step up, assuming your 90 day window doesn't expire, is that you go to the back of the line for your chosen step up card if you leave your current 3080 step up for a 3090 step up. Think of it as a guaranteed pre-order where you can queue up - all you have to do is wait your turn once you secure your spot in that line.

I get we are all mad over the bots. However, I don't think its healthy to keep naming which bot was used and give them all this crazy attention. Don't give press to the bad guys. Hell, they got an INSANE amount of free advertisement from that one well known site for doing that article/writeup about them.

A LOT of the items now are 'buy it now' for 15-2000 now instead of auctions. Scalpers learn fast. If you look at the seller histories, I found most of them basically are what we thought they were, scalpers. I don't think I found 1 seller who had a legitimate ebay history of normal usage.

Pre Orders are NOT bot proof. The bots will still bot out the PreOrders. I don't know why people have this misconception that PreOrders somehow magically do not get botted? I'm a collector and it's constant plague on anything Collector's Edition or of a limited nature or high demand. PreOrders have never, ever stopped bots. I think there are a bunch of newbs to this game that have no idea what this can be like... Anyone that has ridden this rodeo is completely unsurprised by this. Perhaps all this additional outrage to the existing, but fatigued, outrage will help retailers realize they need to do something different. This is NOT a new problem. This has been happening for years.

Sadly no. 4 times in the cart, every time i got to the checkout and paypal step, the site crashed and in the end it was sold out. iam pretty pissed about those bump alert suckers and all those bots and scalpers.

Yes, and no. You really shouldn't compare a finite source (collector stuff) to a normal SKU. I would imagine EVGA/NVIDEA do plan on producing more of these cards over time. Collectors editions have strict finite number. Normal SKU's, well, could sell for several years before running out (one would imagine anyway). Of course there are production issues and supply chain issues at play here, but in reality those too can be accounted for with pre-ordering (nice to know exactly how many you need in the next 6 months or so). If done correctly, pre-orders would indeed cut out the silly ebay thing. Won't happen in today's world of course. But in reality, it would help the average consumer obtain product w/o this circus.

They said they manually vet each order. My best guess is they are canceling those orders and just putting them for stock on wave 2.

What I don't get, since these aren't a limited product or anything, just let everyone who wants one, order one. then fulfill them when you can.
This 1000x, open up the pre-orders for heaven's sake!! I'll take a pre-order even if I was told that I wouldn't get it for 2 or 3 months. Just knowing that I would have something on the way is sooo much better than anxiously waiting for "more stock"

As a consumer, we have the ability to stop this... We have to not purchase a card at the higher rate, period. Make those that try and take advantage take a hit and force them to sell at MSRP. If people buy them for the higher rate, it hurts everyone in the market and the standard price will go up.
