Going to be hot here after tomorrow, in the 90s for not very good crunching weather.
I really wanted to go all out for the PG challenge, maybe overnight when it is cooler out.

Feel for you with temps.. am up to 32'c, 90F in my workshop once again..
Running 109 CPU cores, and 13 GPU's....Yep.... it is hot in here.....

Ready to bring in our big portable cooler to help reduce temps into my workshop, that normally cools the whole house through the summer. Will see tomorrow if I need to.....

Running BOINC on the GTX980Ti and the CPUs, so far so good.
Temps are in range and seem ok.
Will be slowly upping the O/C and see how it goes.

Yeah Seti on both GPU and CPU. Going to cut back some tomorrow if we can not advance as long as we do not fall back.

I still have to flash the BIOS, going back to one 3 older than the newest.
It gets rid of a stupid password protected BIOS tweaker.
I can not find the password anywhere. The older BIOS works real good and is stable for the CPUs and mem I use.

Here comes the Judge, here comes the Judge wow 495 feet home run, went past the bleachers in the upper deck.
I have a feeling he will be the first to hit a home run out of the ball park.
Love or hate the Yankees, Judge is fun to watch and seems like such a nice, polite, humble young man.

Quiet in here right now. The A/C shut down woohoo.

Going to be warm tomorrow then after that should be nice for a few days.
Time to get some yard work done and get the Mustang out for a cruise in and get some seat time in.

So I was trimming my stach and made an ooops. So I decide to shave it off.
I shave it off once every 5 years or so. Figured it was time, it looked real bad.
Now I have lip burn, I remember why I hate shaving.
Save a lot of money on razors and shaving cream too!

Someone is using his name with this Avatar I know our Bill is not Paranoid.
Or maybe it could be Bill With an Iron Fist

Still I liked the Old Avatar.

Hahaha I'll most likely change it back at some point. Just wanted a change.
Just watched a documentary on the making of the Paranoid album.
It one in their own way are, in my opinion the best at what they do.
Gezzer on the bass, there is no other bass player that attacks the strings of a bass like he does.
Bill W on the drums, he is an animal banging them drums
Bill along with Gezzer are a driving force, the time signature changes, all of them playing, singing those riffs together, just wow.
Tony on the guitar, the riff master if there ever was one.
Last but not least Ozzy, a voice that can sound sinister, to soft and sweet depending on the song.
They changed music forever, singing about life as they saw it in the 60s and 70s. War, destruction, kids in Nam doing drugs, fear, pain, gangs. heavy stuff for sure.
Everyone else was singing bright happy pop tunes on the radio, and here come something totally different, critics hated them, parents, priests and nuns hated them.
The more they hated them the more we loved them!!
I was 10 in 70 when my best bud cam running down the street with a Sabbath album yelling " You got to heat this, you got to hear this"
I've not been the same since, every time I get in the Mustang I have to play some Sabbath, just have to. My daughter has a "dads play list" for in the car. half is Ozzy!
I bought an all black Tomy Iommi  SG guitar, with inlaid crosses with hot Humbucker pickups to reproduce that sound.
Love em, hate em, there is no other like em.

Re: Crunching Team general open ended discussions 2017/07/11 16:05:32 (permalink)
It's been a while since I've actually done anything other than minor crunching now and again, especially since I'm involved in making 3D printers for myself. The last few days I've returned to my roots.  WCG to be exact, mind you it's older technology doing this, an X79 Dark and the old 4 core, 4 hyper threading 3.6ghz cpu.

But it feels good and I'm looking at the new X299 with an 18 core and 18 hyper thread processor in the near (when released) future. (Okay a year maybe.) And I'm looking at the 1080's to pass my poor old 980's along to family members. (In other words, one last upgrade before I return to mother earth in the next 10-100 years.)  I haven't outlived the speed of what I have now and it does more than I need for games, art etc. It's just that fever.

I'm sure you all know what I mean. Man, my last build, EVGA DG-87 case, X299 Dark, 32 gigs of RAM, SSD's and more importantly new video cards. (Yeah know I love playing Doom 1 on this machine! )

Maybe I'll reclaim my upper 50 standings in Boinc Stats... maybe not. But I'm going to give it hell. A big fat (and I mean bloated) pay raise means I can really make an impact... on my WALLET! Crunch on!
