$20.

I had almost 200 evga bucks so I figured "what the heck" and went for it.

In other news, the thing is a beast at DC projects and I can now hang with you 1080 guys!
Almost hits 2Ghz on boost at stock FTW settings.

No matter what color it is I am sure it will do very well crunching and folding.
Good luck with it.

I kinda miss the teal color originally posted on the elite page and still shown on the product page. But the true blue is still nice enough, though I'll deserve judgement until I receive it. Mine will also face down in my dg87 case. It also might wind up underwater if they release an FTW3 hybrid kit.

Nope no pizza and wings, bummer.

Bunkering away a few tasks for the sprint.

Why would someone complain about a thread. If they do not like the thread, stay the hell out.

OC'ed to the pretty standard limit of about 2060MHz no problem.
Using the individual fan control, this card easily stays cooler than any other GPU I've owned while staying quiet.
(GPU fan speeds up but others can stay at lower RPM)
In the 50s C, mid 60s at the highest (it was warm in here today) at max OC.

Ran folding a bit at ~1.2M ppd which was nice, now it's blasting through some MilkyWay.
Haven't even played a game on the thing yet.

The color saga continues, but at least EVGA updated the product photos.

1.2 million PPD, dang, I bet it took me a year or more to get my first million points LoL.
Just a couple years ago would had to spent 5 thousand on quad Intel e5-4650 octo cores (used) doing bigadv to get 1mil PPD
Should do well on GPUgrid too.

Just a couple of years ago, pair of 980ti for 1 million PPD and change.

CPU folding is SO .... 20xx's?

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.

2014, 2015.
Right before the 980ti came out, GPUs were not paying all that well and CPUs bigadv were the way to go to get huge PPD
Maybe my couple should of been a few, but you get the point.

Trying my best to promote DC projects in unique ways.
I play a lot of iRacing (sim racing video game).
We are hosting a charity race where each driver donates to a cause as the entry fee.
My plan is to donate to GPUGRID and run it and F@H on my spare hardware while racing on my main PC.
The charities/causes supported by the drivers get advertised in the forums.  ( I would link but you have to be a member of iRacing to see it.)

From the forums:

SUMMER CLASSIC
Season 2 Week13 will be the first "Summer Classic" race for charity
This event will see the Audi 90GTO, Lotus 49, Lotus 79 and Nissan GTP ZX-T compete in a multi class race.

The entry fee for this race is a donation to a charity of your choice, however much or little you can afford it makes a difference.

Causes being supported so far..

Cancer Research UK  www.cancerresearchuk.org/
CALM https://www.thecalmzone.net/
WWF (World Wildlife Foundation - Tiger project) https://www.worldwildlife.org/
Slaka djurhem (Local animal shelter, mainly for cats).
GPUGRID http://www.gpugrid.net/science.php
 Folding@home http://folding.stanford.edu/

Thought I'd share here since it's more about crunching than gaming...

He has been sick for a while, I was watching something the other night with him, Derrick Trucks and Warren Haynes.
Greg has to keep seated and did not look so well.
I got to see the Allman Brothers back in the late 70s, they did a small open air concert for the city I grew up in 250th year celebration.
Whipping post is one of my all time favorites, My daughters are Melissa and Jessica.

Well now I'm bummed out.
The first concert I went to at Madison Square Garden in 73. Also at Watkins Glen and another at MSG.

He straightened out for a while when he married Cher.

Live at the Filmore East is still a great listen. Derrick Trucks, Warren Haynes  and Susan Tedeschi carry it on almost 50 years later.

bummed

I taped a few of Eric Claptons guitar fests and they are on just about everyone of them.
They played in Poughkeepsie NY right next to the Hudson River, it was a fantastic show they did.
It was a free event too. Glad I went.
That's what we did when we were kids in the 70's, no video games, cell phones, facebook.
We went outside and played sports, went fishing and hunting and went to concerts.

The GTX1080 came Wednesday, just got done installing now.
Running Setti doing 2 tasks at once.
it boosted to 1984, I added a little more and it is sitting at 2000 stock voltage 1065, 55c temp
It is on air in a closed case fans at 70%

GTX1080 FTW B-stock, very clean card, I bet it was sent in for a thermal pad update.
Can't see a thing wrong with it.

I wasn't a big Allman Brothers fan, but I did like a few of their songs - Whipping Post in particular.

Which Lotus model came to Indy in 1963 or '64 (whichever was the first year a rear-engine car ran there)?
That ... I think it's the 49 ... looks a lot like that car or one of  it's close decendents that got built specifically for Indy through the rest of the 1960s.

Try to keep on the topic of the thread. It seems like it has got a little derailed with talk of music. While sad news we need to remain on topic for the thread.

My guess is that some non-cruncher complained that it wasn't fair for us to have an off-topic discussion thread.  Thus, anything that's not crunching-related is going to get flagged.  I can't figure out why else rjohnson11 would have edited the first 47 posts in the thread.

As an original crunching team member I want this thread to be left alone and invite all that have a problem with it to post their objections, and then we can discuss the future of it. If the community decides to kill it,  I will go along and then make decisions moving forward.
My opinion is that bill started this in the spirit opening communication among fellow crunchers to talk about things other than crunching. Please post your objections to this thread with an avatar and name. (Mods included). Let's get it out in the open.

So one person complains we all have to bow down to them?
Maybe that person needs to go find a safe space to go cower in.
Maybe it is time we crunchergs get our own website so we don't have this agravation
