Just to put my experience down. I've been dealing with this issue for months. Got my 2nd card via RMA a month ago. Same thing, tried everything I could to try and isolate the issue. Thought, it can't be the GPU at this point. Last night, after receiving new parts, I built an entirely new computer, besides the 3080. Nothing is common with old PC. Less than 2 hours run time exact same issue. It seems to get worse and worse as well the more it happens. Same nvlddmkd Error viewed in Event Viewer. Talked with EVGA customer support, we're trying a third card. At this point I don't have a functioning PC. EVGA can't offer anything beyond a sorry a try a new card. I asked if they're working with Nvidia to get this pinned down. To me it just has to be a driver issue. The guy didn't really know. Unless I've (we've) been extremely unlucky with bad cards, this issue doesn't seem to have a resolution in sight. I will say its nice to see a good community, not only on EVGA's site. I've tried everything people have suggested across many forums. People are definitely putting in the time to try and fix this, not just relying on customer support. Think what we all want is just some sort of high level recognition from Nvidia/EVGA, that yes this is a driver or something else issue and they're working to resolve it. At this time, I've basically given up with the 3080. I'm hoping after resetting everything, the 1080TI I have will work again. Before when I tried putting it back in (older PC) it was having issues. But that could just be residual effects from driver getting messed up from 3080 or something. I'll update if the third card works, but I don't have a hope with that. Thanks for all the suggestions here, cheers to everyone, and hope your screens stay bright!

So I followed benattar's advice and disabled lighting service + deleting the folder. "https://forums.evga.com/RTX-30803090-Black-screen-possible-solution-m3137072-p9.aspx" So far no black screens (4 hours). will update

I will try that next I did delete the Precision X but I still have Armory crate which controls the rest of the computer. The last thing I did was cable rotation

after 6 hours just got my 1st black screen, had to hard reboot. going to try and stop all asus background services. see if that helps. edit: I forgot to mention, I thought it may have been my Seasonic prime px-850 that was the issue. So I bought a Corsair Hx-1000 to test but still the same, random black screens.

if this issue is also the same one involving Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding; the only solution I found was to disable hardware accelatio non any software you have open like chrome and vlc. percision X1 also needs to be closed (system tray is fine).

Hi eveyone, I have : GPU: EVGA 3080 FTW3 ULTRA CPU: i9-10900KF Motherboard: ASUS PRIME Z490-V RAM: 3000, xmp PSU: Corsair 850 Operating System & Version: Windows 10 home, up to date GPU Drivers: 465.89 game ready drivers Screen : HDMI 2.1 connection to TV, 4k 120Hz setup When I first power on the system, bios flash screen shows up then signal is lost. If I wait long enough I get black screen and nothing to do but reset. If I reset after with the reset button when it's power on, second time and subsequent resets it works. But every time first bootup (power on sequence) is not sending correct signal and ends up with black screen. This started to happen after I did update Bios, GPU Bios and Nvdia drivers for ReBAR support.

Hi
I have this issue every time I use display port or HDMI. Sometimes when I start a game the monitor disconnects and sometimes when I start the pc I don’t get any signal. I’ve tried everything from DDU to factory resetting my pc reinstalling all drivers. I have an ftw3 3080 ultra and Corsair sf750 psu. Should I rma my card?

Have a 3080 FTW card that was working just fine for a couple of months. Then I moved my tower, and when booting back I forgot to plug in all 3 PCIe cables back into the GPU. When booting, there wasn't a red light on the GPU itself, and instead just nothing happened on the boot up. I powered down, plugged into the 3rd PCIe cable, and now can't get my card to output a signal to the monitor. I have confirmed this is a GPU problem, as I have tried the card in two different towers with multiple monitors and multiple cables. Also, I have tried a different GPU in each tower, and it works just fine, so I am nearly certain it's the 3080 causing the issues. When I boot up the 3080, the GPU LEDs turn on, and the fans spin just fine, but the card is just not detected on the Motherboard. (There is a red light on the MB indicating that bad hardware is installed, and I removed my ram and put it back in trying to fix this, but the red light persists, so I am pretty sure it's the GPU causing it.) I have tried multiple PCIe slots, have tried a cmos reset on the motherboard, and uninstalling/reinstalling nvidia drivers. Nothing works to get this card to output a signal through either HDMI or DP. Does anyone have any recommendations of other things I could try to attempt to get the card working again and output a display to my monitor(s)? Thanks

Update on my issue with the RTX 3070. I encountered a signal drop again after turning the display off for a bit then back on, but the issue went away after plugging into another display and using DDU to uninstall drivers, then reinstalling. I think this simply reset the settings for the display having the issue. My display that would lose the signal is an LG OLED C9. I replaced the HDMI cable thinking the cable was having the issue, but I saw the new cable lose signal once as well. I've been running 2560x1440@120Hz with 4:4:4 chroma. The TV does not allow these settings unless Deep Color (HDR) mode is enabled on the HDMI port. So the next time I lost the signal I disabled Deep Color, signal came back (but not allowing my settings), then I re-enabled Deep Color and got back the signal with my settings. Signal loss is very rare now (only one time) with the new cable, but I think just toggling that setting on the TV on/off should get the signal back if it happens again. Still not entirely sure, but it seems it could be my TV being flaky or the HDMI cable. At least I didn't have to uninstall/re-install drivers last time the signal was lost. I just toggled that Deep Color setting and waited for the TV to restart which is mildly annoying, but far less hassle than switching to another display and re-installing drivers just to get the signal back. The previous HDMI cable was doing it more often. It's not entirely resolved, but it's very rarely happening now.

It definitely fixed the issue for me on the one system that was having this issue with my 3080. My other one with the 3070 luckily was unaffected.

Got a brand new FTW Ultra Gaming 3090 today. Was 10 minutes old when it stopped working. Didn't even get to do anything. Installed drivers and changed colors. Restarted PC and poof. No post. No signal to monitors. Motherboard error 97. Old video card works just fine. $2,000 and I didn't even make it past driver installation. Waiting on a response to my ticket. I'm really nervous about my EVGA card now. Hope they make this right.

atsuhiko Hi guys, I'm having the same trouble so far. I've updated my ASUS bios, my GPU firmware and downloaded the latest NVIDIA patch even though i'm having black screens. According to me, these crashes happen due to high frequence demand for GPU clock and memory clock. But, since i've put my GPU into "Boost Lock" in the X1 EVGA software I haven't got any crashes because the clock is maintained at the hight clock as it could be for benchmarking. I've not noticed any GPU temperature trouble, would it damage the GPU if i continue doing so ? Because i've not find any better solution yet. Thanks guys
Oh man nooooo! I sold my RX 5600 xt last year because I had black screen bug I could not get rid off. Dont tell me 3000 series has same issue..... :/

I ran into an issue with the Windows 10 update last month in which it installed fine, and after rebooting, the Windows splash screen was just black with a mouse arrow and a spinning wheel above it. I had to reboot several times just to get into the system recovery mode and perform a system restore from the day before. I thought that maybe the Windows Update somehow messed up my video drivers but now that everything is working, I am not sure what the issue was.

I've been trying to score the same exact EVGA 3090 card for several months now, but I keep seeing more and more issues with 3090 cards across all manufacturers, so now I'm not sure if it's worth continuing to pursue it or if I should go with a lower model such as a 3070 or 3060 since the 3080's are extremely hard to find.

Same here. It seems like the more technology advances and gets "better", the more possibilities there are for things to go wrong.

I am getting black screens randomly while gaming on my 3070. Lasts a couple seconds and not really predictable. Only on the screen I game on. I am on a DP connection and not limited to a single game. Driving me nuts. Doesn't always happen.
