I recently installed the standalone Hybrid kit on a Founder's Edition. I'm curious what kind of temps you guys are seeing.

Got the kit for my 1070, yet to install it. Quick question.. does the pump run at full speed all the time, regardless of fan speed?

thanks

I don't think so. I've only been able to notice the blower fan getting faster when I adjust the speed in Afterburner. The pump is so quiet I can't tell if it speeds up.

There are only 2 wires going to the pump (+12v & Neg) so I assume that its only 1 speed. I have an adaptor I could use to run the pump at full speed from my PSU if necessary however.

Did you have that FE in before you put the closed loop in? I'm just wondering how much more quite that setup is. My FE's are loud under load and I haven't decided what I'm going to do about it.

Yes. The difference is huge. To give you an idea. Listen to your cards fan while idle. That is about as loud as it gets under load. Cause the fans dont need to go higher than 30-40% speed.

Can we use EVGA's 980 Hybrid AIOs on these cards? Or do we need to upgrade to the 1070/1080 Hybrid AIO? Is there a difference?

The pump is indeed going at a constant speed. only the fan is working at variable speeds.

Yes. Just the AIO. As you can see in the picture above. I talked about it in the thread below.

Mine will be here Tuesday I plan to do a full rundown on temp improvements my current setup with the reference cooler I really never go over 70° c even after hours of intensive gaming, rise of the tomb raider, doom, crysis 3. That's with a custom fan curve 60°=60%,70°=70,etc. However synthetic benchmarks can get it hotter and it pretty loud. My hopes are to drop the temp and be able to lower fan. Finally put a overclock on this thing and see if I can't game for a few hours without throttling

The included 120mm radiator fan is extremely loud. I replaced it with a 1300 rpm Noctua. Temps are equivalent.

Put them on my 1080 sli set up and they never push much past 50 under load really. Was sitting at 69 under load before with custom fan profile on a 2000+ mhz oc. Had FE's and it was like a jet engine behind my computer before, now it is like a dream and I'm not thinking so hard on improving the air-conditioning to my room as it was getting so hot in there.

It looks like my temps maybe a little high. I'm still happy with 63C at load but you guys are certainly seeing lower temps than I am. I'm thinking about slapping a EK Vardar fan on the radiator. Anyone have experience with those fans?

Founders Edition look very nice with Hybrid...
I would not keep reference cooler more than one week if Hybrid kit give 20-25C lower temps.

I was actually impressed with the FE cooler. If you are not concerned with noise then the thermal chamber cooler of the FE is pretty damn good. Obviously, you'll want a custom fan curve. It would hit 83C full load with the stock curve. It was still pretty quiet but those temps are too high for me. With fans at 100% it kept the GPU around 60C when benching.

Just installed my Hybrid kit on an EVGA FE 1080.

Clock speed: 1873 stable (stock)
Power target: 120%
Idle: 30C
Load: Up to 53C but settles at 47C once the push/pull fan setup I opted for kicks in (based on CPU load)
Pump: TBD... Hearing some annoying humm coming from the pump.

Picture will come later :)
