EVGA Hybrid Cooler for GeForce GTX 980Ti Cooling 400-HY-0996-B1

Installed it on my EVGA GTX 1080 Founders Edition

For 59.99 I had to give it a try.

Before:

"Overwatch" under load with max settings was 75 celsius with a 100% fan profile during game.

After:

"Overwatch" under load with max settings NOW 55 celsius with a 0% fan profile during game.

My overclock is still in the same ball park. As it has been proven over and over the 1080 is capped around the 2100 core clock range.

Still a hell of a card. But now it is simply running at peak performance, 55 celsius or less.

All in all a great investment for those who want to hybrid their 1080s now.

Watch out, first you get hybrid cooler, next step is full custom loop. It's a slippery slope. :P

Heh. I bought two of the 980ti AIO cooler kits also. I'll run for a while on air first before I decide whether or not to install them.

You will as it is worth it. Why else did you buy them

I totally was looking at the EK kits plus the waterblocks.

I went this route first more so as a simple experiment. I am pretty sure my next build will be the entire system in a full custom loop.

Now it's available the official 1080GTX Hybrid Kit from EVGA, is there anyone using it?

Damn awesome to run GPU @ full load around 50ºC.

I've been considering returning to a custom loop, but I really want someone who is experienced
to help me do it. My first one was a mess...

was quiet and did keep things cool though.

Edit: Grats on the cooler though! Glad it's showing to help a LOT....

Only way to be experienced is keep on doing it yourself and learn from it.

I would not suggest running a 0% fan profile. The chip may be water cooled but your VRM's and memory are not so it would be a good idea to at least set it to 30%.

By Zero I mean Default Fan profile from Factory. No Longer need to hear the fan at 100% Yes it hovers around 30%

Very nice results! I will always have some type of water cooling solution, if anything because of the fan noise reduction.

Grabbing the hybrid kits for my sli this weekend. Never break 69 under load (oc'd to 2011 or something) and on OW 50's as is , but it is way loud and makes my room a little hot. Over the jet engine that is my box.

Wait, wait, wait... You used a 980 hybrid kit on your 1080 and it worked? Like all the clearances were the same?

That's a real game changer since the 1080 kits are twice the price....

Yes 980Ti to be exact. Just the cooler.... Here is what inspired me to do it. But all I did was remove the piece that the video modified. I did not want to damage the shroud in case of RMA or resale.

Just did my second GTX1080 conversion. Very easy to do EVGA GTX980Ti Hybrid cooler fits no problem.
Both are running around 26C Idle and 43C in Witcher 3 in 4K and 3440x1440 resolution.

I couldn't wait for EVGA's Hybrids. Looking at what happened with the GTX980Ti...I wanna use them now and get the next best thing when it comes out.

Cool! Didn't actually know they were out. I really like the newer shroud vs the tapered graphic one found on the 980/980Ti.

But I see the cost is twice as much and they are out of stock...plus I did my first conversion over a month ago and ordered the second AIO right after.

None the less, very happy with the conversion, can still see the GEFORCE GTX logo!

I did stick a Corsair fan on and noticed a 3-4C difference but a little more noisy.

It was painless to do , a friend of mine help me he had it torn down and rebuilt in a couple of hours .
at least now there is a solution for anyone with high temperatures problems and throttling .

This was actually my first time stripping a GPU and as long as you have the correct tools and take your time it's easy.
Those 4mm hex screws were a PITA to find a tool for but I found one in the end.
