Is there any beta BIOS with better Adie support I can test?

Thanks

How high are you trying to run your RAM? Is it not stable for you?

8400 boots and 8200 Y-cruncher. Dark doesn't have proper ram vddq training, probably just stock Intel MRC tuning. Max stability is around 7400-7600. Also no tRCDWR timing which boost performance a lot on RPL.

Yes we still need a better BIOS.

I managed 7400 34-44-44-44-28-2T @ 1.45 VDD/1.35 VDDQ/1.35 TX/1.25 SA/1.45 VDD2. VDDQ needs to be run significantly lower than VDD similar to my last M-die kit (think it's PCB sample-specific by this point), 1T is still a nightmare for me, and it doesn't seem like more than 7400 stable is happening. Tertiaries and secondaries are about as tight as they're getting so there was definitely headroom after the data rate and primaries were set. By this point, I'm not sure if it's my IMC or if the Dark just isn't tuned for A-die (probably this). Regardless, I managed to pass HCI 800-900% twice (once after a cold boot). It's whatever. A-die is very heat sensitive and finicky, especially with these Z5 heat spreaders, so I guess the final result isn't horrendous. My friend is stuck at 6600 with M-die on a Z690 Hero and his terrible 13700KF IMC so I guess the Dark still is a great board all things considered.

Z690 DARK KINGPIN BIOS 2.03 with SK hynix A-DIE
In the BIOS, set VDD to 1.62 and check it through HWINFO, it is 1.56-1.57, and it has dropped by about 0.5-0.6. Is this normal?

Renesas PMIC, so very normal.

I’ve come to find that if one changes settings that significantly impact memory training, and then revert to a profile that was previously stable, training will not be proper and you’ll end up error’ing almost as though you had not reverted your changes. I’m not sure if this is related to me being at the limit of my board/IMC or if TX VDDQ being 1.35 for 7400 is too low (could be this), but clearing CMOS for 30s while the board still has a charge in it seems to work. Once the board auto restarts and you head back into BIOS to load your profile, training for that profile should be proper and you should be stable once again. The board has to have a charge and it has to auto boot once you leave the CMOS clear button. I’m not sure how long it has to be cleared for, but usually 30-90s works well.

No idea on the non-beta part but the 2.03 beta isn't broken for me (13900K / 7200 A-die). What isn't working for you?

Apparently they’re working on higher A-die data rate support. That will likely be the new release. No idea when it’s coming, but I’m not really getting my hopes up. I’ve begun to get the impression that EVGA have moved on, and I guess we can’t really blame them. Z790 is marketed towards RPL, so technically we’re all supposed to upgrade :/.

well 2.02 broke one of my bios with the 53,54,7F POST loop i have yet to salvage so I wont be risking another without a full release.

We really need a new BIOS for the Z690 Dark KP to better accommodate A-Die overclocking with RPL. My 7600CL36 kit has a hard time even booting with XMP at times, and I've seen a regression in GB3 memory score against both my Samsung and M-Die kits tuned at 7000CL32. The memory point difference was almost 3000 points.

I'm going to ask that builds come directly from EVGA and not via a third party source. So the URL link to that BIOs is deleted.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Although that does make sense some level of sense, please do consider another perspective. All of the Dark users on RPL have been forced to daily a beta BIOS for the last 2 or 3 weeks now, and 2.02, an official release, was bricking BIOS chips left and right. Everyone who has purchased a Z690 Dark feels like a fool because Z690 Unify-Xs and Z690 Apexs are making the Dark look stupid at this point in time. Unless the beta version of 2.04 has a similar BIOS-bricking fundamental flaw, I don't see how giving us a half-baked 2.04 would be any worse than leaving us on 2.03 with broken A-die MRC regardless - respectfully.

Bear in mind I'm not saying that all users should be allowed to post whatever they want, merely that because some users are currently successfully testing 2.04 with few complaints, there would be no logical reason for EVGA to hold it from us. It may actually be beneficial, as not all tech users own social media accounts or interact online. There are thousands of customers who have no clue that BIOS 2.04 is being tested, and many of these users may currently be looking to migrate off of the Dark out of sheer frustration. I certainly was.

I hope you find this a reasonable and coherent argument, my point is not to cause a scuffle, but merely to suggest that perhaps it's been a long enough wait. I'm sure there are many owners who are quite tired of waiting.

Can someone please release a preview BIOS 2.04? I see online where it's been released to a user on twitter and he was posting 7800 with a 32gb x2 kit. I'd really appreciate to be able to utilize my 7600 16gb x 2 a die at this point as I'm hitting a hard wall at 7400. I'd rather not wait another week tbh.

Update/Continuation of the story from

Changed the GPU: from 3090Ti Kingping -> 4090 AMP Extreme got the 53 54 7F loop even with the Corsair kit of DDR5 (this was working fine before)
Replaced Corsair KIT with the the 2 GSkill DDR5 kits mentioned in the forum post above (still looping)
Replaced the G.skill kits back with the Corsair and Replaced the 4090 with 3090Ti Kingping .. all good
Replaced the 3090 Ti Kingpin with a 3090 Ti EVGA FTW3 Ultra .. all good (with Corsair DDR5 kit)

I hope something can be done - is kind of silly just to replace the GPU and board started to act funny, also the incompatibility with gskill memory module is kind of bad also.

So are you saying the only fix for my Zotac 3090 not working is to just get a different card?
I can get my Zotac 3070 to work without issue. but with the 3090 installed i get the error 53 54 7F loop.
Is there any fix for this other than buying a different card?

i also tried Bios v2.01 (didn't help) and Bios v2.05 broke my machine and couldn't do anything and have to use the Bios switch on the board to get back to V1.04 to be able to boot back up with the 3070 in place.

Did you found a solution. I am struggling for over 2 weeks

Found that Zotac Trininty 4090 and Gskill 7800 does not works on this motherboard.

You could try to find the SA voltage sweet spot on XMP minus 200MHz and then add the speed back afterwards. Also you could try to add another 0.2 VDDQ. I had to do manual tweaks for XMP to work on two kits for my Z790. I assume Z690 is the same. https://community.hwbot.o...-evga-z790-dark-kngpn/

You’re welcome. The whole GPU swapping thing is not in your control. But your memory settings are.
