Im trying to salvage data from a wd 1.5TB myBook, I need drivers for NST-360UFS-BK 'nextstar 3 3.5" hd enclosure USB 2.0 + eSATA'. I purchased the enclosure a few years ago, and it didnt work back then on Windows 7.. Now I'm trying again with Windows 10, online it says a driver disc is included in the packaging on a mini cdROM, and I really don't remember ever seeing such a thing. Either I lost it, or really never had it to begin with. Currently without the driver update, the drive does spin up, but my computer and disk management show nothing.. The only time I can get it to make a peep is when I plug in the USB 2.0, it wants to finish installing the new device and searches for the driver, then in the Device Manager, a new device called "Initio Combo Device Class" is listed. I'm pretty sure this is incorrect. Nothing further happens after that. I still can't see the volume anywhere. I'm basically stuck until I figure out how to obtain the drivers and see if that works of not, everything I find online is flagged for malware/viruses. If anyone has these drivers, I would be most grateful. I would really prefer not to have to admit defeat and end up paying GeekSquad. There's gotta be a way. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks either way.

Why not just put the old HD in your PC ?

The Nextstar drivers are likely only needed for older versions of Windows, as in Windows XP or older.  I don't think that's what you need.

I'm thinking that you actually need the WD myBook drivers, since the software will still be installed on the HDD, provided that the HDD is still working.  More evidence of that is the "Initio Combo Device Class" device, which seems to be related to WD portable hard drives.  Try to get the drivers from WD's website, and see if that fixes it.

I'm assuming he removed the physical HDD from his old WD myBook without formatting or deleting partitions, because he wants to keep or transfer data.  His issue is more that Windows need the myBook software to properly recognize the drive, due to the way WD partitions and uses software to interact with the drive.  Whether it's in an enclosure or not, he'll still have the same problem.

the very reason i stay away from those type of external drives, they lock your data to certain hardware and software.
