This is not just an Nvidia issue. Users with multiple ATI cards in crossfire have also suffered from this.

Yeah people have not paid attention to which products this issue has happened with. Not only were those two links with ATi cards, they were also ASUS motherboards.

Which reinfisizes the fact that all motherboards had issues because they designed to meet an industrie standard, and ATI and nvidia ignored those standards , in order to push the performance standard.

ATI wanted to put out a card that was better, faster than nvidia, but could only do this by using more power to drive more performance, Nvidia not wanting to be outdone had to break the rules too.

Well at least EVGA stepped up to the plate to alleviate the issue. Has ASUS done this or are they leaving it to EVGA and their customers will have to come to EVGA to purchase the fix?

EVGA should do the same thing as they did back when the 680i came out. They offered us to pay like 80-90 dollars or something like that to jump to the next motherboard that works. That way they don't loose a lot of money and let us have a choice. IMO this would be a great option for us 759 owners.

Yes it does have the extra power connector on that board. I was referring to previous ASUS boards that do not have the extra power plug and have experienced the burned 24 pin power connector. What is ASUS doing for those board owners?

either way, evga has made good on an issue with gpu's and older motherboards. IMO ATI and NVIDIA have to push the bar higher, other wise what would be the point. no one ever said they have to meet a standard (what about AGP mother board, wheres the high end gpus for them) everything evoles and now it's the age of the motherboards. bigger and better standards have been set and IMO theres nothing wrong with that.

also the PCI-E fix can not be very big at all, think about it. if it can be used in a x1/x4 slot then that tells me it is very small and very low profile. system runnin SLI setups will probaly never even see it. I plan to put it in the x1/x4 slot in my e758, which is hidden under my 480 in the first slot and will run the cord behind the motherboard to a molex. ( you will not even know it is there.)

IMO it does not matter at this point who is doing what, so long as someone is doing something about it and they are. evga has just taken it one step further as always and provided a fix for all mothers without the molex on board. every company at this is integrating a molex or 6-pin to there new high end motherboards and IMO will ow be a standard for all companies.

It very much matter to me on who is doing the fix for everyone. It's EVGA and in my book is the best company in taking care of people. This is one of the reasons I buy their products, besides the fact they make the best products. EVGA FTW!!!

I believe EVGA said they're only making a limited supply of these things.. I wonder if we have to apply for them and it's first come first serve, or will all registered board owners get an email offer first, then first come first serve after that, or what? Also I wonder which boards they will cover? All X58 boards or what?

Thought of a simple solution without having to do the molex mod or use an adapter. This may sound crazy but would downclocking the 480's down from 700mhz to 600mhz each help prevent meltdown? Unless you own a 30" screen wouldn't it make sense to just downclock them as the power usage for each gpu should go down right?

You will never have a true x16/x16/x16 with a e759 anyway. The x58 can handle 36 PCIe lanes period. Your NF200 only allows 2 cards, in a 3-way config, to share x16 lanes and then the NF200 bridge then communicates to the x58 at x16. Maybe Sandy Bridge will have 48+ PCIe lanes for true 3-way X16.

I have the classy 3 and the USB3 and SATA3 are onboard controllers and I dont use them. I definately wouldnt go from a e759 to an e770 just for those features and I certainly wouldn't upgrade an e759 to anything that is currently available (other than a e762).

The rig I just made my brother has 3 way SLI of gtx285 OC'ed versions on a 759 mobo.

I haven't noticed it getting meltingly hot, but there is definitely warmth in the mobo power connector.. I'd love to get one of these for some peace of mind. Would hate for my gift to burn down his house O.o

EVGA is in the final stages of marketing a pci-e adapter/molex fix for this. was pushed back a bit and should be due late NOV/ eairly DEC. The fix/ whatever you like to call it is only required for those who have x58 boards, that do not have a molex already mounted onboard. (rumors where it would be free, we shall see.)

Does anyone know if it's needed with the 580's, suposadly they use less power than a 480, and have a voltage limiter, but last I heard the voltage limiter only worked when the firmware, detected certian programs like Furmark, I have two 580's due here monday for a 759. Actualy none of my boards have the molex, so I'm hopeing to get one for a 758, 759, and for a 760.
