So, I just installed the hybrid cooler, and using Precision, I can see the memory fan max out over 55c. While it isn't audible as I'm pretty sure the memory fan does nothing due to the hybrid cooler, why is it maxing out over 55c in Precision?

Do you have a setting in Precision that is causing the Memory temp to control the fan speed? There isn't a 'memory fan'. That fan is to cool the PWM.

Well, as I said, since this isn't a FTW3 Hybrid card straight off the bat, it still shows the original fan controls. This un-connected fan (the memory one) maxes out whenever the temperature goes above 55c.

Your Stock BIOS still thinks you have a stock cooler on your card You would have to flash the FTW3 Hybrid BIOS to make this change / behave like an FTW3 Hybrid

But why would it show the fan maxing out if nothing is connected? Also, is it safe to flash the FTW3 Hybrid bios over the stock one?

Flash the correct FTW3 Hybrid, BIOS ---> Only to the Second "Slave" (number 2) BIOS position It is "Telling the fan to run" not measuring the fan probably as it does not physically exist any more

Alright, I'll give it a shot. Edit: Do you know where to find it? I can only find the master BIOS on techpowerup.

I got that you installed the Hybrid...I've done a couple. But you can see why I asked.

Well, no. It's just completely stock settings with some overclocking.

Yes, but I don't know that until I ask and well many years...at least a decade or two before joining here, I learned to avoid assuming what anyone has done with their system. Some have used the other fan headers on the GPU to control the PWM fan or control a rad fan. So, I ask.

Actually I wonder if he plugged the VRM fan into the memory fan header....I've not done an FTW3 Hybrid...is that possible?

That a valid possibility -- if the member is seeing RPM displayed My two FTW3 Hybrids are factory cards in my AIO Folding Rig (see signature for link), never had the cooler off of them On the BIOS, you can contact CS and request they email you one. Make sure your cad is registered first. https://www.evga.com/about/contactus/
