Scarlet, with all due respect, I have to disagree on your reference to custom comparison.  Yes, some reference GPUs aka "Golden Chips" can compete with binned GPUs on custom PCBs but some aren't willing to risk that.  Better off going with custom for the guarantee overclock out of the box as reference isn't a guarantee that it can overclock over it's stock settings.  
 
I'm just going to go in my corner and hope the stock OCs on the customs are fascinating.

Speaking strictly on out of the box boost clocks, not overclocking, most cards go beyond the classified 1860. So, what is the point of paying for the clocks that nvidia provides without any overclocking?

Not all cards will boost past those clocks at stock, of course. But the number that wont iis very small.

Also, debates are good. I used to try my hardest to justify the cost of the classified cards. To me, it just isnt worth it anymore.

Even my Pascal Titans @stock using waterblocks boost past 1860 with ease.

What kind of cooling is that using and what kind of temperatures?

Even the prfessional overclockers had a hard time passing that for over a month after the card was launched using custom cooling and custom vrm.

I had 4 780 TI classifieds before and the tool worked perfect :) had mine running at 1.5ghz 4 of them at all time with full EK water loop,  Now im just having 1 1080FE But will gett 1080TI classifieds

But why is the 1080Ti 700$ in US and 825€ in Europe ? It's 150$ more expensive here !

Because the products need to be shipped across the giant oceans and VAT is included in your prices? Here in USA we have to pay taxes separately. Pretty sure has nothing to do with socialism.

Been studying this stuff for years.  I know what I'm talking about.  Their costs of good cost more there for a reason. 

So are we thinking that the vendor cards will allow more, less or the same amount of performance compared to founders edition on a custom watercooled loop? I'm not an extreme overclocker, so it may not make a difference to me? I usually just try to get it at a stable OC and stay happy with it.

Woo 5 days tell release .hopefully the performance will be the real deal. Either going to step up to the 1080 since the price droped to 499 or 1080ti if it ends up matching or beating titian performance. Glad I still have 30+ days on my 1070 hybrid ftw step up. As it's barley 10$+shipping to step up to a 1080. Even tho I will losse water cooling I will live.

Will the 1080/1070 Hybrid kit work with 1080Ti FE?

Not directly, no. The shroud is not a direct match, but can be modified to work. Folks have done it with the titan xp.

I don't plan on using the shroud or fan, I'd like to preserve the looks of the FE.
 
I have seen pics of the Titan X with AIO attached, but was curious if there might be any differences on the 1080Ti (seeing as how they've changed the cooling a bit).

I think the change was to the vapor chamber, but i honestly dont know for sure.

It will be hard to preserve the look of the FE, because the stock cooler would need to be modified to accept the tubes, which will void your warranty as it would be a physical modification. If you want to use the hybrid, I highly suggest using the hybrid shroud just so you dont harm you manufacturers warranty.

They claimed to have doubled the cooling surface. But that could just mean the space they saved by removing the 2 slot dvi port. Should be an improvement and we'll certainly get the reviews on launch day. Then it's just a matter of availability. It's at the super high end so availability might be better, but I won't hold my breath.

The 1080 was the exact same price, and availability was minimal. I wouldnt put it past nvidia to hold stock back just to force supply and demand issues again.. they have had 6 months to build up stock of slightly flawed Titan XP cores, so the stock should be fantastic.

Except that they're not slightly flawed. They just are using 1 less memory channel. Not sure if that's related to how they got the memory clocked faster. But other than memory channel and speed the chip is the exact same as a titan XP.

Ahh! Thought it had slightly less cores. Whoops. Thanks for that. I can still imagine them homding back some stock on purpose.

don't worry about them being sold out forever. It may be hard to snag one tho you can watch evga's site or new egg or any of the authorized retailers on the release day. worst case if you aren't able to grab one you can put sites like evga to notify you when stock comes in
